I have been a gold miner for 30 years. We used to put the mercury in a pan like you did with the concentrates, then squeeze it through a cloth and came out with an amalgamate nugget of gold and mercury including all of the fines. Then burn it off , then just touch it and it would break up into all of the original gold.

For being a professional you are missing two filters that snap onto that 3M respirator. That pre filter stops the particulate's that save your filter from clogging up.
Dropped a thermometer when I was a kid. Collected the merc. with paper and put it on a penny. Eventually it seemed to soak in, just leaving a spot on the surface. Was ok though. It was the early 80's. Much safer back then....... :) Thanks Pauly! Hope your tank is full so you can continue your adventures!
9:40 You had plenty of mercury to collect all the gold. What you failed to do was tumble it together. You have to constantly mix the gold, dirt, and mercury. That allows all the gold to be captured by the mercury. Tumbling is best, because you can set the tumbler and let it run for an hour. But I suppose mixing with a kitchen mixer would do. Even a magnetic stir pellet in a beaker. The important thing is constant agitation.
That was fun!!! Second comment several months later, I went to a class and the teacher said that the retort should be totally cool before removing, you can just leave it or after 20 -30 minutes if not cool then drip water over the top. But to leave it to cool until you can remove it by hand, with only a plastic glove. Otherwise you can release the mercury vapor
Make a pouch in the center of a chamois, place amalgam into the pouch, then Squeeze the Amalgam mercury thru a chamois, the pouch contains the amalgam, then empty the pouch into the retort and there you have it, cooked off mercury and clean Gold. Saw that on AskJeffWilliams and Two Toes Gary.

The old timers around here ran that amalgam from stamp mills over copper plates to collect it (small bits) from the water and slimes. Seems the mercury likes copper also. Then they would clean the plates with wooden scrapers and retort the amalgam. When there was damage or age, the wooden scrapers were burnt and the remains retorted with the rest and values recovered.

Try putting it all into a tumbler at low speed for a day. The Gold/Mercury amalgams should attach to each other and form a ball that you can just pick out of the black sand. The other trick is to do it like you did but work it in a pan full of water with your fingers and try to work the little pieces all together into a ball.
FYI, I’ve never read in any primary or secondary historical sources of miners intentionally dumping mercury in rivers as a method to extract gold. Most mercury we find today (in gravels or on bedrock) was associated with past placer operations where it was placed in sluice boxes to capture fine gold. There was a loss factor and some was washed or agitated out inadvertently through the back of the sluices.

I really hope you have a awesome blessed day.
Cya! 😺🐟out!
The Mercury down the legos was cool. Entertaining and educational well done bummer your retort wasn’t big enough. So how long did it take to cook it off the gold? 20 min? Thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏻👊🏻
It took maybe 1 minute to fully burn but all together including filming the shots etc yeah maybe 20 mins!
@@PioneerPauly you should go check out the video on this that two toes did to recover gold from mercury
Pauly bought a hoodie and never received a confirmation or tracking
Great video mate. Very interesting stuff
Wrong. Mercury had a specific gravity of about 13 gold has a specific gravity of 19.32. Mercury is not heavier than gold.
Hi Pauly! 😁Can you please do a video on all the gold you have collected over the years please?😊
Those retorts are very special.
The old timers used to use a copper sheet with the mercury and gold amalgam..that might help
The Lego sluice is cool. Great video. You need practice on your panning tho.
Does it means when we put anything in water contaminated with mercury they were will floating???
PAULY fantastic work showing us the method of recovering gold from Mercury. PAULY you need to do some more SNIPING VIDEOS hehehe I still need my fix lmfao 👍😎🇨🇦👍😎🇨🇦👍😎🇨🇦
where to buy these devices. please just tell me. I love to explore rocks and gold in nature. thanks.
Coolest Mercury video I've ever watched. Great job PP
Have you seen Cody'sLab? He has some old mercury videos with huge amounts of it, like flushing it in an (isolated, not connected to plumbing) toilet. Also iirc he made a video of getting mercury out of cinnabar ore, and also how to purify mercury. He even froze it to make a bullet one time!
@@revenevan11 I haven't saw that, but frozen mercury bullet sounds cool...and scary! Thanks
Thank you!!
@@revenevan11 Oh yes Cody is the king at mercury..and a bunch of other stuff haha
@@PioneerPauly at least your cool enough to give him credit he is an awesome dude love your videos to keep up the good work look forward to more I'm newer to watching your channel came here after seeing you on klesh and with Dan Hurd so started watching got to say haven't been disappointed have a good one
Excellent video Pauly, i also had success in seperating Mercury from gold.
When i retrieved the mercury from the pan after using the tube retort,
the mercury doesn.t seem to want to join back together in the vial which i found strange.
