- In this video I walk through the process of creating some realistic effects on these Accurascale PTA wagons.
Taking a look at paint bleaching effects and typical surface dirt seen on many pieces of rolling stock on the rail network.
All effects in this video are done by using vallejo air paints.
Theses are the best weathering results I’ve seen to date. I’ll be using these techniques for sure, amazing work.
Incredible work, and very therapeutic music too.
Great faded look Tim
Wow wagons look fantastic
Great video and I love the ambient music , thanks
Cheers. Hopefully made it easy to follow.
Superb modelling again!
Many thanks.
Excellent work you mucky pup.
Great wagons weathered by an expert.
Top marks
Cheers Alex.
Very inspiring. Combined with the music I found the whole process revealing & therapeutic in equal measure. Thks.
Thanks.
Love that technique of fully applying paint then removing some with IPA, very effective Tim, they look superb.
Thanks. There's more coming off the back end of this technique soon.
Very nice video, I've definitely learnt something 😀
Great result Tim and a very timely video as I've recently purchased a set of the VTG livery, fantastic models. Will be giving them a mucking up following the 'Master's' techniques. Hope you're all well, regards Bobby 'T'.
Fantastic! The bleaching effect is spot on Great work! Looking forward to seeing them in action in a future video 👏
Thanks. Unfortunately these wagons were a commission and won't feature on the layout. Shame as they're a stunning model.
Fantastic job Tim i love the way you do the faded/bleaching effect on the wagons it looks really effective those wagons will really look the part when they have loads in them. Cheers and all the best.
Nicholas.
Thanks Nik.
good work you dis as always keep up the good work you do on the layout and things
Thanks.
Enjoyed this!! Still not brave enough to try it on our own ones 😂🙈
Superb going to do the same on mine
Cheers. Glad it's inspired you to have a go. Crucial thing to remember is if you layer up and seal anything between coats it has to be gloss varnish. Never use matt with exception for the final layer to seal the model for protection.
@@thescrapline4905 ok will do, Thankyou 👍👍
Hi Tim as always a very well explained video which has great results . I have a few of the Lima versions of the wagons so might have a go but using brushes as I have yet to bite the bullet and get an airbrush. I have one of the wagons with the orange end but want the all grey version so what would you suggest is the best paint matcjh for the grey ?
Cheers Kev
Thanks Kevin. Time to invest in an airbrush! *thought I'd never see myself telling someone that lol.
Last question any advice on what to look out for with a starter airbrush
Excellent & informative video that I'm going to attempt to copy (albeit on a Bachmann OCA 1st!!).
One question, do you allow the paint to dry after flicking on the rust spots and the next step?
Thanks! Yep once the spots are flicked on I set them aside for an hour minimum. These paints, despite being acrylic do take a fair amount of time to dry.
Hi, looking to follow your methods on a couple of wagons. Do you let the paint dry before applying the isopropanol alcohol mix?
Thanks. Not fully, I make sure I get on it within 20 minutes of putting it on. Vallejo paints take a couple of hours + to fully cure so avoid leaving it to long.
@@thescrapline4905 thanks for the tip
Great video . hope you like mine diesel dave's
