We have a mechanic. Just a brilliant guy. Single mechanic shop. We buy the parts and he puts them on. He always test drives his repair’s. He is second to none. We are lucky.
Tammy stay with your guy. I found a shop here in NC with several Accura/Honda technicians. They only work on Accura and Honda vehicles. They did a timing belt replacement and valve adjustment and water pump for 2/3 off what my local Honda dealership was going to charge me. Went in to schedule the work in October and got an appointment 3 weeks later as they are a busy shop which one likes to see. So if you have a solid mechanic who does excellent work stay with that mechanic!
Out of curiosity how does he price? I had a guy who'd do that and then charge by the hour. He's largely switched to pricing by job which for a lot of things comes out to way more

Original owner of a 2007 Tacoma X-Runner. Wanted a rear drive manual with a V6. Hopefully it’s never totaled…no replacements. Toyota, please make a simple truck again.
Yeah. With AI coming I can promise you the cars we had in the late 2000s and older will be a thing of the past. They’ll be considered “unsafe” for us to drive
Simple truck? Not with the current government EPA regulations. That's the only reason all these pickup manufacturers are downsizing the engines and compensating with a turbo, so they can comply with emissions requirements and still get horsepower. Nissan Frontier is the only midsize without a turbo now, they just discontinued the Titan to comply with overall emissions regulations.
The issue is that we put our trust in mechanics and car dealers to do their job and fix the problem, not make it worse. Unfortunately, they want our money, but don’t want to put forth their best effort to fix the problem. We need more people like Scotty!
ASE Mechanic Certification is ongoing as engineering design of vehicles becomes more complex. Thats also why many Doctors choose a specialization in medicine. Maybe a mechanic, whose expertise in drivetrains should not be dart boarding blindly into Engine control electronics?
😂 if y'all want to buy new car cheaper, just dont buy em, keep driving your old car as long as possible, that way the dealer will begging us back with reasonable prices.
My very last trip to a new vehicle dealership was in 2002 when I bought my very last new vehicle and still have it. I have never stepped foot on a used lot and never will. I only buy used now and only from owners in my area. I have the abilities and time to fix what needs fixed and disable the silly stuff like cameras and such. New/newer vehicles nowadays is a gamble I don't care to take.
If the A/C compressor was changed out and that was the issue, the tech should've changed out the dryer/receiver too. Scotty I just bought a brand new 2025 Mazda CX-30 GX base model. It’s pretty loaded for a base model. I bought the crystal Red colour. I love it. With taxes and extended warranty with an 8 year unlimited number to bumper warranty I paid $36,840 Canadian bucks. I couldn’t be happier. Have you tested this model? I always get 100% charge on my full gas tank. Why buy a car that only allows you to fill up 80%? Burns hotter, longer and we don't have enough water to stop it.
That's a moot point here in the northeastern United States. The body and frame will be destroyed by salt applied to roads in the winter months usually by 250,000 miles.
About 20 years ago I bought a Hyundai Accent online for considerably less than I had found it for at the dealerships. I did get to test drive the car I bought, and it was a fairly basic model. It ran well for ten years, then I traded it in for another one. I drove it pretty hard, but kept up the servicing and it stayed in good shape. I believe they didn't have to pay a salesman's commission, or, at least, not a full one.
I work for a Kia dealership in the Cleveland, Ohio area. All the techs personally drive the cars they worked on to make sure the repair/maintenance work was properly done. Go figure…
@@royjohnson465 it seems like everybody that brings their car in for service has about 2 miles of range left in the tank, so they have to put gas in lol. I believe they put in $15 or so.
The local Honda dealer replaced my Honda Accord's power steering pump. It failed one month after the 1 year warranty expired. I then paid an independent service shop $100 less and got a replacement PS pump with a LIFETIME warranty. Lesson learned.
@iamteamBB well for us it's free shipping over $35 but it's about 2 week delivery without prime and with it it cuts it down to about 5 days normally. But I quit paying for it because it wasn't worth it for me. Just buy $35 of stuff and let them ship it to me. Anything we need faster we will buy from Walmart or basically any other retailer even when we have prime.
The last time I used a main dealer, 18 years ago, the "road test" box was ticked on the sheet they gave me along with the £550 bill, but as soon as I drove it onto the road the engine started misfiring. They just lie and cheat.
We bought a new ford f150, straight 6 and 5 speed manual for the same price. Everything manual, even the roll up windows still work…. 1993 was a good year!
I brought my 2 new semi new 2008 and 2002 Toyota Corolla LE in 2010 with 21K miles and bumper scratch on lines on e-bay for 11K plus shipping of $750.00 from IL and FL to CA. I had no issue and still using it with no warranty and dealer crap!
Hello Scotty I have a 2008 mercury grand marquis ls with 186743 miles and it has a misfire so I had to put new spark plugs in but one of the old ones was stripped in the hole after taking the car to a shop and they were able to get it out and install a new spark plug and the car ran good for a while but now it’s haveing the same problem5 months later so what should I do now
When i was in Panama 🇵🇦 a taxi picked us up and had a manual it was a 2023 i10 Hyundai sedan. I asked the driver how much he paid he said $17k. There’s are lots of Toyota Tercels and people keep their cars for 20-30 years.
When the Service Manager and all the mechanics are on performance bonuses and they are billing 20 hours in an 8 hour day then anything that takes more time (like a road test) isn’t going to get done.
You can go on the main streets in downtown LA and you'd be shocked by what you'd see parked along the curbs. Old RV's and tents. And people are living full time in them. The local government should be totally ashamed of themselves for allowing this to go on! And they are the ones that scream for justice for the poor?
Isn't it odd that those people who thinks they can make more money by sell it and inflated price??? Now observe businesses that pays more money up its employees, are they making the cut??? Nope..20k is a lot of money now a days ok. Go do your research and find out if people who make ends meet have that kind of money. I sold heard that some rich folks are broke, are they giving away all of their cash duhhh dream on folks.
Bought four new Toyotas from Lithia Toyota in Abilene, TX! Treated us great, good service and great deals. If people save, I have no great job or pay! My wife and I save and both pull together to make it work. Now days all people care about is their selves!! Even in a so called relationship!
Believe it or not, there's certain federal and state laws regulating that. Elon Musk had to go through a bunch of legal hoops and loopholes to get Teslas sold direct to buyer.
“Back in my day, the book would tell us how much time a repair would take and we would laugh about charging suckers…I mean customers…the full 6 or 8 hours per the book, even when we actually spent only 2 hours doing the work.” - Scotty Kilmer
does take *alot* of the hassle out of overpriced dealer markups. im certain the price is still roughly the same in the end given how sh*tty dealers are to... deal... with 😉

We bought a new ford f150, straight 6 and 5 speed manual for the same price. Everything manual, even the roll up windows still work…. 1993 was a good year!
AWESOME
I brought my 2 new semi new 2008 and 2002 Toyota Corolla LE in 2010 with 21K miles and bumper scratch on lines on e-bay for 11K plus shipping of $750.00 from IL and FL to CA. I had no issue and still using it with no warranty and dealer crap!
How bout quick change battery stations?
would work, but needs standardized batteries and chargers
Let dealers shut down! Would serve them right for their greed and not caring for their clientele.
Walmart sells toyota!!!!!!!!

@@frwayflyer1111111it does have CVT. I have 140k miles now 4 yrs later but change the oil every 10k miles. It runs just fine
1000 miles charge in 5 minutes and 500k mile life, and I’ll consider it.
fyi: Hyundai rhymes with "Sunday", not "sun-die"...
It's another Yunday Sunday Funday with Scottay

When Henry Ford built the Model T, Scotty said it was no good and continued to thrash his old nag.

Hello Scotty Great Show.
When i was in Panama 🇵🇦 a taxi picked us up and had a manual it was a 2023 i10 Hyundai sedan. I asked the driver how much he paid he said $17k. There’s are lots of Toyota Tercels and people keep their cars for 20-30 years.
I'm sure the US Postal Service is thrilled... not. 0~o Lord knows Bazos and Amazombie would try to get it home delivered.
When the Service Manager and all the mechanics are on performance bonuses and they are billing 20 hours in an 8 hour day then anything that takes more time (like a road test) isn’t going to get done.
Love ya, Scotty!!!
You can go on the main streets in downtown LA and you'd be shocked by what you'd see parked along the curbs. Old RV's and tents. And people are living full time in them. The local government should be totally ashamed of themselves for allowing this to go on! And they are the ones that scream for justice for the poor?
It's called living the life in "Woketopia"...
@@gazzafloss Please define "woke".
If I want to return the car can I just take it to kohl's or wholefoods?
Hyundai is pronounced HUHN-day, not HUHN-die.

I have never seen a customer on the lot😅
A Young Guy. What kind of car is that ? Young Guy
Hey Mr.Kilmer you probably answered this already but car brands would you consider the best as far as reliability and fixable?
Ford, chevy, toyota...dodge are a pain
@@anchoredislands4880 I've heard Ford was one of the terrible ones too
Youn-dae??????
Hyundai…… pronounced Sunday
Used to be able to order a manual not to long ago for Nissan
Why not put a dangerous product that could explo.e into flame's at anytime beside your safe family home with your family locked inside.😅
Bought four new Toyotas from Lithia Toyota in Abilene, TX! Treated us great, good service and great deals. If people save, I have no great job or pay! My wife and I save and both pull together to make it work. Now days all people care about is their selves!! Even in a so called relationship!
What is interesting is scrap yards have cars in crates as well so I’m interested if they will tap into that market.
The shop that I go to road tests my vehicle on applicable repairs that would require a road test and nothing was left in my car from their lunch etc
Hey Scotty, I like your glasses. Where did you get them, who makes them. Thanks
Much like the big box wholesale clubs like Sam’s and Costco did years ago
You can't hand someone a house and think problem solved. If they can't maintain the property for whatever reason, you wasted your time.
Just look at the way some of these folks treat a rental property turning it into a trash heap.
@@gazzafloss Who are "these folks"?
Buy a car through Costco.
Hyundai lol
I do t see why car factories can't just make your cant and ship it to you cut out the middle man!
Believe it or not, there's certain federal and state laws regulating that. Elon Musk had to go through a bunch of legal hoops and loopholes to get Teslas sold direct to buyer.
Sorry it does not fit in the basket !
Lawsuits are very easy to win with the UCC.
Will they have the same return policy?
I didn’t expect this but lol I am a student at Dalhousie university
“Back in my day, the book would tell us how much time a repair would take and we would laugh about charging suckers…I mean customers…the full 6 or 8 hours per the book, even when we actually spent only 2 hours doing the work.” - Scotty Kilmer
I thought you were dead..?!
No Hyundai cars
Just bring back reliable non plastic cars!!! Then we dont have to

Are the dealers crapping their pants. I should buy stock in the Pampers Company. 💩
does take *alot* of the hassle out of overpriced dealer markups.
im certain the price is still roughly the same in the end given how sh*tty dealers are to... deal... with 😉
With cars this CHEAP, now I can stop CRAPPING MY PANTS about the bills! RIP credit card debt!
Sears tried to sell cars after world war 2. It didn’t go over well as I understand.
Turbos...........

I didnt realize the Tacoma still had a manual option?
Yes, Tacoma still offers a manual transmission, the only bad thing is their turbocharged engine.
