A great pity the owners manual does not indicate this. At p541 it illustrates that this bulb is replaced merely by inserting a flat ended screwdriver under the light fitting and twisting it to free the fitting. In doing so the brittle plastic fitting shatters, pathetic on the part of Toyota! So much for read the manual first. Thank you for illustrating what is actually involved.

Oh, thanks for this video, i almost broke my license plate light, i have EU check up on monday and my light is busted, i thought i have to go to mechanic to do this, my husband doesn't know how to do it either so this is a big help, thank you so much for sharing

You can take off the lens without removing the complete bulb holder from the tailgate. Be very careful though as the lens is very brittle.
