@Ballen1182Oh didn't realise he'd removed the motor to put it on an engine dyno. That rarely happens in Australia we just put everything on a chassis dyno. Only real engine dynos apart from at school I've heard of is carburettored cars that machinists have ran in and tested before fitting the motor.
@Ballen1182 that's weird seeing as mustang and dyno dynamics read different 😏 We lose around 25% here between quoted engine HP figures and what the actually run at the wheels on a dyno dynamics. I've also had as bigger difference as 10% between different chassis dyno's on same tune same fuel. So who's lying GM or the dyno companies? Assuming your hp is almost as bad as paper back drag racing and "11 second capable cars" that have never hit a strip. I guess this is why the rest of the world jokes that Americans measure the length from the back of their balls. I highly doubt this car runs anywhere higher than 320rwhp on an honest dyno. If that's 400 at the crank that would be a 20% loss ...
@Ballen1182 my daily which is the same year has full long tube headers , twin exhaust and twin cats , over the radiator bigger K and N filter. It makes 309rwhp and the mph backs it up. Those same drag racing calculators with the weight of the car and the mph say it makes 310rwhp. They also state a 10% , 11% and 15% drivetrain loss . So does my car with the same mods only have 340 @ 10% loss and or does it make 355 @ 15% loss which isnt much more than the stock HP figures quoted from GM , which you're saying is common knowledge to be 400hp with those mods? So did GM over rate these motors from the factory? Or is 15% loss a bit on the shy side? This year of LS1 was rated at 220kw if a 99-2000 , 225kw for 2001- early 2002 (241 heads had come in. ) then 235kw in Australia when the ls6 manifold came in and 255kw if the factory headered model. A 241 headed , ls6 manifold car with a stock tune , manifolds and twin factory exhaust only makes 250-270whp so close to a 25% loss of what's quoted by gm as they'd stated they were 235 kw ( 315hp. ) You add long tubes , a more aggressive tune with higher octane fuel , high flow cats , twin mandrel bent exhaust and an over the radiator high flow intake and it makes 310-330 rwhp at the wheel pending what dyno. Shouting out and big noting yourself for much hp your car has without it even being measured is one of the most laughable things in the car scene especially when every dyno any of my cars have ever been strapped to have always made different amounts depending on the ambient air temperature , humidity , age of fuel in the tank and I'm not even bringing about sea level. A California cars not including emissions will make a lot more than a Colorado car up in the altitude. Are you starting to see how silly it is to be guessing your HP figure yet?
Car is too low to have headers and 3 inch exhaust. Most likely has CAi with cat back. No cam. No 400hp. At most 330hp. -10 for starting and doing a burn out right away.
