My freshmen year in high school my choir director actually had all of her classes do this, and for someone who hated having personal interactions like that it made me feel awkward cause i had no one in that the class i actually knew. So she had us stare in each others eyes and the person who I stared at (she is now my best friend) never did the same thing. I cried because it was so personal and I was secluded from others. My teacher said "that's what's wrong with this generation and others, we forget that a person has emotions and things they want to hide." I will never ever forget those words cause we wrote that down. She then had us learn how to waltz because no one knew how to do that. It's funny thinking about it, day to day things like dancing and eye contact were so awkward because you were physically close to someone and it gets awkward. As a senior now I look everyone in the eyes when I talk to them and I notice just what she was talking about. But there was one thing I don't believe, which is our emotions are hidden within the eyes. I believe the reason why people see things form others when doing that is because it's foreign in a way. Anyways, there is a little story.

We have this as an exercise at my acting classes. We are set up with someone randomly and start like 15 or 20 feet apart from each other,then the professor tells us to step closer and closer,until you end up being like 3 feet apart. Then we start going backwards again so we end up where we started. We don't how much time we spend like this but it brings you two closer even though you may not talk to each other much,and it is a great feeling.
