It would be cool if the gold Butch found somehow ended up melted into jewellery that his wife can have with her but it may not have been enough in terms of the amount of gold. It was very nice of you to do this in memory of butch and of course you (and all of us) got some fun out of the process/video.
Just the very fact you helped Phyllis out and butch. Is just another facet of the man you are. There's no gold more valuable than the gold in our hearts. Great job. Thanks.
Wow that's awesome of you to do Butch's paydirt and my condolences to his wife and family. 🙏 R.I.P BUTCH YOU'LL BE NOT FORGOTTEN..AS LONG AS WE ARE ALIVE YOUR MEMORY WILL LIVE ON.....
Enjoyed the video Shane, you know your 💩 man, and it was a great thing to do for a fallen Brother Brother prospector and his widow ! Thanks for what you do man ! PEACE 🙂🌞✝️
This was a very very excellent video of kindness and generosity, what a great learning experience and a cool thing to experience to get to witness 😀 Thanks for sharing
Really cool video.... like the different ways of separating gold from material......It will cost me because now I want a sluice box, magnet separator, and and more pay dirt......
This video was epic I loved this one as I love all your vids was chuffed this one was Friday lol but yeah this was awesome to see different ways and had a tidy lil bit put back.
Shane, forgive a boneheaded question: Why not fabri-cobble a simple mercury retort? (They are only like 180 bucks ready made, if you want) Just seemed like a bad idea free venting boiling mercury nitrate fumes. With a retort you didn't have to worry as much about the fumes, and the mercury could then be sold/disposed of. Anyways, I highly enjoyed the video, and good on you for doing this for Butch and his widow.
I spent many summers in Oregon digging black gold and gold panning. It was especially fun to go to the old dried up river beds remove some of the old rocks and dig through the black sand. We never left empty-handed. I wish I could go back and do it all over again. I love these videos.
Thanks, You did Phyllis a real solid. That's why I subbed a long time ago. You are honest and it's not how much gold but how to find it that makes your videos so great to watch. This was just on another level. Butch is smiling at you Bro.👍
As always another great video 👍👍 .. that was really cool of you to do that for her ... Well as always until next time I'll be looking forward to your next videos (both channels) .. Don E. in Denver
Love your channel mate and I will be buying your paydirt soon....feeling the pinch right now in the UK. Crack on and I will buy as soon as I can 👍🏻 Lee, Liverpool.
That is awesome you did that for that lady and in memory of her husband. Also thanks for the cool video! Gold panning looks like so much fun but I live in Florida and I also had an above knee amputation so it's not like I could go do it but I think it would be awesome. I know to some people the gold you recovered from Butch's pay dirt may not seem like much but to his precious wife that will always be a cherished memory. Once again thanks for what you do!!
Thanks for the comment and if you're interested in panning for gold, take 10% off your order use code CHUNK for any standard paydirt bag on KleshGold.com
Love your vids. Cool on helping someone out honestly. I have the most respect for you. I have ham amateur radio license and often a spouse will die and my radio friend and his buddies will go and take a 40’ or 60’ tower down along with antennas and such at no cost, sell it off and give the proceeds back. Not easy. But the right thing to do.
Just a suggestion for cleaning the mercury sample. Get a large needle from a plastic/fiberglass store, with or without the needle remove the plunger push a wad of cotton ball into the bottom of the needle barrel. Add the mercury, replace the plunger, add distilled water to a beaker, submerge the needle point and push it in. The mercury will flow out, will not splatter and when submerged will trap mercury vapours. It is a bit safer for you that way. Great video, good of you to help the lady, sorry Butch is no longer prospecting here. Cheers
I’ve been following for years and I really have a great appreciation for how much you enjoy what you do. I’m so glad your life fulfills you. We can see through your videos that you are a kind hearted person yet strong enough to maintain and persist and work hard. Thank you so much for showing us all of the interesting ways we can be involved in prospecting and treasure hunting
Thanks for that, yes it's a lot of work but I don't consider it "work" since I really do enjoy doing it. My life motto is something like "if you enjoy your work, it's not really work, therefore you win at life once this is achieved"
I'm an old ac guy of 40 years and the old t stats were mercury bulb stats. The Mercury is very magnetic and conductive. I wonder if your machine would separate the amalgam from the mercury. It all bonds together in a ball on a magnet. My old boss used to save the mercury from the old stats and spilled one, He took a magnet and it picked it all up and it made one ball, very cool video. As always I'm one of the 98 percent still watching!
Shane, I have been a follower for a long time. Mercury begins to vaporize at room temperature. So When working with mercury you always do it under water otherwise you run the danger of inhaling toxic fumes. When you were using the Miller table you had the water running way to fast(its not a sluce). Run it low and slow. If you see one piece of gold moving, it's to fast. A miller table is for cleaning concentrates to 99-100%.
@@Klesh Perfect. I am more worried about your health. The Mercury is very dangerous (from what they say). I played with it as a kid. No wonder I'm all messed up🤣. All the steps you did were good but if you do it under water it adds a level of protection. The mercury can't become airborne under water. Just looking out brother.
Very good feel good moment for you I bet 😊 nice of you to do that for her in memory of her husband…you had the mercury already wouldn’t it have been easier to process the remainder of the concentrates using Mercury?
Love this! Doing good work, Shane. Sweet to see the legacy of Butch’s work. After watching you for a good while now I finally got some Krums which I’ll be sharing with my dad (who got me interested in gold panning) when I visit for Christmas!
We used a wet sheep chamois like your paper towel but non tear tough. The new neodymium magnets change the whole game. The magnetic sand can be caught before it plugs the riffles and in much larger quantities. Grinding the black sand under water with lab grade gloves in an amalgamated copper pan will get the maximum values out of iron stained gold. A retort is always a big plus and in some areas additional mercury may be recovered. I would hesitate to use any acid outside a laboratory environment because the fumes can be deadly, excepting 5% vinegar, under cool temps to keep the mercury free of oils. You can get very good at this and there is a lot of gold to be had in some old mine dumps. Gold fever is very real, better watch it!
I used to do this with stainless steel sintered filters, and I would say that if your apparatus is giving off brown nitrous oxides, you've got the hotplate a little bit too high. Doing that doesn't do anything except create gas pollution, so turn it down a tad. When you're getting rid of acid, add the acid to the water and use plenty of water. Oh, and two pairs of gloves, one on top of the other. Doing this always scared me worse than pipetting phosphoric acid.
Do you already have a video or could you do a video on how you decide where to pan for gold. I live in Iowa so I know there’s not much here but flower gold in the rivers. it would be nice if I could learn on how to narrow down a decent spot. Much appreciated if you have time!! 😁
Wow that was a lot of work for free but we got big hearts ❤ your awesome brother i know she will be happier now how much her husband got and a good memories of what he loved doing. Thats for showing love brother 😊now i got some little gold i got to deal with i leaned alot for you in this video i had gone so far with what i have now i can finish it 😊
Shane, I somehow missed this video even though I was cooling my jets in my recliner while recovering from my ongoing “parts fixing and replacement project (this time left hip replacement and heart surgery). This was a 5 Star video! It was extremely informative, interesting, not too long, and done gratis to help out the widow of one of ore (pun intended) gold panning brethren. It’s no wonder that you have bragging rights for having one of the most popular webcasting sites. PS: Don’t think I’ve ever seen your hair chopped off so short as on this video. Are you thinking of re-enlisting. 😅
This was awesomely and kindly done. Question though...comparingvthe flow on ypuriller table and that of Chris from VoGus, your flow looked a bit more robust. With such ultrafine gold, will it really stay put? Ive never worked with stuff that fine, so was wondering. 😁
I was a gold diver in Northern CA for ten years, learning to get the flour gold out of black sand (often 1/3 of the values) was the difference between hot dogs or steak.
I wouldn’t just assume that the magnetic material is devoid of gold. I’ve read papers that successfully extract locked up gold from “Barron black sand” already extracted with mercury. It may not be worth the trouble considering that this material came from Alaska. But, it’s well known that black sands from tropical regions contain significant gold values. You're very welcome and the gold is already in the mail back to you 👍
I am so sorry for your loss, but so thankful we got to see some of his fun stuff be cleaned for you. May your heart be at peace, and thank you.

You can also use the hex end of a wrench to synch the shop towel. Just feed the towel through and do the same as you did with your hand.
