I saw this interview live from the stage and I can tell you it took nearly 20 minutes to get that story out of him. He was overwhelmed with stage fright but Colbert was having the time of his life leading him through it. At the end Colbert told the audience he loved that interview with a huge sincere grin. It was the highlight of the show from a live perspective. By the moment Colbert told him none of this will go on the air it had been more than 10 minutes. They really had to chop this one down.
Lmao I can totally imagine Greg: “Hey Bill, so you’re like um the raisindent i mean um the president of the country- our country, our proud country .. tis of theee.. *pauses awkwardly* “
What a memorable first big interview! Be proud, because it's not every day that Stephen genuinely breaks into laughter like he did at 3:36. Please come back, Nicholas!
This seriously made me whole freaking day. It’s so easy to see how sweet and genuine a guy he is so quickly. I’m always so happy see people like that break through, and Greg is the role of a lifetime for him.
Good job dude. People on their first late night show appearance generally seem like robots. Nice to see someone trying to genuinely be themself on the first go around.
Funny how he was so nervous but I dont find this cringy at all... he felt so genuine and stephen was great at helping him out so I ended up laughing throughout and rooting for him to get that story out 😂
This was one of my all time favorite late night interviews! Go Nick! He was loveable, hilarious and overall seems like a genuinely nice dude. He did a great job for his first interview!!
@Nicholas Braun I wish you were the real Nicholas Braun but this is obviously a fake account. You had me so excited and then you dashed my dreams in an instant 😢
Dear god, I've just fallen hopelessly and irretrievably in love with this dork of a human. From that little dance at the beginning, to calling Bill Clinton "Bill"
This was probably my favorite Colbert interview of all time. Love Nicholas. He’s so likable and this was genuinely a funny laugh out loud interview beginning to end. Hope to see more of him.
oh my god he is so adorable and so genuine I love him!! thank you Clobert for not making him uncomfortable and not inturpting him to finish his story faster! Thats why Colbert is the freaking best
You did a great job, Nicholas Braun!! Took yourself on the stage has been a BIG achievement! I'm too SO impressed by Colbert's super clever interview/communication skills. Enjoyed this eight-minute!
He was the 3rd character shown in the first episode after Logan and Kendall. I've believed he will take over since that moment before I knew anything else about the show
Greg taking over Royco and becoming CEO does not fit the show theme at all. That would make no sense and ruin the dynamic of the entire series. He will never be CEO, but he WILL continue to work his way up by failing upwards because Greg is smart and conniving, more than he perceives to be. Hes the underdog were all rooting for, but i can guarantee he will never be ceo. The writers would never go for that, and tbh would ruin the entire series. His character is not suitable for an executive level position.
@@juules215 i get what you mean they never made Peggy Olsen creative director in mad men and when she did it was with another agency and she didn’t like it that much. I think it would end with him being in a good position in the company but it will leave it up to the audience to think where he will end up next.
I love Cousin Greg! The character reminds me of Forrest Gump. He's unintentionally got in the middle of important events in that family, and knew the secrets.
Succession is an example of how important acting is. Without this outstanding cast the show would a boring soap opera, even the "guests" (e.g. Pierce family) are fantastic.
his character just makes that show!! And to see that Nicholas Braun truly is Greg in real life .. this makes me so happy!! (The scene where he is explaining his sand mite bites.. lol)
LOVE him as Cousin Greg! This is one of the most genuinely delightful interviews I’ve ever seen with any actor on any show. Well done, Nicholas!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Saw an interview with Brian Cox & Colbert who said in Season 2 he kept calling “Greg” by his real name because he thought they were so very much alike. 😆😆
Just finished watching the show, 2 seasons, was wondering all the time how fun it must have been for the actor to act as Greg, pretend to be someone else. And oh my... he is not pretending 😂 could not even for a second imagine that when I was watching him on screen :))) Want to see more interviews with him and listen to his talks when he has more time and is not interrupted.
Saw Nicholas Braun for the first (and only time) in How I Met Your Mother forever ago. Good for him for taking a small role and becoming a big star, I hope for many more years of success for him
Watched it again because I laughed so much watching this the first time that I wanted to get a few more laughs before I go to sleep. Watching on my IPad, sleepy but HAD to watch again. 😆 Loved his imitation of Prez Clinton and the fact that he innocently called him “Bill”. Stephen’s reaction to that is perfect!! 🤣🤣🤣
Woke up with a headache and this cured all my ailments, and woke me properly, I haven't laughed so hard and sincerely at an interview in sooo long. Gonna go watch Succession now
James Clark you will love it! It’s a true glimpse of a mogul global elite human being and how they live in a very different world than we do . It’s fascinating

Thanks for the story. Colbert loves him some awkwardness. He'd bathe in it if he could.
Great story, thanks!
Thanks for the background. It was a fun interview to watch. And, if you haven't seen the show, he really is like his character Greg.
Thanks for the info, that would've been awesome to watch live. I wish they would have a show of just all the bits they cut out, I would watch it!
Did he *ever* get to the punch line where he realized it was the Clintons or did he just skip right to "Bill" and "Hillary"?
so he is cousin greg in real life. this is awesome

The definition of "adorkable." What a sweetheart.
Succession is cast perfectly. Not since The Sopranos have I seen such perfect casting. Casting can make or break a show.
I cannot be the only one who compared succession to the sopranos! I knew it! two magnificent shows
I think the wire is the best thing to ever come on TV but the sapranos is second for me and I said the same thing
I too have been thinking this! Lots of similarities. For me the sopranos is the best thing to be on tv.
@@markmittens yet another show with brilliant casting
Mad men is up their with the wire and sopranos for me. All are in a league of their own for US drama shows. Sooo good

Love him.
Tell him he's a massive fan favorite, please, and that he does an excellent job.
He is sooooo awesome! Tell him he is killing it! He comes across as genuine in his role. Love succession. Liked him as well in Sky High!
no you dont. You probably met somebody that knew him
Is he single tho
Colbert does an excellent job covering for people with stage freight. Just reassures the guest, keeps the dialect going, a true professional.

What a memorable first big interview! Be proud, because it's not every day that Stephen genuinely breaks into laughter like he did at 3:36. Please come back, Nicholas!
best part about this is he is so genuine that people who have maybe never even heard of the show probably loved this guy and began watching the show
He's either never acting or always acting. In the interview he's exactly like Greg.
I think he doesn’t act at all- in Succession, he is Greg in real life and the way he is suited perfectly this role. :)
Well, remember... he WAS told to "milk it"... he takes direction very well...
And shows how great of an actor he is! We thought he was just awkward, but he knew how to milk it 😂
My cheeks hurt from smiling at this interview...
sameeee!
Same 😅
What makes this not cringey but incredibly fascinating is that I know this would be EXACTLY me if I ever had to do this.
First time we actually see it from the perspective of a normal human. Gives "breaking the fourth wall" vibes.

he's somehow trembling and confident in his awkwardness at the same time 😭
Man, this is funny. Like Bambi on ice
Consider this phrase stolen. Buhahahaha!
Lol...cute analogy
Aww!
Just like when that scientist turns himself into a pickle
Some could say this was cringy but I loved every second of it, you’re killing it Nicholas!
No one said that
Some could say literally anything what are you talking about
It’s either this guy is such a good actor or it’s just who he is… but either way he’s way underrated on the show.
Shut up
If you didnt like this then how do you like greg, so to speak, actor is a baby face anomaly i love every bit of him
He's so endearing! I'm pretty sure that's exactly how I would act if I were ever on the show (plus a little "OMG I LOVE YOU SO MUCH STEPHEN COLBERT").
