    Two things I am sure of: 1. The footer is a spike not a station or launch track. I have watched enough footer constructions during the off season. That footer is huge and deep. It is going way over 200 feet tall, and it is in the right place with the right shape for a spike. 2. No announcement in Aug-Sept. They are doing the same thing as the original TTD construction. They had originally planned to announce at that time, but the hype and speculation grew so much that they delayed the announcement till January. It worked great. They are doing it again. They will drop hints to fuel speculation. Tony already said so. You will probably see the spike topped off before they disclose the height.
    Extending the tophat makes sense and explains why the crane was there for a short period. Hopefully they can do it without new base supports. If it needed massive new footers, they would already be poured. The spike can get a record. They just go to 600' rather than 500'.

    • @coasterfreakjr.

      Honestly, I hadn't thought about extending the top hat but not breaking the record with it. It does indeed make sense though because if the spike is going to be record-breaking (500+ feet) then the top hat would need to be taller for that extra speed

    First thing I am not an engineer. But engineering does run in my family. Only way I can see them extending the top hot is re-profiling the top of the top hot. Maybe like making the bend steeper then it currently is. Which instead of it rolling over the top hot. Maybe also adding a brake fin at the top to help regulate speed so it doesn’t go to much faster then then the structure can handle.

    If memory serves me correctly, the original top hate has three supports. The new cement fillers they added has 3 supports. I think a second tophat could be possible. Id prefer a second tophat over the spike. I also cant see them launching you backwards at a high speed. I just think your body will push forward. When you get pushed forward the traditional way, you push against your seat. So wouldn't you push away from your seat if they launch you backwards? I mean im not sure, it just seems like it might be unsafe to do that.

    As far as the actual construction, it's not about hiding anything. With the park open on a daily basis, there isn't going to be any major construction going on and around the top hat area or the "spike area". Once the season is over I'm sure there will be more footers in areas where people currently walk and another crane or two for "vertical" construction to really begin. The announcement with video and/or artist renderings will probably come somewhere near the end or shortly after the end of the season.

    As a structural engineer, I SERIOUSLY doubt that the top hat is getting extended. These aren't fucking Legos. You can't just stack 80 more feet on the top of a structure designed to be 420 feet tall. Everything about that structure would need modified to do that, so much so that it would basically be a new tower.

  • @lfoster4525
    @lfoster4525 Год назад +1

    I think the reimagining of TTD will have the original 420ft top hat along with a 500ft+ top hat and would consequently (in a good way) have another element or elements of some sort to bleed off the 500ft+ top hat energy!
    During an exclusive visit, RUclips channel, COASTER LEGEND, received a keychain that looks like the initials CP in red and gray but I think it’s an Easter egg signifying two top hats for the the reimagined TTD! One could only hope, right?😁

    I've been saying that they will make the top hat taller from the start, It will be 150mph to break the record and that it is most certainly.. NOT a spike. I still believe all three. There's no launching backwards.. that's a bunch of neck injury lawsuits waiting to happen. I do think they will take the twist in the top hat out and launch from the other side (opposite way around the track) and the new footer is for some kind of huge looping turnaround.. and possibly the highest inversion. Also I'm always skeptical of "inside people" right now there's probably only 10 people in the entire world who know for sure what's happening. The people who build the track don't even get full plans.. they get drawings of one section at a time. The contractors who made those footings.. same thing, they have plans for the footings and nothing else. They do this specifically to help eliminate leaks.

    I suggested your theory on other videos a month ago. It just doesn't make sense for the spike to be taller than the top hat. And, as a structural engineer, the top hat rework may not be too bad consider all of the dynamic loads at the bottom will be the same. They are really just changing the wind and ice loading, which the existing foundations may be able to support already.

    There’s a problem with physics with his video. If the top hat gets extended to 500 feet, then the vertical spike Hass to be much taller than the top hat. 500 foot spike in a 500 foot top hate, the train would never make it over the top hat. It would begin to immediately lose speed, and would never make it over. Now maybe with LMS bringing a back up to speed to make it over the top hat, good work however, I believe they can only launch up to 120 or 125 mph. That’s not fast enough.
    The other issue, a 500 foot tall spike. If the trains are launched backwards, it is a very short amount of time for those trains to get up to speed to make it up 500 feet.
    I’m just throwing this out there, just a thought. Perhaps that spike will be use just as a lift to bring the train to 500 feet that would mean the lift spike would have to be at least 520 feet tall in order for it to count as a hight record for all riders.
    If the top hat is extended to 500 feet, the spike would have to be at the very least just over 600 feet.

    First of all, if they were going to do this, they'd have to include Intamin.
    second, I believe that they can get the height record by having a really high spike which we know they are building . The spike can be 500 feet which would make it easy for the train to clear the current top hat, most likely faster than Dragster did previously.
    I also think that they are going to do a ground up coaster within 2 years of the Dragster project being complete. For that, i ALSO think they need to tap Intamin as they have created some fantastic coasters in tight footprints

    • @coasterfreakjr.
      @coasterfreakjr.  Год назад +2

      I agree that Intamin should also be involved in this project and the ones in the future. A 500-foot spike wouldn't break the record because the whole train has to clear the 500-foot mark for the record to be valid. I don't really like the idea of a initial backwards launch since that might cause riders possible neck and back injuries from whiplash. Forward launches are more powerful since riders can brace themselves against the headrests but have nothing in front of them if they were to launch backwards. Backwards launches have to be less intense because of this.
    I thought of a concept. Since many of us are conflicted as to whether the ride should retain its original launch intensity or have a swing launch/vertical spike. They could give us options on which experience we get kind of like Fury at Bobbejaanland (Forwards and Backwards) or Tornado at Bakken (Non-boost and Boost) with a few switch tracks and probably two stations. Option 1 will be for those traditional intense launch as powerful or close to the acceleration it originally was so with one launch it will go up and over the top hat and onto the rest of the ride. While Option 2 will be for anyone who wants multiple launches with a vertical spike so it will have a slightly slower launch and rollback from the top hat up the spike and then back over the top hat and onto the rest of the ride. That way almost everyone is satisfied!

    I'm sorry but this doesn't even sound right, a 500ft top hat!!!!!! you guys act like CF is like Disney or Universal with deep pockets, they spent millions when they RMC Mean streak, they are still in dept that's why they built a wild mouse and move some old rides around and renaming them. How are they going to extend a top hat without Intamin involvement, that's their track design and I don't think another manufacturer wants to duplicate just a top hat track without redesigning the entire coaster. CP not going to spend loads of millions of dollars just to retrofit a almost 20 year old coaster with the same layout, they rather take that and build something new from the ground up that no other park has. In my opinion, I think they are going to refurbish the launch track, add a twisted spike paying amish to wicked twister LOL or a straight track spike not 500ft tho, maybe 300ft/400ft or add a tall loop after the drop like dodonpa at fuji Q highland in Japan and theme the crap out of it, wala!!!!! Boom. 😉😊

    Why would you have the footers behind the station if there is no spike?

      Some people think it’s for a station extension. I don’t personally believe it to be anything other than a spike.

    In September and October of 2022 they took down the top hat for a bit before rebuilding it so they would have extended the top hat already.
