    You didn't explain the difference between top swing and down swing.

    Hi Daniel, greetings from Brazil. You have one of the best cycling channels on RUclips. Your english is quite easy to understand. You are now part of my favorite polish stuff alongside with Agnieszka Radwanska, Robert Kubica, the movie "Ida" and Wyborowa vodka. Cheers!

    You did not not explain how to tell top swing or bottom swing. You just pointed at the box. So is Low Clamp always top swing?

    • @MindVortex23

      You missed something. Top swing (unlike the bottom swing, it is usually universal, the cable can be routed from the bottom) means the cable is pulling the derailleur from the top. Bottom swing pulls the cable from the bottom.

    Nice video, like most of them, you're really putting big effort in explaining, testing and comparing all these components, kudos for that, and that's the reason I subscribed to your channel.
    But, in this video you didn't properly explain the difference between top and down swing designs, and it's a shame because otherwise it's a great and educative video.
    Similar thing the other day when you were explaining rear derailleurs capacity and long-middle-short cages. At the end of the video I was expecting that you would suggest which cage length is for which capacity, it would nicely complete the video.
    These are just some constructive critics, you are really doing a great job, and keep on! :)

    i don't understand the swing type information. let's say i have a direct mount front mech, and the cable comes from the bottom, i will buy a direct mount, bottom pull one, that i got. but how do i know if i need high clamp/low clamp, top swing side swing etc.. i'm confused

  • @Goriaas
    @Goriaas 6 лет назад +1

    alot of info there. One quick question. so my mtb frame is pretty old and the cable comes from the top. so getting a top-pull clamp-on(no bolts, uniformly thick seattube on my frame) is a safe bet?

    This is very useful. I’m going to use a Problem Solver clamp to hold my front derailleur so it will move over to work with a chain set with a 51.8 chainline. I know I have to use a top pull, but does it matter what type of swing it is?

    I have a dull pull deore LX (not the part supplied with the frame), but the top pull cable stopper is too close on the frame to be a good match, the cable comes out at an angle and has worn a side groove in the cable stop. Am I right in thinking the side pull design has an integrated cable stop, so I can re-route my cable and not require a cable stop on the frame. But top and bottom pulls both require the cable stopper on the frame?

    Try to not have the icon stuff when showing something I the video, or make the outro longer so you can fit in without compromising the end of the video. and you had the camera way too close to the boxes, would be nice to see the components properly, the resolution & quality will allow you to have them further away.

    I have the Shimano FD M8025 H. I think it's a downpull so the moronic mechanics have mounted the wrong derailleur. Is it possible to reverse the pulling direction?

  • @jarretgosbee7717
    @jarretgosbee7717 7 лет назад +1

    The best front derailleur is no front derailleur. I absolutely hate my FD on my mountain bike (triple crankset). My CX front derailleur is a bottom-pull with the cable running on the top of the top tube so there's a pulley to change cable direction. It constantly gets caked in mud and I lose front shifting. I don't mind it on my TT bike, friction shifting works well with front derailleurs

    The last one is a slx Fd and this model is seriously flawed, the chain will hit the swing arms and make chain slap noises very often. It came stock with my bike, I am glad its gone, from my bike.

    • @bikingwithchris6860

      suggests another issue if you have chain slap.

    • @mtbboy1993
      @mtbboy1993 7 лет назад

      that was with Cluch enabled, on a fullsuspension bike, use 1x11 now, on11-46Tx36T and Mrp amg v2 chain guide, No chain slap issues.
      the FD was no made to work without chain slap noises, and it was no possible to mount proper chain guide if you ran dual speed at the front.
