- 1951 Sarolea 600cc single cylinder, made in Belgium. Original restoration. Sarolea manufactured this bike with many Brittish parts, for example lucas generator, magnito, AMAL horizontal carburetor, head light , smith amp meter, etc.. This bike has a compression release so the driver can position the piston for starting other wise people would go flying in the air if it didn't, it's a real thumper( a German friend calls it a steam hammer), the release is also used for killing the motor.
When I was 17 (1966) I had a sarolea 600cc, a splendor of motorcycle!
What do you get parts of a motorcycle
Seems like the History channel has really helped shed some light on these old bikes. I saw one in a private collection when I went to Germany back in 1995.
That's how a single should sound, like a 25-pounder gun! Beautiful restoration. Happy riding, and keep the videos coming please!
I saw this video, and Learn About Sarolea Motorcycles Thanls to the History Channel..
Never heard of the brand before. Thank you for the video. Incidentally, thumpers just don't have to be that hard to start; it seems we've forgotten how to kickstart anything.
Your kick starting reminds my past with Enfield 350.
reminds me of a single cylinder evo sportster engine with a triumph bottom end lol very beautiful bike
We used to run them things no muffler and as fast as they would go. Hill climbing was good on a big single.
would have been nice if you talked about the bike more, told us some history and such
Is it a 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine?
What is that the small thing that goes up and down on gearbox?
It could be a Neutral Finder. Some Enfields had this.
Its on the Crankcase, and it looks like a mechanical Oil Pressure Indicator. Not such a bad idea at all.
@pressrolls Hay how goes it? You call this a thing, what choped liver, thing what do you mean?
I can't see how you can compare a suzuki dr 800 to this Sarolea, you are talking apples and oranges. This Sarolea is a object of art your suzuki is only something that moves on two wheels, you cant even see the motor it is covered by fairings, no art there!
are most motorcyles single cylinders nowadays or are single cylinders kind of crap?
no and no
what's the fun in a bike being a piece of art there machines designed to be rode hard and commute in all weathers that's a motorcycle this may as well be a sculpture and if you want art visit a Ducati dealership or find a Honda nr750
