    Great review Ryan, it was thorough and unbiased as possible. This weekend I saw a Scottish guy on IG show his Luosjiet boots. They did not handle a rainstorm very well.

      I was surprised his boots leaked a bit of water and that the edge stain leached onto the uppers after a brief walk in the rain. I know you have a lot of miles on your LJ boots without problems, so his experience was unexpected. It warned me to wear my LJ boots a bit carefully, I guess. I like my "Indys" and "Paratroop" models, but I have not worn them in the rain.

    Is the Luosjiet a real goodyear welt? I get that it LOOKS like one, but as we saw when Rose Anvil chopped a Wested Indy boot knock-off into two pieces, the 'goodyear welt' was fake. So just curious if you can see the welt is real, or you're just assuming it's a proper goodyear welt simply because it looks like one?

    • @YouShoe-1985

      @@theDWshow its a real Goodyear welt and it’s a real leather welt. They have some build photos on their instagram and from examining the boot it’s all real.

    Nice to see some love for the Bushacre 3. Don't think they're inferior to the classic Desert Boot. I have my classic pair purchased in 1990 and a more recent in navy leather and prefer my two pairs of Bushacre 3 over them. They offer far more arch support and can be had for less than $70 off Amazon. I actually scored my second pair used from Amazon used for $20. They were in new condition with tags and box. However, my favorite Desert is the Desert Coal. I'll get rid of all others before I will let go of my $65 tan leather Clarks Desert Coal.

    Clarks are great when Amazon marks them down. I got a pair for $25. And they are functional. You don't cry when you step in poop.

    FYI, I believe those Clarks are Bushacre 2. The 2s have the Clarks logo on the sole inside a circle. 3s do not have this outline around the logo. At least this has been my observation.

    I enjoy buying from different makers and trying them out. But I continue to buy from Grant Stone as it is a sure thing. I have maybe a dozen GS boots and each pair is great. That version in the video, the Badalassi veg tan (I don't yet have that particular one) looks beautiful -- everyone seems to say that. Good video!

      @tony_r_pierce Yes, that Diesel Saddle Tan on leather sole is the best boot in Grant Stone's lineup, in my opinion. If there's one boot to represent Grant Stone, like the Indy 403 for Alden or Iron Ranger Amber Harness for Red Wing, it's that boot.

      Truman in my opinion but Parkhurst makes a great quality boot too.

    • @ryanpiyo98
      @ryanpiyo98 3 месяца назад +1

      Parkhurst's lasts are very sophisticated. It's particularly suited for people with narrower heels. You still get the width at the ball, but heel and waist are snug and secured with more arch support than the likes of Grant Stone's lasts.

    • @YouShoe-1985
      @YouShoe-1985  3 месяца назад

      Have tried Truman but never Parkhurst. I will explore them soon but every time I’ve gone to buy them they didn’t have my size in the boots I wanted.

    • @ryanpiyo98
      @ryanpiyo98 3 месяца назад +1

      @ryanbarsuglia9870 that's true. I believe they only stock till 12 or 12.5. So I'm unsure if they have 13. And sizes above 11 may vary differently from brand to brand. So some experimenting will be in order. At least you have free exchanges in the US I think. I'm from Singapore so no chance, I gotta get the size right😅

    • @sschoon86
      @sschoon86 3 месяца назад +1

      FWIW, I have a pair of GS Diesels sz 12 E and a pair of Parkhurst Allen sz 12.5 on their 602 last (only one width available I think right now), which are very similar styled. I love the 602 last, it really hugs my heel while allowing my toes the room they need. Even though it is a "standard" width, it feels a touch roomier through the ball and the toes. The Allen I have is a B grade, and their B grades are definitely rougher than GS's B grades (which usually still seem virtually flawless), but I also bought a pair of Parkhurst Bidwell 2.0 A grades and the finishing on those are very high. All in all, Parkhurst and GS seem quite comparable in my book, with GS having a much bigger stock and more leather options, but Parkhurst has some pretty neat leathers at times and are made in Spain if GS's made in China is a problem for you. I also heard that Andrew at Parkhurst is a literal one-man-show and he personally does final sanding/polishing and looks over each pair before they go out to you, so you should know exactly what to expect each time as it's the same guy handling those critical steps every time.

    Awesome video, but I'd disagree on one major point - the biggest competition to Grant Stone is not Viberg, but Parkhurst. I would say Parkhurst produces better designed boots that are just as nicely made at essentially the same price. In fact, I prefer the look of Parkhurst's stitchdown boots to Vibergs, so I'd love to see you cover them.

      @@YouShoe-1985 Hmm I think recently the Stitchdown models have been getting a lot of love on social media, but not that many proper reviews, so a review for those would be awesome. Unfortunately Andrew says he has no plans for a Delware on the stitchdown for now. Trust me, if your feet like the boot, you will not be in any way disappointed. Great content btw, keep it up.

      @@YouShoe-1985 I think checking out Parkhurst's stitchdown offerings would be super cool! They're newer and getting a bit more hype right now - they are also an unbelievable value. They have a beautiful but comfortable last. If your foot likes them, you will not at all be disappointed.
