In my dreams, Katie and Hubble are still together. Grew old together. The magical power of movies, amazing story and great actors. Stays with you for years.
Perfection. What a classy beautiful man. So wonderful to see the two on stage together and the perfect person to present him the award. Two class acts.
Just watched The Way We Were again...this video of Roberts award is so perfect showing us the kind of man he is ...I have so much love & respect for him. Thank you Robert...for everything you have given us all. ❤️
Robert is not only great actor and director, beautiful not only from outside but also from inside, because from what I heard he is amazingly great character and as such known as a man loved by Hollywood what is true rarity.
This is Robert Redford, he who is full of gentle Grace. He who is full of remarkable Kindness. He who is full of quiet Wisdom. He who is full of emotional Integrity. He who is a true measure of a Man. He who is truly the reflection of Love and Humanity inside and outside. What a Heavenly and rare Treasure to behold. I have adored you Mr. Redford from the moment I watched 'The Way We Were', for I could feel the depth of your Soul and beautiful Spirit captured in every scene....... even at 10 years of age.
James Barnes I am also a fan of Robert Redford and of the female gender. I love your commentary from one fan to another again I appreciate your commentary about Robert Redford's attributes I believe for you to write this eloquent commentary makes me think that it takes one to know one, so you must identify with some of these attributes so whoever you are I appreciate it this beautiful commentary from one fan to another and its people like Robert Redford and I want to say I just stars that I believe have these same attributes which would be Paul Newman it come to mine and Gregory Peck and these are just a few that come to mind for right now I know there's more especially from the old school and I can only question these days where is this type of man well I believe and it seems like I found 1 in you one today in your commentary I believe you sir are one of them. And if you have any aspirations to write do so find your Niche I will read it thank you for your enjoyable commentary from one fan to another
I'm straight and have been enjoying movies for over 50 years. I have to admit to being very envious of Redford's good looks. He makes Brad Pitt look second-rate. Even his hair is perfect. And great actor.
Robert Redford is a very sincere, correct and transparent person .He is an excellent actor and he has never won an Oscar for "Best Actor". On several occasions he deserved to win but never won. He is 77 years old and waited his whole life for this Oscar. He won Best Director and Honorary Oscar, but never " "Best Actor". I believe that because he is a person who is not afraid to say what he thinks and believes in what is fair. Robert Redford was not nominated " Best Actor" for Oscar 2014 and he deserved to win for "All Is Lost" . An injustice, "again" !..."Robert never forget ....you're " Best Actor " at the heart of many people"
This is what giving an honorary Oscar speech is all about. Robert Redford is THE man! Truly one of the great actors of all time. He would have been a great politician and a President of United States.
He rec'd the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama in 2016. That was thrilling event with basketball greats KAREEM ABDUL JABBAR, MICHAEL JORDAN and actor Robert DeNiro and TV host Ellen DeGeneras
What a class act and a gentlemen. I could listen to him talk about anything all day. I always learn something about life. Not just acting. His acting is so underrated.
Class act. No other way to say it - what an incredibly elegant, and articulate man. And such a breath of fresh, artistic air in lieu of the commercial bullshit!
Man, he is still one handsome fella but whats striking is his personality and humbleness. I applaud all the work he's been doing and has done. What a way to honor him. An American icon indeed. He's a very thought provoking man and so passionate about the freedom of artistic expression. :)
One of the greatest actors ever, yet often underestimated because his acting is so understated that one almost doesn't notice he's acting! I love all of his movies, and am so glad he got this!
In his heyday, Robert Redford was the best looking actor in Hollywood. There is no actor today that matches how handsome he was. He was breath taking to look at whenever he was onscreen. Even the women couldn't match him onscreen.😎😍
My sentimental favorite performance by Redford was as a twenty-something, wounded police officer in a classic Twilight Zone episode, "Nothing In the Dark." Even all those years ago, you could so clearly, and eloquently see all of the marvelous heart and sensitivity of this marvelous actor. God bless him.
First saw Redford in "Jeremiah Johnson". He was awesome...and still is a greatly talented man. Loved "Ordinary People"...thought Mary Tyler Moore should have won that Oscar.
What a unique gentleman. Classy, elegant, handsome, humble. I have been his fan since I was a teenager and I have enjoyed his work as director and as actor since then. He is one of a kind. There are not many like him anymore.
well done Mr. Redford you're an american treasure that gave us many hours of pleasure with your many talents ,pure genius and devotion. you have lived up to the word to much is given, much is required. You have done that.
it is incredible that actors of the caliber of Robert Redford, Paul Newman and in the future Leonardo di Caprio, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt are recognized as amazing actors only near the end of their careers....they should be celebrated while they give incredible performances not after!!
Man when you see these two larger than life giants on the stage together, you can't help but to realize how the industry had changed. Streisand and Redford really are two of the most conic and legendary REAL movie stars we have left; both truly in league of their own.
What is missing today is DEPTH. Very few of today's Hollywood people are as educated or as intelligent and they lack the capacity to express themselves eloquently. I cannot imagine many (any?) of them reading Tolstoy or Dostoyevsky, or knowing much about really great artists such as Stravinsky, Debussy or Brahms. They are mostly 2-dimensional people living in a 3-dimensional world.
I can relate to your mother, he is one of my favorite all time actors my mom and dad watched his movies over the years, definitely one of the greats of our time.
I watch the clips from a lot of the Oscar ceremonies from years ago and I think, "Gee, who in today's generation of "artists" will leave such an indelible mark on film?" There will be very few. I hate to think that the best on the silver screen is behind us, but I find myself watching TCM more than any other channel and enjoying the same movies over and over again. Thank goodness those classics are so readily available today.
With everything Robert Redford has going for him his most remarkable attribute is his humility in humanity. It was great to see him on stage with Barbra Streisand again. She gave a wonderful presentation. God Bless them!
That's why the Oscars today isn't taken too seriously anymore. Bob Hope did it best. People were serious then. It was all career, glamor and humor last. Legends are dropping like flies. They are ignored over people (recent winners) getting recognition for being a button pusher, for reasons of sex or scandal, never something honorable or deserving like their acting and passion. Robert will always be someone I hold in high regard because he just cares about the craft, not the golden image.
I have always loved Robert Redford as an actor, activist and lovely man! I have had the honor of viewing everyone of his films! I'm glad I grew up in his time! Peace!
A fitting introduction from a gorgeous woman (Best female singer) to one of the 2 most gorgeous men Hollywood saw, the other is Paul Newman. Oscars were not awarded to either men on time, and if so too little too late - both unparalleled in talent and looks - to date.
Robert Redford is the man. I have not seen his movies until last year, in a movie where he is certainly over 50 years old. That movie became my favorite and i watched some of his old movies and he instantly became my favorite.
What a wonderful human being this is what I call the perfect speech for the occasion hats off to you Robert Redford love you alws evergreen Rovert Redford
Wow 🤩 I’m in Love with him he’s simply the highest grade of what Men should think about being intellectually honest and humble regardless of how much money one has well done Mr.Redford such a beautiful man and spirit
Redford is one of the very few people who deserve to be honored with this award and the articulate words of Barbra's wonderful tribute. Looking at those faces in the auditorium it is evident that women want to be close to him and men want to be him. I admire him for so many things, especially for his integrity and his very deep humanity. Bravissimo, il mio eroe e l'ispirazione creativa.
If I were in charge of the Oscars, the first thing I would do is to bring back the presentation of the Honorary Awards during the ceremony like it used to be.
I do like the zany laugh-a-minute speeches if it's a particular actor/actress way to perform, but there's none better than a serious, sincere, thought provoking speech, despite these awards being only 5 months after the World Trade Center terror attacks at the time. His wonderful considered words still resonate today and definitely to me. A truly great actor and an even better human being.
Robert Redford was one of the most handsome men alive and so super talented with so many facets. I find interesting as well about this clip is the audience. Look at these actors who were so beautiful back then. Not that they're not attractive today but they were utterly flawless back then -- Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Connelly, Ben Kingsley, Nicole Kidman, Renee Zellweger, Kate Winslet, etc etc..
This was in 1971 I was driving cab at night one of this big checker cab with a radio to get calls at that time I use to work out 10 street hudson st. that was the only company that had checker cabs in new york after that you could not see them anymore so one night working up on 90s 5th avenue a door man comes out looking for a cab so I pull up and their go's Robert Redford with his son so he get's in he tell me to take him downtown so we get to where he was going he pays for the fair then he give's me a 25 cent tip love those checker cab's
Best ending of all time in the movie The Way We Were such sadness expressed in love almost like they were both meant to be in real life. Watch that movie to the end everytime its on. Two beautiful people and perfect pair for that movie.
As a film aficianado, I looked forward to seeing iconic figures like Redford, Newman, Loren, O'Toole, Chaplin and Olivier coming on stage to acknowledge the applause of their peers for an impressive body of work that has stood the test of time. Even the In Memoriam salute has become truncated to make room for unfunny jokes by hosts that have no real connection to the film industry.
What class, what a gentleman, what an actor...let's see what did I leave out??? Oh well, doesn't matter , HE is one of the best all around guys in all of his films....way to go Mr. Redford. You are a credit to your industry.
This is a truly memorable moment at Oscars. Jane opening remarks on Robert's Legacy to the film industry followed by Robert's historic speech which signifies the role of arts and Freedom of Expression in particular for healthy lively and prosperous society 💟👌
Turner is virtualy the only cable movie network that shows classic films in the wide sreen/letterbox format without commercial interruption. They also have great original programming, i.e. archival interviews with iconic actors and directors, documentaries, etc.
Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford, two of the finest treasures in our entertainment history. We are so fortunate to have them both.
I tinglado sobre.
I feel so lucky
They both star in a film that no self-respecting women should watch.
My favorite actors, singer, in a wonderful movie with a great soundtrack! It couldn’t get better than The Way We We’re!😘💕👏👍🌺
Streisand sucks, the leftist know nothing!
What a thoughtful, intelligent, well-spoken gentleman. An artist worth celebrating.
WHAT AN EXCELLENT SPEECH. He is one of a kind human being. They don't make them like that anymore 😪
You could just feel and see how the audience was captivated by his speech.
In my dreams, Katie and Hubble are still together. Grew old together.
The magical power of movies, amazing story and great actors. Stays with you for years.
Perfection. What a classy beautiful man. So wonderful to see the two on stage together and the perfect person to present him the award. Two class acts.
A TRUE GEM OF A MAN A COMPLETE CABALLERO 💋
An exceptionally classy, innately civilized, inherently decent, highly gifted human being. What a gent.
❤️❤️❤️
Just watched The Way We Were again...this video of Roberts award is so perfect showing us the kind of man he is ...I have so much love & respect for him. Thank you Robert...for everything you have given us all. ❤️
The Way We Were .... What a love story 🌹
Apparently, Sydney Pollack didn't think it was that great.
I am french and i like very much this song.. and the movie

Wonderful speech by a wonderful man who deserved this award greatly and deserved even more of them still......
His speech is even more timely now in 2018.

Gorgeous talented man.

Eastwood is still around. Just as big of a giant in the acting industry. I would say more so. Also a brilliant director.
Seeing them together is like Beauty and The Beast. You can guess.
A Krenwinkle you are bring rude nice and I highly disagree. Both are attractive in my view!!
One of the best things about Mr. Redford is the way he tells a story. Whether it is true to the book as with A river runsc through it.
Truly one of the good guys!
Robert Redford's initiative to start SUndance has been one of the best things that hae happened to film. #academyfans #sendmetotheoscars
He was, is and will always be the complete artistic package

Barbra’s comments were quite impressive and affectionate…..he made an impression on her life..
Why shouldn't he. He is one of a kind human being they don't make them anymore like him. Now they have become liberal and not apperceive of anything

Too bad we don't have a president with the integrity of Redford.
You do!!

Best ending of all time in the movie The Way We Were such sadness expressed in love almost like they were both meant to be in real life. Watch that movie to the end everytime its on. Two beautiful people and perfect pair for that movie.
...and I always cry at the very end!!!!
What a man, actor, career and human! The legendary Robert Redford
I always thought he should run for President. One of the most honest people In the public eye.
Ladies and Gentleman, that was a class act.
Redford's intelligence and taste are very much in evidence in his direction of a great film --- Ordinary People.
What class, what a gentleman, what an actor...let's see what did I leave out??? Oh well, doesn't matter , HE is one of the best all around guys in all of his films....way to go Mr. Redford. You are a credit to your industry.

My favorite Robert Redford movie of all time........." This Property Is Condemned". With Natalie Wood. Actually my favorite movie ever.
That was indeed a good movie.
Redford embodies perfectly the Hollywood movie star
The way we were....
