You know what's also horrifying in the video of Gugino being shoved? One of the officers is about to pause, maybe to check on him, perhaps even realizing he made a mistake, but the other officer pulls him back as if to say, "keep moving."
    Absolutely inexcusable.

That police in Democratic cities kill Democrats, and instead of interrogating Democrats, you go and boycott Trump? It's clearly the fault of Democrat cities, look at the history of riots all happening in Democrat cities and before elections are held, why You didn't suspect the Democrats of deliberately causing a riot? Instead, go call Trump out, what are you guys doing when Hollywood is blatantly discriminating against Asians in the Oscars? If it weren't for the fact that Asian opposition doesn't even bother Democrats, are you really after racial equality? Why have Democratic cities been the most messed up places for decades? Look at Chicago and Baltimore, they are run by blacks, yet blacks kill each other the worst too, why don't you point to the Democrats? Why didn't you blame blacks when they discriminated against other races on a large scale in America? Blaming Trump instead?

In the video the guy was screaming in the cops face while repeatedly reaching towards the cops holstered weapon. Pushing him back out of reach was the appropriate response. It sucks he fell and got hurt, but in this case, his own actions were responsible. From what I understand, a medic was a few rows back and took care of him, which would explain why the non medically trained cops passed. Not sure on that part though.

@@Kelly_Ben is this what breitbart shovels down your throat? Why the hell would a seventy-five year old be reaching for a policeman's weapons, especially when all the protesters already knew how trigger happy the police seem to be, especially with regards to the protests.
You know what's the worst part of it: the policeman who shoved him didn't even wait until medical help arrived or called for help. He didn't call an ambulance or even for help from his other colleagues, after giving him a quick lookover and even after seeing him bleeding on the floor. None of the agents who saw it happen before them walked over and did something to help a seventy-five year old man, lying bleeding on the ground. They just marched on by.

""I didn't say I wasn't Black. I'm Black. My passport says 'American.' Trust me, I know I'm Black." Raven Symoné, 2018
I get what she means by that comment. She accepts her heritage, but she's not African. If she were to go back where she came from, it'd be somewhere in America.
And just like that, honoring African traditions, for the death of an American is like saying "you're not one of us. So we're going to pay tribute in your native way."
Still, at least they tried. Maybe they ended up looking a little silly, but that's just them not knowing better. Hearts in the right place, they probably connect "black lives matter" with the civil rights movements from when they were younger, when those kind of outfits were a symbol for what it meant to be proud of being black back then.

I don't see anything wrong with a different group wearing a part of that badge to signify solidarity between groups. In my eyes it was them saying "We are one. You are one of us, just as much as we are one of you."
I feel like their whole hearted attempt at a show of peace was met with "Look at these stupid people not understanding cultural importance, let's hate on them for no good reason, even though they are fighting for equality."

There's nothing wrong with the term African American and with African heritage. But I think the disconnect is, that some people use the term African American as something opposed to "normal" American, which then is European American by default. That's maybe the reason, terms like African American, Asian American, Native American, etc., exist, but you never hear people saying "European American". And somehow, that seems to apply to culture as well: stuff African Americans do, is always called "African", but stuff Caucasians do, is never referred to as "European", but is considered American by default. In a context like this, the predicate "African", might have the suggestion of something foreign, something un-American, and that's not fair, because African American culture in fact is as old and native to the US, as is European American culture.

Saint Peter said, "that is Abraham Lincoln's, it has moved twice for he has only lied twice in his life." John goes to another, he asked, "Why hasn't this one moved?" Saint Peter says, "That is Saint Teresa's, for she has never lied." Curious now, John asked, where is Donald Trumps clock?" Agreed, not the best response but their hearts were in the right place. Which is way more than Republicans r doing. Although it's kind of racist in it's own way coz kente cloths r an African pattern and not all blacks identify as "African" in culture. Yeah we all originated from Africa but I'm caribbean and I get offended/annoyed when people (mostly black people) ask me if I'm from Africa, and when I say "no I'm from Guyana" they either mix it up with Ghana (which is again in Africa) or they r like "same thing, all our ancestors r from Africa", like if my caribbean culture is all the same and it just got swallowed up by africa. Same thing with southern blacks, they have a different culture than let's say, a black new Yorker. So yeah we all originated from Africa (HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO!) But wearing a kente cloth doesnt mean u automatically represent all of us, since all blacks in this country aren't African or don't identify with African culture😒. But as I said, it's a symbolic gesture and the well-meaning behind it was appreciated, even though the execution wasnt the best.

Now, you can shove people too hard, can happen. But once he started falling they should have rushed to his aid. Instead they just left him for dead while he was bleeding out. I have not heard anyone talk specifically about the old man's injuries (with apologies to all young septuagenarians). The blood that we see in the video (and there was a frightening amount of it) did not come from a gash in his skin. It was gushing from his ears. That means only one thing - a fractured skull. That blood came from around his brain. Blood and/or clear liquid (cerebrospinal fluid) flowing from the ears indicates a cranial fracture, but not the extent of the brain damage, and yeah, he will definitely be left with some amount of brain damage. He could so easily have died. I can only guess at this, but I suspect those fast-acting Natl Guard troops were very well trained, and they worked some kind of magic to get him to the hospital quickly, like maybe an airlift. (They were giving him aid 18 seconds after he fell.)
When I first saw that, I was scared, then enraged. If the bastard who shoved him with his hand doesn't get a severe sentence for this, I think we'll have more trouble in the streets.

"They won't be defunding/dismantling the police..."
Guess what, Donald. If THEY ("they" being the City Council or County Commissioners who are in charge of budgeting & department structure) want to make changes to any aspect of their local police/sheriff departments, they absolutely can. They don't need your permission.
Just another example of Trump's profound ignorance of the most basic government structure & operations.

But if you defund and/or dismantle your police who is going to protect you later. Like real question, next time you call 911 who will come to your aid?

    • @alisakumm9165
      @alisakumm9165 4 года назад +30

@@sonyguerra230 The idea is not for it to stay that way. You dismantle it and rebuild it and if officers from the former force want to join the new force, they have to reapply. That way you can sort out the so-called "bad apples" and establish new, better structures.
And the idea of defunding is not that the police don't get any more money but that you can invest part of the former police budget in social projects that prevent crime instead of beating down on it hard after it's already too late. Also, police don't really need military grade equipment (which they get money for as well). The only thing that enforces is the idea that police can and should use said equipment against the people they should be protecting.

Blaming Trump instead?

bai Asgard “Police in democratic cities kill democrats? Instead of interrogating Democrats you go and boycott Trump.”And what source did you pull this from. How do you know all of this.Oh wait you don’t it’s just a faulty theory that you have.Police don’t come up to people and ask them if they are democrat or republican, that’s stupid that you are saying it like that.Ur making a theory that is on one group.Democrats you can’t just base all of the Democrats as them all having the same beliefs and they all support the same things. The fact that you are using a large group as “Democrats” and “democratic cities” is really stupid because you basing a theory on such a large amount of people without any research or any sources available.Next time don’t just put stupid theories up in the air.

On July 7, 2016, Micah Xavier Johnson ambushed and fired upon a group of police officers in Dallas, Texas, killing five officers and injuring nine others. Two civilians were also wounded. Johnson was an Army Reserve Afghan War veteran and was angry over police shootings of black men and stated that he wanted to kill white people, especially white police officers.

It would be easy to agree with if we give up and accept that the way things have being somehow beyond our influence, it's not. To do so would be basically capitulating to fascism. However, the people have spoken and it's up to us, all over the world to continue to demand change.
