- I purchased this YJ Jeep Wrangler from a Salvage lot north of Sheridan, WY with hopes of restoring it. I spend 62 hours renovating the Wrangler in my garage. Luckily, the engine was in great shape and it was the least of my worries as I dove into the build.

I owned my Jeep YJ since it was brand new. It's a 1995 Jeep Wrangler. When I first bought it, it had only 9 miles on it. I still drive to work every day.
After having so much trouble with the new fiat Jeeps. Looking to get a real jeep from the past. A YJ or CJ would be awesome. I do have to admit a Jurassic Park YJ build is very tempting to me haha.
I was lucky to get my hands on a ‘92 yj back in high school. Never sold it even though i came close to doing so multiple times. Now I’m married and my wife is a big fan of Jurassic Park and now i have a project vehicle that I’ve held onto for 21 years.
Congrats mate! You've done an awesome job. The Jeep looks sick. The green paint with the tan interior and roll bar is a killer combo. You should be proud of your work.
I like this build. It is sensible. 1.5" lift. 31" tires. The Monster Liner in O.D. green. New seats and center console and door cards and seals.64 hours into a salvage YJ resulted in a vehicle I'd be happy to drive anywhere I want to go.
I've been thinking about a similar kind of project. I've got a 2015 Renegade Trailhawk, and while I have really enjoyed it, I'm at the mercy of Stellantis to keep it on the road. I have a CJ 2A that I could probably keep running forever, but it isn't suitable for highway driving. I'm thinking about selling them both and replacing with a YJ, which I'd "resto-mildly mod" so it works on the highway and the majority of open, legal routes on Forest Service and BLM land.
Now, to find the right YJ to start with.......

Nice transformation. Color looks great. I would definitely get a fare lead on the winch mount if you haven’t already done so.

Awesome job.....I was fortunate to get my sister in law's hand me down...a 100 percent stock 95 YJ....which had spent the last 20 years up north in Santa Cruz, California....garaged even.....😱😱 Still looking pondering on upgrades...and the lift kit you used seems like the way I want to go in terms of a lift and suspension upgrades. Thanks for sharing your build.
