Thanks for the great videos :) One minor correction: At 14:12 you mention that the shed must be empty to be upgraded or you lose what's in it. I don't believe this is correct. It would be true for razing, but upgrading allows you to store the goods in the new upgraded building as long as you immediately staff it with a new worker.
slickerdrips Another thing I noticed is that you built a production building that required a yellow worker (i.e. an iron mine) and staffed it right away. This is never a good idea because you will have to pay sustenance to staff it and again at the end of year. For production buildings, it makes sense to always wait until the "move workers" phase at the end of the year, because this move doesn't require a sustenance (since you will pay it normally at the end of year). You get all of the benefit without double paying the sustenance. Of course, for non-production buildings it is different because you may need their powers during the year. I've loved all of the Essen videos. I really appreciate how quickly you got them up after Spiel :) Keep up the great work!
And apparently I missed the big red box telling me you don't need to feed your workers in that phase! That would have made an even bigger difference in the Era III video
Thanks for a very good review. After purchasing the game on impulse (it arrives today), I've watched a couple of playthroughs besides this one and I've come to the conclusion that it's a rather pointless game. There seems there's no way to lose, particularly if you play solo. I suppose I won't open that box and see what Amazon says....
The solo game is very much beat your own score - I haven't read them myself yet but there are several scenarios available for the solo game, I think they're on the BGG forums, might give the solo mode a win condition
You are the official Colonists guru Tom! ... a real pioneer ! (-:
Marty takes for action in Summer 1st year: brick, market, joiner and builder. Should have only been three actions, right?
Yup, always three. Thanks, all noted up now

Thanks Brian, not sure where I got that idea from! All noted up now

At the end of the first year of Era 2, did you feed your citizens? Maybe I missed it.
At the end of the first year I just had farmers and Marty just had two citizens unemployed so nobody needed food there
Yeah, Era III.... and maybe Era IV?? ;)
+Dennis Janning Era III is coming at some point, but I couldn't manage the full 4
haha, you said that last video about era III ;) Great work, its so much fun to watch
Thanks Dennis!
I didn't mean to do Era III, I just got excited :D Era III definitely wore me out though
Looks Like a very interesting game. Like many I think the length of play will be it's downfall.
