- We are the Newbys, a family of 3 living full time in our self converted campervan, currently travelling across Europe. It's been a busy week, where we arrive back into Croatia and head towards Plitvice and Rovjn. Stick around to the end for some more unexpected twists in the Newbys story.
We visit Croatias busiest tourist attraction off season to see what it's like when there are less tourists there. Magical waterfalls and amazing colourful lakes. From there we head to Rovinj, a town that looks like a turtle.
We are the Newbys, John, Tara, and our two little boys Crusoe and Sawyer. We’re a family who are pursuing an alternative lifestyle, and after two years of full time travel we’ve taken root on an abandoned farm in Northern Portugal which we’re renovating into our dream off-grid homestead. We release new videos every Sunday sharing our story, and we’d love for you to be a part of it with us. Wow! Croatia delivered. That hike around the azure blue lakes, the forest were simply breath takingly beautiful. So well organized with the buses and boats.

I enjoyed the scenery and especially Crusoe, who has incredible situational awareness with a most pleasant demeanor, Loved him touching the rocks ans well as his indeoendence sitting on the ground at lunch, What a lifetime experience for the young lad. He is quite lovable.

Whilst watching this i was thinking what an amazing diary this is for you and for your children to watch in years to come. When you are long gone they can revisit these video's and watch their lovely parents and see the amazing experiences you gave them and how much you so obviously love him/them. What a gift.

@@TheNewbys Yes, we took lots of old fashioned video's (my husband is from Australia) then we would make a copy and send to Australia for the family and we did the same when we lived in Aus for family in England, they are now all on DVD. We have SO much footage. It's wonderful. We even have our wedding from 37 years ago, most of our older relatives - including parents are gone now, so it's wonderful to see again and hear their voices.

Absolutely magical!!! I was in the former Yugoslavia in 1988...I turned 18 there (in Dubrovnik)! I travelled all along the Adriatic coast from Zagreb to Dubrovnik with my high school choir group (from California)...I loved visiting the Plitvice Lakes...what a gorgeous people and place...ALL of the land!!! 💗💗💗

I have been glued to my iPad watching The Newbys videos for about 2 weeks. You both are doing a great job sharing your family and giving me a golden opportunity to travel and visit many places I would normally not see. I wish I could have started at your first video and watched them in order, but I am not technology smart. I tried going by the age of the video and that helped some but I am still enjoying them out of order. Keep up the good work and I will keep watching!

Just amazing scenery, beautiful part of the world, only been once in recent years to Dubrovnik but holidayed in former Yugoslavia three times and explored a fair bit then. Love to get back soon
Hi David, thanks for watching. Dubrovnik will need to wait for us a while, no time on this trip to get that far down. It was in the original plan but the we got those cheap Jordan flights and so it was all change.
3 trips to Yugoslavia you must know the area pretty well? We will be back one day and must remember to ask for some good spots from you.

Hi Graham, we also cant wait for Africa, there are so many adventures waiting for us. Today we have been looking at "must see" destinations for the first week or so, penguins, mountains, islands and of course some wine! Beautiful... I thought I heard in one of your vlogs that you want to go to all 7 continents. If I were you, I'd hold off on North and South America until sanity comes back. America has a bunch of crazy QAnon fools, anti vaxers and anti maskers. South America's got a lot of gangs who have kidnapped people. Better to be safe than sorry. Canada is beautiful and much safer. The Canadian side of Niagara Falls is fantastic. They have a butterfly garden, they land on you and I believe they have a zoo.
