Have them both. The fit is tts on both and have on problem with heel lock on the Hoka. I do use the runners knot. The drop on the Superblast feels close to 10mm and would like to see asics make the drop 4mm to 6mm in the future. Both amazing shoes and I recommend them.
I agree. Superblast 2 was released on ASICS website in OZ on Sept 1 & immediately sold out, within hours, in my Womens' US 7. 5 & equivalent Men's US 6. (described as unisex shoe) And that was with a limit of 1pr per person!!!! C'mon ASICS you need to match the supply to the demand especially in poular sizes. 👟👟👟👟👟👟👟👟👟👟😢😮
my impression on this hoka mach x 2 was that heel to toe transition was so silky like cloud, the real cloud i mean. the both two colors of upper body also look nice, successful and comfy. it is a bit pricey then the other hola models, but i think it's worth buying it.
Superblast 2 outsole rubbers durability would be a clear winner. Mach X around 100 km already missing some rear rubber sign. Mach X2 looks like same outsole material.
It does seem like the newer gen of Hokas fair quite a bit better... I've seen reports of people with Mach 6s go well past 400 miles, I have 250 on my pair and can easily see hitting that. Still, plenty of reports of people with Superblasts hitting 600+, so definitely a consideration.
Just did a comparison of Superblast vs Mach x2 - no comparison- the Mach x2 felt supercharged next to the Superblast - which just felt flat like my standard ASICS with bouncier cushioning. I bought Mach x2s and love them
I've been using the Mach X as a direct replacement for the Glideride 3. Similar cushioning, soft foam top, plate and firm foam bottom with a deep rocker. Getting pretty much same feeling from easy to tempo. Seems there will be a divergence from Mach X2 and Glideride Max. Will be torn which one to get as my do-it-all. I think the plate is more for structure imo.
Hi Nick, great compare! Now I'm really interested in Mach X2. As you mentioned, Mach X2 looks really better for speed workouts than Superblast? Maybe on the track yes. I agree. I love Superblast version 1. I have more than 800km in Superblast, very verstatile and comfortable shoe. Yesterday did fartlek 4x 5 min and then 8x 1min ON/OFF and was able easily run pace ~3:45-3:50/K in Superblast, but on the road not the track. But I like Mach X2 and thinking to get it. Do you really recomment Mach X2 to add to rotation with Superblast? Mach X2 for speedier trainings and also on th track feels good though it's big stack shoe? Thanks a lot. Peter
For me, 6’2” 238lbs, the Mach x2 seems to be a little depressing. Nothing near response that I expected. Superblast 2 definitely seems to work best for me so far.
Great video Nick! Long time fan here: I currently have the SB1 (550km mileage atm) which I am wearing for all my trainings (80-20) towards my first marathon. I also have a pair of Endorphin Speed Pro 3 for race day. I am torn between getting a pair of SB2 to eventually replace the SB1s or buy the Mach X2s to give a bit of variation and that nimble feeling for speed workouts. After the marathon, I am planning to start my journey completing the SuperHalfs. What would you do? I love the SB1s and I think they still have plenty of kms in them (that shoe is unstoppable) so perhaps I don’t need the SB2s now… Thanks!
Mach x2 wouldn’t be a do it all shoe. You would need a pair of easy run shoes like the Triumph or Hoka Skyfkow to go with it and they’ll make a great rotation
SB2 was a lovely run but super hard for the general public to get ahold of. The Mach X2 is awesome under foot but goodness gracious if you have a normal or wide width foot that thing is terrible. And just why on that heel counter 😂. I don’t know how I can like and dislike a shoe so much at the same time.

Superblasts are harder to get hold of than unicorn horns 😂
Yes might as well rate unicorn horn shoes vs x2 cause can’t get them 😂. I am starting to think they are a mythical shoe
I would chose Hoka cause I can buy it somewhere. Superblast 2 is myth at this point.

@@lizbee726 I tend to find them in small or really large sizes easily, but UK9.5 is a mythical thing
Is the EVA Hoka uses in their newer two-layer foam designs the same formulation that they use in their older designs like Clifton and Bondi?
I’m happy I picked up a second pair of the superblast 2. I found 1. 11 1/2 and was like I’m never going to find another probably until the fall
Thanks, great review and agree with Mach X2 over the Superblast, ran 8k PB in Mach X2
Finally managed to get my hands on a pair of the SB2, some sizes appeared on the Asics website today and luckily some in my size 🎉

This man is a speed demon

Great review, I find the Mach 6 in WIDE not really wide.. Does the Mach X2 have sidewalls at the front of the shoe where the toes are?
Please do Mach X2 vs. Hyperion Max2

Congrats for the review Nick! I want to ask you something irrelevant.. I like your Garmin nylon strap! Can you give me a link?

For me the sb2 are super clunky. Been thinking about going for the Mach x2 myself

@@snowwalker9999 Good point! I forgot to mention that I also have the Nimbus 25 for easy runs and recovery.
@@Pbat23 then you’re all set. I would test them before buying though.
Just bought the Hoka X2 , my Superblast have been on order for more than 3 months, what’s are ASICS doing?
for a marathon just under 3 hours, are these Mach X2s without carbon plate or Rocket X2s with plate better?

Superblast looks and feels massive on your feet … Mach X2 is a much better looking shoe, but the minimalistic heel is not going to suit everyone 👍
What is an once !?!? I know the standard measurements grams but ounces ... 9 is that equal to 3 sheep??
9 pencils or 9 cups of corn flakes strapped to your bare feet 🦶
Unplated vs plated? Those arent real contenders. Superblast 2 alternatives are rather Hoka Mach 6 or NB Rebel v4.
