I made my own foam adapters which lets you fit any ear pad you want over a Grato. No cutting up ear pads needed. Pretty much defeated all my friends opinions on Grados being uncomfortable to wear. It is just a dollar store arts and crafts mod. *Get some EVA foam sheets, 6mm or 1/4 inch thick works best. Get any ear pads you want, all sizes wider than 50mm or 2 inches will work (pretty much all aftermarket pads). *Put the ear pad on the EVA sheet and trace out the shape of it on the foam. *Cut the shape to size if its an adhesive back type or slightly undersized to allow the ear pad to lip over the foam. Trim the edges of the shape as needed. *Mark the center of the foam cutout and draw a 50mm diameter circle around it with a compass. Cut out the hole you just drew, hobby knife works best. *Insert your foam inserts into the back of the ear pads or stick it to the adhesive back of an adhesive one. *Press the 50mm hole in the foam over the cups of the headphone to install each ear pad. Your done! *Try different pads until you tweak the sound to just the way you like it. Or have different pads ready for different listening scenarios.
Tried this with the spares I already have, a knockoff L cush and an old m50x foam. Sounds great, big improvenent on the bass and noticeably wider soundstage. Although, I'm still hesitant about gluing them together.
Brilliant man! Just got in a pair of RS1X and my ears immediately started gushing blood *sarcasm* . Question though...do either of these mods affect the bass response? As of right now they are pretty tame when it comes to bass and I definitely don't want to lose any.
Have always heard good things about Grado's but have never bought any because I hate on-ear headphones. If I can find some good used ones I might give this a go. Cheers man
Thank you this video Dude. I've recently bought the SR225X and they are really uncomfortable after about 15 minutes, I love the sound though. I've now subscribed.
It’s a 40mm driver, and disassembling a set of Grados is pretty hard without a heat gun. You gotta melt the glue that holds the two plastic housing pieces together. Not sure about the superlux’s tho.
I found you thru the Philips SPH9500s. I love your vids thank you for being here for us.

I am unclear as to how to attach this to the Grado headphones, could you clarify how, , glue, adhesive tape, Friction fit, etc??

So I was able to just friction fit some Samson sr850 earpads over some fake g cushions I got for my kph40.

The GS1000 pads add a slight boost, but nothing serious. None of the other mods affect bass response.

*Same here, I can't bear on-ears!*

I'll have to give this a try at some point.
Thank you!
45mm driver ? Where is difficulty to disassembly it and assembly it in a very large choice headphones (like superlux 330 is a 45mm frame driver unit)

you KNEW you had to click on this with a thumbnail showing off something this ridiculous
Do the vever 1000 pads fit the sr80x grades?
Amazon says it does not fit,
Cheers David
I’m pretty sure they’ll fit.
They fit my sr60x
The grado gw use slightly different pads
Or use Zmf conversion ring and zmf perf pads
I really enjoy ur vids
Sorry new to the party. Why cut out the middle?
Increases the depth the pad. It’s not necessary, but I did it anyway.
You had to cut out the center of both pads, correct?
Yep
Is it hard to make an ear-clip mod for the Grado SR60x?
If you have access to a 3D printer, you can do anything.
thx for the video🍺i have bought one pair dt770 pads and also a pair s pads to fit my gs3000e. I hope it works😆. They only cost me about💲4 btw hahaha
How did I get here?
Man, I dunno.
Ask your parents.
Yo bro, which one to pick? SR80X or SR60x? is there a huge difference? i mean, i can overpay, but should i? hehe
Not a huge difference between the two. Pick which ever one you want.
Get sr325x, best quality of sound to price ratio (almost as good as hemp)....
