    Okay Duran might be one of the few guys I would actually trade a starter for

      My issue with that is our OF is the strongest part of our offense. It would make Randy be our DH and Luke Raley only being 1B. Doesn’t make complete sense.

      @@Robertstevens11567 Do you know how many times it was said over the years that the outfield was stacked and we wouldn’t need another. I just don’t believe in being picky about positions at times because nothing ever works out as planned typically.

      @@ryanstaiger1712 but if you strengthen where you have depth at an expense you have less resources to solve your glaring issues. If we are trading George Kirby for an All Star I would prefer it to be in a position where we are ridiculously weak not the area of the most depth. Sure something could happen to weaken our OF depth but something could also happen to Duran and we traded Kirby for nothing.

    you tell me what would be a safer bet. You trade one of the starting 5, for an offensive contributor who MIGHT hold his value, MIGHT have a good season, MIGHT be a fit in Seattle, and you push Logan Evans into the starting 5 with the hope that he MIGHT be ready...
    or you just "cop it sweet", cuff your hands, go into 2025 with the same rotation, and give not only Logan Evans but our infield prospects as well a chance to shine in the first half of 2025 at aa/aaa. They all JUST SO HAPPEN to project for that level of competition going into next season. If Logan Evans comes out guns blazing, then awesome. Build his confidence for a few months, assuming the starting 5 stay healthy and effective. Then make a decision, FROM A POSITION OF POWER, in regards to the pitching surplus as the deadline approaches. The ideal infielder MAY or MAY NOT be on the trading block.
    For that matter, the ideal infielder MAY or MAY NOT be putting in an all star caliber performance in aa/aaa and giving us actual reason to be optimistic about giving them a promotion.

    trading any 1 of our starting 5 would EXPONENTIATE our needs in terms of offense upgrades, putting contention out of reach.

  • @420gzuz
    @420gzuz 2 дня назад +1

    DO NOT TRADE ANY OF THE STARTING 5. THIS IS SOOOOO CRUCIAL FOR THE FUTURE.

    My biggest concern is that they will trade a proven pitcher for a high end player and he will be a bust offensively

    • @420gzuz
      @420gzuz 2 дня назад

      why be concerned about that? just because it has happened on average 3 times out of 4 in recent and not-so-recent history? fwiw i agree wholeheartedly with you.

    On the Tigers, they also only won 86 games. They got lucky on the year. We have done that, or better, 9 times since ‘01 and one playoff berth.
    That’s not skill that’s luck.

    I'm not trading one of the young SP unless it's for a nearly guaranteed and aubstantialt offensive upgrade PLUS some additional potential at SP.
    This is why I'm still big in trading with the Rays. Getting someone like Diaz along with an army say Jeffrey Springs or Drew Rasmussen would help me live with losing a young starter

  • @420gzuz
    @420gzuz 2 дня назад

    Lets make it a serious point to adhere to some specific criteria...
    If we bring in a bat, it should be a guy who DOESN'T STRIKE OUT MORE THAN AVERAGE!
    Better yet, it should be a guy who WALKS AT LEAST AN AVERAGE % OF THE TIME
    secondly, we need to NOT repeat the mistake of getting so damn caught up in those standards that we bring in Jose Vidro to DH and Kendrys Morales to produce runs.

    I wouldn’t trade Kirby unless it’s a great deal for us. I would keep Polanco too

    Sign Walker at 1st, trade for Brandon Lowe at 2nd and let Rojas mature into an all star candidate. Walker could well sign for 3yr/40 mil. Not sure about Lowe's option but should be manageable.

    • @ProfessorGriffPDX
      @ProfessorGriffPDX 3 дня назад +10

      You think Christian Walker signs for $13 million/yr??? Haniger costs $17 mil/ year. There is no world we sign Walker for that. The Mariners will have to overpay and his AAV will be over $20-22 million/year. Rojas is 30. There is no maturing. What you see there is what you get. He is not a full time position player let a lone an all star. His ceiling is a really solid glove and a league'ish' average bat with not much pop.
