Well young lady, I am an old coot, and when I was your age we had a Ford tractor to use a sickle bar on for cutting a 20 acre pasture. It was the neatest old tractor and I always had a soft spot for the Ford tractor. I watch in awe at your skills and wondered, if I ever had to do something like that, could I do it. After watching the tutorial I believe I could. You are better than any manual ever will be. You are organized in dismantling and trouble shooting the problem, organized with spare parts as well as kits, and you have the warmest smile of any mechanic I have ever seen. Most mechanics are a bit salty in demeanor and they look like they could use an oil change. I don't know what your career will be but whatever you choose you will be the best I am sure.
Outstanding video. I’m retired from Caterpillar 30 years technician and this is far the best video and tutorials I have ever watched. If you have the most basic skills you can do any repairs with the videos. Outstanding again. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Young lady. Way to go! You know ur stuff. You will never want for work.
Best tractor tutorials I have ever seen. I have an 861 Ford tractor that's been sitting under a barn shed for many years. You have inspired me to rebuild it. Thanks.
Dan and Rachel - thanks for the videos. After 23 years of use, my 8N hydraulics were sketchy. Your videos took a lot of the mystery out of the hydraulic system. I purchased your top lid rebuild kit, pump rebuild kit, and a couple more parts. Finished rebuilding it last night and it lifts great now!
I love the passion you have working on these old tractors. I have a 1949- 8N and it was my grandfather's tractor. I think it's great that you make these videos, you must of had a great teacher
You should do a tutorial on how to create RUclips tutorials! This is my go-to Channel for all things red and gray tractor related! The fact that you also offer a great selection of parts and kits for said same is a bonus! The kits are well thought out, and reasonably priced as well. Big Kudos!
Rachel, you're doing a great job of explaining how and why you are fixing a problem. I'd like to see you slow down and tell us that we need to clean all the bad grease out of the inner parts of the main tractor. You can't get these things to clean. Your fix will last longer and you will be a happier young lady. I have a Fordson Dexta that needs a clutch put in it. When it warms up I'll have a go at it. I completely restored this tractor from front to back, everything. I wish now I'd have put a new clutch in it. Mine has live power so I have two clutches in it. It's a great little tractor. Keep up the good work your doing quite well, just take your time and you will do a lot better. And don't worry that your video is going to be long, If my tractor needed what your doing to your tractor I'd love to see it all go together, I'm sure everyone will watch it till the end. God Bless you youngin mark
Just got a ‘39 9N with the top lid disassembled and had never worked on that before. This was so helpful to get everything back together properly. Thank you so much!
You do a great presentation and show much knowledge. I gave away my 8n around 25 years ago and it was given back to me last week. No lift and much water in the gearboxes. Look like I will be ordering parts once I get it all apart. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Rachel , I am so excited , I just bought a 195? Ford 800 5 speed . It was a Barn find . Hasn't ran in 10-20 years possibly . With your help , videos tutorials and parts it sure makes it so much easier to tackle . Keep up the good work .
Thanks for this video and the parts I ordered from your site. I just finished repairing the piston on my 8n and works great! Arms stay up and don’t drift down anymore. Thanks again.
Pratim tvoje popravke na masejferguson. I mogu ti reći, da je isto kao imt533 made in Serbia. Svaka ti čast na snimcima i na popravkama. Lepo je videti damu da radi mehaniku. Pozdrav veliki!!!!!
Hi Rachel - Don't I remember you on the Steiner Tractor channel? I thought you were awesome there and it is no different here. Its great to see some traditions being passed down regardless of gender. Your knowledge is impressive. Thanks for sharing it. I'm sure you've have some struggles but you're still going. Keep it up! BTW - I bet that piston went half way crossed the parking lot. I've done that too many times. After a while I started putting a rag cushion in front of them for safety.
You guys do a really good job. I enjoy your videos. They are very well done. I use them as reminders and points of reference before I start tearing something apart. It might be good to do a video on replacing 8n axle seals. Maybe include a little tidbit on how the brakes don't seem to work very well sometimes when the axle seals are bad and the oil is leaking all over the shoes and drums.... I am about to get into that today. I find myself wishing you guys had a video on it... Thanks!
If you get a chance, hoping ya'll make a video on steering rebuild. I see a bunch of slack on my left Pitman arm at sector shaft, wondering how to correct.
As all your video's they are great well thought out direct and to the point.....I went to your website and ordered all my parts. I could not find the complete kit with it all in one package 3 point lift kit for a Jubilee
This is fantastic! I have inherited a 55’ Ford (I believe an 800 series). It was what I learned to drive on. I am going to restore it this winter (top to bottom, engine hydraulics breaks... etc). You provide a lot of great info, and in return I would like to buy the parts from you. Where should I start?
Love your in detail videos. We have a 235 diesel that has never let me down. Today I'm working on our new arrival 1988 Ford 655a backhoe. I'm hoping you might have some ideas or a video or possibly direct me to someone that can help guide me to figuring out why it stops moving when warmed up?
Thanks for doing these videos. I have a 9N that the PTO has quit working and your videos are so much better than looking at a manual for repairs. I'm going to have to split my 9N to find my issue, and chance you will be doing a video on that in the future? Great stuff, keep it up.
You lady very smart I'm very proud of you, I have a 58 ford tractor and have hydraulic problem lifting, I like to work on all mechanic work but I can't see to good, can you fix my tractor?
Nossa muito difícil ver uma garota se interessar por uma área dessa de mecânica, ainda por cima mecânica de tratores, está de parabéns pela beleza e pelo que faz!!!!!
You said you used a piston from a jubilee. What improvements are there when using that one instead of one for an 8n does it make a difference on the operation of the lift? Thanks really enjoy your videos they are very helpful
Got the kit with piston and cylinder couldn't get lid to fit back on found nee cylinder was to long and hitting the front of the housing of the tractor. Had to have material removed from the back of the cylinder to get it to fit properly. After that it all works great.
Great videos you have. Question for you as I have a Ford 8n that I was plowing with and hit a tree root big enough to stop my tractor. Once unstuck, my hydraulics won't lift up at all. Have taken the top cover off and made sure the rod went back into the proper position and while apart made sure the oil pumps up through the pipe. The draft control plunger spring is loose and will be changing it out. Would this be the only reason the lift arms will not move up? Every thing I see inside the hydraulic system looks and works as it should. Thanks for your input. Mark
Hi Rachel was wondering what could cause the 3 point hitch to keep going up when you move the lever just a touch. This is on a ford 4610 tractor. Love ur vids
Dan and or Rachel: I drained the fluid from my transmission on an 8N I purchased yesterday. I saw that it said to use 5 gallons of fluid, which I did use but now the "FULL" mark on the dipstick is about in the middle of the actual level on the dipstick. Any common causes for that issue? Thank you much for the video. I am going to use this information to diagnose why the 3 point does not work on my tractor.
WOW, Just WOW, she knows her stuff, Thanks for your video, it is very informative and helped my better understand several things on these old tractors. I have an old Ford 3000 Diesel. Having lift problems and will not shift into 1st and 3rd (odd shift pattern, 1st & 3rd are far right up 1st and down 3rd). I think the end of my shift rod may be bent and not letting it move over far enough to get into gear. I unbolted the top cover so it would slide around and it goes into all gears fine, but when i tighten all the bolts back up no right side gears. Appreciate any opinions or ideas to solve this.
Enjoy your videos they are great, Have a question after rebuilding the upper lid for my hydraulics the lift arms (under load) will slowly drift down but at a certain point it will jerk back up to the selected height will continue this over and over while tractor is running but if tractor is not running it will hold the load at the height that it was when tractor was shut down. What could be my trouble ?
I just came upon your channel quite by accident, but i am amzed at your knowledge and expertise for your age. ALSO I AM VERY HAPPY TO SEE A GIRL WHO DOESN'T MIND GETTING OILY DIRT UNDER HER FINGERNAILS. wher if i may ask you trained as a mechanic
My 3 point bleeds off and lowers when I press the Clutch Is this caused by this upper piston assembly or a pressure relief valve at the PUMP? I saw You push on the Arm with the tractor off to test one of its features I'm curious if My bleed off issue is because the piston leaking down? Ken in Florida
Great video. I have a question. I want to rebuild the top cover on my 2N. Is there a rebuild kit or list of parts needed? Figured just rebuild the whole thing while it was out. Does that make sense? Thanks, Richard
Could you do a video of how a lift control should work? My lift only uses the top 2 inch of the control... should it lift from the second you pull the handle up from the bottom and should it not drop and hold the position of where your handle control would be? Like 1/4 lift 1/2 lift 3/4 lift full lift and same as for lowering as opposed to all the control function just being at the top?
I have watched several of your videos. I am going to put a carb kit in my farmall model A. It has a zenith carb on it. When I went to your web site there was nothing for a model A, 100, 130, 140. I could only find carb kits for a cub. Can you help me?
She dont need to work for anyone. Hopefully she teaches her kids including the husband. I didn't know anything about tractor and I'm I have some knowledge. Love her and wish her a long happy life
I have a 8n hydraulic goes all the way up and down without a load if I pick up bale of hay it will not go all the way up then when you try to lower it it won’t move till I move the draft control the it goes down draft control if in right position and ideal what to check ? thanks
A friend of mine had an 8N and not only were the hydraulic sluggish, but the draft wouldn't work. A mechanic drained it and put in hydraulic oil but was even worse. We drained it and put in the mineral oil and it worked much better. I suspect the pump may have needed this repair.

I love you video, you're a great teacher, I'd really like to see some video tutorial on International harvester of early 60"s, if possible. mine is a 504 in good shape but I'd like to rehaul it.
What is the difference between the lift rocker that’s shown at 7:23 with 3 places to attach the center link, and mine which only has 1? Does it have to do with changing the sensitivity of your draft control?
I have a golden jubilee. I let it set for 2 years and when i got it back out to dig post holes with my auger when i lift the 3 point it jumps up so fast it's dangerous. Rachel. I followed your video tutorial and fixed the hydraulics on my 🚜. Thank you for all of the information you’ve shared. A customer for life.
I have re-watched this video several times because I am getting ready to service the top lid on my 1952 Ford 8N. Thanks for all the good info Rachel!

Love this woman, very knowledgeable and love how she explains the details and things you may run into... great videos..
There are many girls, and many Rachels, but I´ve never seen one like this! This is the best of the best!

I buy my parts from your site, just because your videos have helped me so many times. :) thanks a bunch

Rachel- You are a very impressive young lady! Your videos are excellent and I always marvel at your knowledge of these tractors. Thank you!!
Cork and leather still going strong even in 2020. Thank you, Dad and Grandpa for helping mold this masterpiece of a mechanic.
Thanks for this video and the parts I ordered from your site. I just finished repairing the piston on my 8n and works great! Arms stay up and don’t drift down anymore. Thanks again.
You have to lube that O-ring before installing the piston into the cylinder. Might even help avoid tearing it during installation.
I just bought a 1942 9N so thank you for these informative videos. I need to learn as much as I can 👍🏻
Top lid kit ordered. Thank you.
Bought parts from you mostly because of these great videos.
Good job on the repair videos ! I would like to see the same type video on the 600 to 900 series fords . Thank you .
Rachel and her Dad must have the greatest relationship in the world. Great videos every one.

I think I'm in love.
Yep. I call this channel my tractor porn.

Great to hear they have cast iron disks for the lift lever; now I want to replace the aluminum one mine has

I saw You push on the Arm with the tractor off to test one of its features

Great detail on this repair.
any tips on re attaching the T ball with sockets on the 9n? i can get one side in but not the other.

You are the real deal.
Very good job
Please do some ipto repair videos on a 135=) Its really hard to find any good info out there on the ipto system on the Massey Ferguson 135 as some of those have the later ipto and its more difficult to work on compared to the MH-30 or 65

What would your opinion be if when I push the clutch in the 3 point hitch rapidly drop to the ground? I hope I get a response, I'm stranded here.
Rachel, I have a 53 Golden Jubilee that is between gears, I need some advice. Don
I need to change psi relief valve but to cold now but still working ok
Very helpful information. Thank you for sharing!
Keep up the 8n videos please! :)
I just purchased 8n and its great
Would this be the same on a ford 800?
Woo! Not afraid to get dirty to show us how to do it! A+
Can that oil be used in a harry Ferguson
What causes the pto to kick out of gear unless you force it to stay engaged and is it a hard thing to fix
I don't own a tractor, but....... very good information.
I have a golden jubilee. I let it set for 2 years and when i got it back out to dig post holes with my auger when i lift the 3 point it jumps up so fast it's dangerous. It has slowly blead down for years but would take an hour to leak down with a implement on it .any suggestions? If needed i could make a video of it doing it. Thank you
