Jung's admiration for this was significant, as he wrote in the foreword to it:
"As I read through the manuscript of this book it became clear to me how great are the disadvantages of pioneer work: one stumbles through unknown regions; one is lead astray by analogies, forever losing the Ariadne thread; one is overwhelmed by new impressions and new possibilities, and the worst of disadvantage of all is that the pioneer only knows afterwards what he should have known before."

"Individual consciousness passes through the same archetypal stages of development that marked the history of human consciousness as a whole. The stages begin and end with the symbol of the Uroboros, or tail-eating serpent; the intermediary stages are projected in the universal myths of the World Creation, the Great Mother, the Separation of the World Parents, the Birth of the Hero, the Slaying of the Dragon, the Rescue of the Captive, and the transformation and Deification of the Hero. THE HERO throughout this sequence IS THE EVOLVING EGO CONSCIOUSNESS." - Erich Neuman
"Myths let you know were you are. The ego cannot reflect about itself unless it has a mirror against which to read itself, and that mirror would be the mythological schedule that let you know where it is." - Joseph Campbell

Wow! I had a vision about Ouroboros as a self destruction symbol (and I associate self-destruction to my mother) encompassing my essence (a flame).
As I'm thinking about tattooing it, I was looking into more of its meanings and most of what you share in this video touches deeply into my soul.
    Great!

I agree with your dream/interpretation of the Ouroboros representing self-destruction.
I don’t see the dragon making a circle, exactly; I see her stuck in a loop: “She” (an archetype of chaos) has found a sense of vitality at the cost of her own destruction.
She is able to sustain her sense of existence, but only by the means of eating herself.
To me, this can illustrate addiction: we attempt to fill our internal voids by consuming our external selves.

There are only two books so far I had to put aside in the middle of reading it and start reading something else instead to come back later because the reading was so dense and loaded with wisdom (wisdom I don't fully grasp even years after reding them). Those books are Nietzsches Zarathustra and Neumanns Origins and History of Consciousness.
Thought I just leave that here. Grand work with the Video!

Another take from a western ideological perspective:
Ouroboros itself represents self consumption and self obsession. Narcissistic neuroticism. The inability to break ego. The first step in spiritual awareness is to realize your own self-destruction; to cease it.
Sadly, many who reach the first stage are incapable of their own ability to "break the chain." They revel in it. The hell they create for themselves becomes a comforting embrace, and so they continue their consumption til their dying breath.
I personally recommend the pursuit of other symbolism in contrast to this one.

Poem I wrote seems well placed here
    Inextricable
    by Your Quality Apologist
    This knot cannot be unwound..
Tick-tock, fruit falls to the ground.
Perennial proverbs, we're cursed to the tree.
A snake like a dragon is looking at me!
Such slippery slices, who pieced it for pies?
    We're building a lodge, we measure a G..
Every point on a line, leaves us the Ys!
What's free versus those frisking for fees..
A deity dies, dices what's priceless!
Gal in the gallows, a gulag for guy.
Oh it's Osiris I-O also ISIS!
God! What's the dogma? Dirty dogs in a sty..
A project of vices, to cause all the crisis..
O, designer of mouths, hands and these eyes!
So we wander and wonder and isn't for naught..
I was looking for something, sum ring once sought..
I'm seeking a thought, my memory maunders..
Lackluster light know now casts lots..
These guts are all we got!
    Sheep to the slaughter..
Scape goats weren't what we bought.
Retribution, good Gods would not conjure!
A gift begotten but eventually brought.
For fake fickle feathers Icarus drops!
Sly serpents slither right now surely stronger..
Forsaken for now, fear forwardly fought!
The glory the splendor, gutsy when shot..
For I'm no slave a true child to foster!
Forgive me, for this forgery I've forgot!
Forewarned to forfeit if focus of fraught..
What things I stare at when it is that I ponder?
Dark glass reflections, a war that I've wrought!
Inside are some vessels, on surface cracked-pot..
Siphoning stares I am assuredly squandered..
So as our days near their ends,
we are not long in yonder,
    in all of their honor,
    temporarily removed from our friends.
    Writing letters with these pens,
A wall! It there to defend.
The tickets I've sold to go saunter.
Those up feel frisky for flaunter!
    Travels postponing-work pends.
I'm still here for an encore,
with back turned to the condor,
jokeRs played into a joke to a t-end.
    I've charged those who offend,
O, fend 'er ascend her! My kin!
    The banter is bond for-
What we pretend are not sins..
    These nightmares I've conquered,
    the cold behind- still somber..
What dreams that I long for..
as I aid in a launder..
All the energy simply is spent!
All of this will soon cease as our haunter.
My treasures' in heaven, pockets are lient!

Spiritually speaking (gender aside), matriarchal wisdom can begin with a fundamental understanding of the cyclical nature of reality (God).
Represented by the snake in many creation myths, the living cycle has a trinity of a beginning (head), a middle and end (tail). As above so below, the sexes were created in the image of God's cyclical nature where Mother is the head and opening to all beginnings and Father holds the tail to all endings (through which the sowing of seeds allow for the next great matriarchal rebirth). The joining of the two (symbolized by the Ouroborus or the marriage ring) is the sacred union needed in assuring the creation and continuation of new life cycles. To speak of the present day God as "Our Father" is simply an admission to our collective positioning within the bigger cycle.
As all mothers have direct experience with the creator quality of birthing, so is the direct experience of rebirthing the divinity within (baptism) belong to that which is spiritually matriarchal. (John 3, verse 3-8).
Sekhmet statues (ancient Egyptian) carry most of their weight in symbolic memory of what was a mother culture dedicated to the direct experience of baptism. As the leg shaped hairlocks extend from maternal breasts to the womb of rebirth, the lioness's head proportions are such that they highlight the bust of a second animal figure. The Lioness's ears as eyes and eyes as nose (nostrils) brings to life the figure of a reptile. 'Neath the halo headress of the solar egg, the lioness's egg fertilization process being internal (Set) and the reptile's egg fertilization process being external (Setting), such being key components to the safety of entering the trans-egoic or "born again" state. The life threatening fear associated with the predatory nature of a lion and/or crocodile encounter are reflective of the intense ego death experience associated with the transpersonal awakening process.
In spiritually matriarchal times, illumination could be seen as wearing the false beard (ancient Egyptian funerary "ego" death mask) as the high state of cyclical self knowing; high awareness of both our upper matriarchal half and our lower (later) patriarchal half (compared with a mini lower body replica, an "as above so below" tail end beard extension); in full recognition of her civilizational Underworld, her inevitable cyclical destiny. The male pharaoh wears his beard tapered in reverse, indicating a pointing upwards towards the patriarchal head, divine representative of God's tail end cycle.
To carry the Ankh was perhaps to symbolically carry that upper and lower understanding. As the upper matriarchal womb symbolised the fertile birthing of civilization, below, the now Christian cross is carried to place emphasis on the lower (later) "End Times" Father principle of the great cycle.
Ganesha, the elephant headed Hindu diety, displays a cyclical head to trunk symbolism and points to the Mother head of his matriarchal elephant society.
A whole temple was dedicated to the ancient Egyptian goddess Hathor, who is the matriarchal "Uterus" personified. ruclips.net/video/J0m0zJSEFK0/видео.html
In the name of the Father, the Son and the holy ghosted... ? ... inevitability.
