I lived new Mill Pond estate until 1982 and still live in Bermondsey now! I love the area still but it has become a place for wealthy outsiders to live. Most of the REAL locals have been priced put of the area and i find it really sad!
So true. We were packed off to new towns, like Andover, with the excuse we would have a healthier life. That was undoubtedly true but the community was destroyed , a way of life ended and monied people moved in. My council house flat in Kirby Estate recently sold for close on 400,000 pounds!
What is this? A documentary? I was born in 62 so I was a wee little one.I do remember a little of the 60's.Oh how much things have changed! And not for the better.
Really? Better housing, better off financially, health care improved, women no longer have to go to back street abortionists or are vilified & ostracized for getting pregnant out of wedlock. Think on.
Real London, before it was abolished.

I was 18 at that time and had just started my nurse training
It's strange to think that if the lad who had the twenty-first birthday party is still with us he'll be celebrating his seventy-fifth birthday soon.
