Michel did an arrangement of this song for Sarah Vaughan that is on spotify and will knock your socks off. Beautiful strings with Sarah’s sublime voice. Awesome!
I played a solo of the song by memory on the piano at my high school's talent show in December 1972. Even over 51 years later, the song remains just as moving as it was when I first heard it on November 30, 1971.
A world without the irreplaceable Michel Legrand is a sad place. Thank you so much for the rich musical legacy that will last longer than the hands of time.
Sorry to hear of the January 26th, 2019 passing of the composer of Brians Song -The Hands Of Time Michel Le Grand , you were a brilliant and talented composer pianist ! May you quality and memorable music last FOREVER the hands of time !
Such an emotional song and movie. One of my goto films when I need a good cry. Wish I could have had the great pleasure of seeing Michael Legrand Live. What a legacy he left with the world ❤
I just came across this video and is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the greatest composer/pianist that ever lived. thank you, Michel Legrand for your great, big contribution to the music industry. your music lives on...
What a talent he was, responsible for some of the most beautiful music ever. RIP, the hands of time stopped for Michel; he passed away on 1-26-19. He worked with Alan and Marilyn who wrote lyrics for some of his most memorable work. I have been a fan for many years, and will continue to love his music.

What a beautiful tribute from legendary producer Michel Legrand❤ Brian Piccolo died from lung cancer at 26, and left a wife and three daughters in the prime of his life. He was a star running back for the Chicago Bears and was the number one rusher in the nation for Wake Forest his senior year. He and Gale Sayers were roommates and best friends…Can you imagine…I had the privilege to meet Gale at a press conference in Winter Park, FLorida and wrote the proclamation from the then Mayor he was presented with during a banquet. When I met Gale alone before the press came in, I felt as though Brian Piccolo’s spirit was actually in the room with us. It still haunts me, in a good way, to this day! True story! ❤ When we remember Brian it is not for how he died, but how he lived… how he did live! (quoted From Brian’s Song)…
This is the first time I hear this. I had heard Henry Mancini's version ( which is truly beautiful) but I ignored that Legrand was the composer. No words, just listening in to the indescribable beauty of this music. Mr. Legrand, you are deeply missed.

Did he ever do a live version of the Theme from "Its Good To Be Alive" TV movie?
Was he French or Canadian? I was a small child in the 70's, but like many of his songs. How old was he when he died?
Never heard that version before. Way too much piano!
