i think the other thing i'm trying to get my head around is: WILL it be capable of playing anything other than Remote Play stuff? i don't see them putting a beefy chip in there to like... emulate games or run android or something. i just don't get it.
no joke: i think releasing a new version of the dualsense controller that acts like a wii u gamepad AND allows you to use remote play when away from the tv is much more interesting than just a weird remote-play-only handheld device
I 100% agree with all your points about the new handheld system. My coworker today was talking about how he thought it was a good idea and I asked him the last time he ever connected a controller to his phone and used remote play before and it got him thinking.
I don't think that what they are saying is going to be the final product regarding this I think that this will be a new system that allows you to play PS Vita, PS 4/5 games on the go
PlayStation global RUclips channels have recently uploaded remote play ads. Which might coincide with that rumor. The rumored handheld is not even its own platform, it's just a remote play thing. So this QLite, the rumored handheld device is not a platform, it requires an existing PS5 to play. Such a shameless slug if you ask me. That's just plain laziness. Sony's R&D should do better than that. If you don't have a PS5, that device will be just a paperweight.
This is already do-able. If I wanted to not play on my bigger TV anyway. It's basically a Sony-branded remote play device. And you can't be too far away from the PS5? Bad timing, considering the ability of Steam Deck and the other gaming PC handhelds these days.
The persona track is what I use when writing papers for grad school or planning dnd sessions. Pure vibes.
it's just the most chill thing in the world
I saw the thumbnail and immediately thought of the Backbone. You're right that it makes no sense. They basically already have this.

Sony really looked at the Wii U Gamepad and said “let’s do that”
Yeah like, a generation way too late. It’s been a while since Sony copied Nintendo.

Wait this is happening now, we'll see how it compares to the steam deck and the upcoming ROG Ally!

should be a cloud gaming device with a feature of remote play
This is already do-able. If I wanted to not play on my bigger TV anyway.

I have a feeling these rumours are nonsense. None of this makes any sense at all.
i agree, there's definitely something missing from the picture here.
Says the Nintendo switch fanboy 😂
