  • The dreamy, psychedelic-folk rocker explains how a salvaged-spruce offset colored with gobs of vibe, chorus, and trem give her freewheeling, Dead-inspired journeys constant movement and flow.
We had a pre-soundcheck hang with singer/songwriter/guitarist Liz Cooper and her stalwart, low-end wrecking ball Grant Prettyman during their recent hometown gig at Nashville’s Basement East. Both Cooper and Prettyman travel with one guitar, one amp, and a few pedals, but explain that within those comfy confines, they illustrate with a full complement of colors.

Big ups to Chris Kies doing his homework and asking some real questions with depth- not just about gear, but how the gear compliments the creative approach. I see you, Chris.

Best part of the Rig Rundown is when Grant tells the story of Liz’s Dad buying the bass as a surprise gift for him, what a great Dad. Love is the greatest gift of all, it stirs the soul to create the music that moves us all. Love ya’ll’s music, great Rig Rundown !!! 👍👏🎸🙏✌️😎

I think Chris took his interview game up a couple notches on this one. Really enjoy the gear talk as always, but going further into the musical process was really interesting.

Jim Burns made guitars in the UK for an age starting in the late 50s , the Baldwin era was pretty much the end of the road , the Shadows had white solids with the scroll type head , the early English solids in green to black and maroon to black are very collectable , the Bisons with their huge horns even more so , after the Baldwin fiasco he had another go with the ' Flyte ' guitars , Marc Bolan used one in a film clip , but they were pretty horrible ... the tone selector switch was a delight ... especially the ' Wild Dog ' setting , a kind of out of phase thing , the ' Contra Bass ' setting on the early basses was awesome ...

Thanks Premier Guitar, you really make me buy pedals I was never thinking of before. Please apologise to my wallet immediately!
And I never thought that it could be so hard to find the BBE Soul Vibe in Germany...
However, Liz Cooper and the Stampede are epic! I dig their sound so much! Please come to Germany soon!

@27:50 there is a medium scale! squier used to make some p-basses that were 32 inch scale length, and they feel great for someone like me who is used to playing guitar.

And Stu Hamm's signature Fender bass, the Urge, was 32" medium scale.

Creston makes excellent guitars. My number one is a Creston offset with Lollar P90s and a cutdown topload Tele bridge.

She is soooo right. When I have taught folks to play guitar I start by handing them drum sticks. Folks have a harder time with their right hand more than their left. Try it out

Awesome to see a rundown featuring a Creston guitar. I just hope this doesn't delay his timelines with back orders too heavily because I've been dying to put in a deposit on a build.
