Big B. I just got into boating from tons of land rigs. Bought a Sonic Wake V2. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge. I’m 2 mos in. Learned everything from this channel. Cupping props. CG. Trimming. Stinger installed! Thanks Big B. This is the best and really only RC boat channel.
You started with a great boat in my opinion
Glad I can help, SonicWake is a fun one to tinker on! Keep those rooster tails flying
@@jimstone5339 I’ve really had a blast. Upgraded the ESC. Servo took a dump but I’ve been running this baby 3-4 days a week since late April. Upgraded servo coming! 2 mos and I have been having the best time. 64 PB on stock motor with a smaller prop. Can’t wait to get back on the water!
A brand new single sided razor blade will cut that foam tape nice and clean , the corners will be tricky to do cleanly though. Thanks again for making these videos, I'm looking forward to see this boat finished. Twin engine boats just sound awsome, gas ,nitro or electric all have that distinct sound!
I knew I put that boat in the right hands !!!
Nice work on the boat hatch system 👍👍👍
You’re probably right about the motor size, one of those rocket motors pushed my BJ24 close to 60 mph.
Looking good Big B BGFL
The 2968 is one of if not my favorite smaller motor choice, I really thought about replacing the motors you sent, i am gonna leave room to run those 2968's once we modify the ride pads for out the hole take off!
As far as cutting the foam insulation goes: cut to size before installing on the hatch step. Use a metal ruler to guide the blade. A new #11 hobby blade is all you need to make the cut. The ruler will insure an even cut along the length of the foam. Cut the foam side of the insulation - not the side with the backing tape. Easy peasy. Looks like the hatch step disappears at the front of the hull. Install a piece of foam insulation on the front of the canopy and you DUN. Cheers!
Big B! You do good work brother. Very clean install
Good stuff Big B! Happy rcing my friend
I always use a new razor blade for that but the tap never sticks for long unfortunately. I put some hatchlocks on my pursuit. It wasn't easy. It has a more rounded canopy and they have to sit in at an angle. So I made some angle brackets out of carbon fiber to hold the angle on the receiving end . It works but was not fun.
Big b you have changed my life with the rc boat stuff I got the out rigger kit to build an every thing so pumped up but the propeller was missing so how do I find the right one that will be good an that fits my shaft it's the only thing I have left to figure out
Nice work mate looking great I sit my tape no my hull and mark it with a sharpie then cut with sharp scissors
Thanks, I appreciate it
Nice build Big B!. You can always wax the area you don't want the epoxy to stick .
Yes, great tip. I wax all my boat builds before I start, and during the install process in-between alcohol baths.
.... My favorite boat Is an English mono hull I think it's from the 1970s and it has a lifting surface like a flying wing........ My goal is to weld Individual lifepo4 or li ion cells .... to duplicate vintage builds.....
I always use reverse nice stuff B
Amazon sells 1/4" wide 3 pack like 75' cheap,or use silicone and make a seal.
Thanks! I'll check it out
Try a brand-new double edge razor blade.
Great job you do unbelievable good work. I have been doing a lot of carbon fiber work. Tried different kinds of epoxy resin and when I put the final clearcoat on it looks great until it hits the water then it fills out, have any idea what that might be. Thanks
All I do to finish carbonfiber epoxy is compound, then wax and buff the carbonfiber/epoxy. Like my Ul-19 front canard, wet sanded compound then waxed
"screw it, God hates a coward" 😆 my guy👊 I'm going 6S on my little boat today.. might end in pieces💥 but it should be fun!
Good luck brother 🙏 💪
New exacto knife blades❤
Thanks for the super thanks, I'll definitely pick up some new blades
I have been sharpening my current blades for months now 😆
@@IRONCLADRCI’ve sharpened many a #11 in my RC plane days. That dang paper covering was a mess to cut cleanly and the monocote was even worse. Just get some new ones. Hopefully today’s #11’s are as sharp as they used to be. Also good for some quick surgeries like removing stuff superglued to your fingers 😂🤦🏻♂️
i wish my popeye had room for hatches. Maybe i could sneak some in the rear if i add more glass.
I have the same issue with a vintage Motley Crew. The corners don’t have the nice web. I’m thinking about building it up with carbon fiber mostly because I have some left over. 😉
Fyi Epoxy puddy is the bees knees.
