@@tinahaughn5070 where’d ya here that. I think it’s about not rly being “here” or “there” mentally, sort of like what his other song “let it go” is about. It’s also about a lot of other things that are sort of un-explainable.
the lyrics seem to be about dissociation, for me anyway
imo it’s about wanting to stay in his head (as he mentions constantly in his songs how he has always been in his head and that’s what he prefers). if you look at his other songs like muppet he has lyrics that i feel tie together pretty well to this song. in muppet he talks abt his struggle with weed, and he also mentions this in his lyrics "give me something nice let me push the past away, i don’t wanna die i just wanna close my eyes, give me something nice i wanna go away for a while." i feel like that’s exactly what this song is about, it starts out by him talking about himself in third person, talking about how much he sucks basically. he then sings the lyrics "don’t forget, that it’s all in your head" which is the lyrics that make me believe the meaning i have mentioned. it’s almost as if he’s what you would call in a substance abuser "too far gone", (this term can be used to describe many of alex g’s songs). he’s so far gone that he is convincing whoever he wrote this song to that everything is all in their head and he’s not real (he wants to convince them possibly due to depression or self doubt). he thinks of himself as lowlife and believes he will never be better. which is why he would prefer to live his life in his head. he is so addicted and/or depressed he has convinced himself he isn’t worthy of being in the presence of this person. i also feel like since alex g does mention his issues with substance abusing in a lot of his songs, he may have hurt this person. (possibly physically, lyrics in hitting so hard do talk abt that). however the person keeps coming back and that just makes alex g feel even more shitty because he knows he’s too far gone and he will continue to treat them badly. which is why he sings the lyrics "don’t look at me and pretend you care, i’m not here, i’m not there, i’m not anywhere".
the part about him hurting the person in any way may be completely wrong because i don’t believe alex g is capable of that. however i do believe in a way he did hurt them due to his addiction because they probably did truly care, they probably tried to even help, but alex g realized he was too far gone. the person probably continued to be persistent on helping, and continued to fail. which is why alex g may be talking about himself so negatively.
this may be completely wrong i’m just procrastinating studying for my test tomorrow. also so sorry for any grammar mistakes, it’s late and i’m too lazy to fix them.
