With Nel’s bases, Camilla is actually pretty decent on her. She has the magic stat to make decent use of the Bolt Axe, and Camilla’s Axe is a pretty decent weapon too that she can use with her Str. She also gets full access to the DV options (including the miasma which is pretty strong) and the bonus she provides to speed helps make Nel hit doubling thresholds. The increased AoE of the engage attack is also pretty decent
@@pketr5ll child can't use tome's and if she changes class then she loses the dragon classification. Veyle is the only dragon with access to tome's and with her massive magic stat she actually makes good use of it. Edit: I forgot engaging comes with a tome but I still think Veyle is still the better option as she is a pure magic user. Edit 2: actually since you get Veyle late game I suppose that Nel could be a decent option with Soren in the early game depending on how high her magic is.
camilla is better on rafal, full access to all dragon veins, fix his spd, one shoots mages with camilla axe and with a silver great axe he can one shot a lot of enemys with dark inferno
Worth noting that the armor pen from Lunar Brace fully stacks with the armor pen from dragon stones (you still get the full bonus from Lunar Brace even if the dragon stones half enemy def/res). I think Lunar Brace might be the best skill for both to inherit if you intend to keep them on their unique class and maybe speed taker as the 2nd skill to help guarantee doubles. Another idea is weapon sync+ and Tiki for +7 damage that works on both phases, but you only have 1 Tiki so yea. For emblem rings, Marth benefits Nel the most I think. it gives all the best stats for her (STR for extra damage & SPD to help reach doubling thresholds) and Divine Speed extra attack help her kill. Rafal probably wants Camilla since he has lower speed and Camilla gives 5 SPD at max bond which helps him double along with speed taker. There is also the dragon bonus for dark inferno/dark inferno with silver great axe that is pretty good. I've yet to try these myself on Maddening (will do it on my next run) but I think there is potential here with lunar brace + stones.
Oh gee, I never realised Protective triggered as long as Rafal got attacked anywhere on the map. Don't know why, but I assumed it was a 2-range thing like most other skills. Definitively makes it go from situationally alright to fairly good, considering Rafal has a very decent ennemy phase. Will probably throw a killer weapon onto her now.
I'm gonna do a general message here for people looking to optimize a dragonstone unit between them rafal is the better of the two but giving the unit tiki with weapon sync+ to boost dragonstone damage then give them a secondary skill weather it's something like str to boost damage or a speed boosting skill to get them to double, rafal is a reliable wrath user with the build since if he gets to low he can just wait to heal back up on tiki
Enjoy them both in their unique classes. Nel is similar to Halbedier to me and Rafal is like a Warrior. Nel has Camilla, Lunar Brace+ and Avoid+30 or Speedtaker, Well Spear and can't decide on stones. Rafal has Hector, Hold Out+++ and Unyielding++, Well Axe and can't decide on stones either. Fell Child and Dragon Child are utilities I enjoy...even though I have 3 Fell Child classes and it messes with my no duplicate class playstyle.
great viedeo, all ur units guides are amazing as a general idea what to do with the units, tho i cant believe i avoided spoilers on how the S support card looks, just to get hit by it in a guide viedeo
The magic dragon and Rafal duo is very fun to run. She really wants to stay engaged with Soren so putting her near rafal really pumps up the engage meter. Rafal being good with ike also allows for the use of cataclysm+ if it is needed. It’s a shame they don’t have a support together because they work so well with each other.
A little late, but I have 2 build I used for Nel. First is a Royal knight build with Byleth. The +10 Dex is universally good for the team, adds another staff user, and with lane power, she hits hard with her personal lance, flame lance OR SUPER hard with the 3 houses lance Byleth gives horse units. The other build I had was a maght knight build. I gave her the dark tome Veyle had once I unlocked her for fun shenanigans. Rafal I had 2 builds, first is a dragon stone only build, using tiki as the emblem. With Weapon Sync it is easily +7 damage on those attacks, which already have the luna effect so he 1 shots pretty much anything. BUT with his passive +10 crit, and eternal claw while transformed, he has insane crit rates. Not to mention fog breath is nice to set up fog and let your Yunaka Chrom build come in and 1 shot enemies with near 100% crit lol... Other was a Ike Wyvern Build sine he is one of the few A Axe Wyverns with good stats.
I wouldnt classify camilla as just magic users emblem. She is a mixed attackers unit as well. She can give offensive magic to a griffin knight (a class Nel can do well) or even a wyvern that has a decent enough magic. She meshes well with both Nel and Zelestia so your biggest issue will be deciding who deserves her more.
Small correction, the fell/ruinstone swap between eachother and the cav/flyiny/magic stone swap between eachother for refines on the stones. I also use Veronica on Nel for the spicier summons, and Veronica also lets the magic dragonstone be more useful (Nel has a usable cap of 30 mag instead of Rafal's meme-tier 12). I slapped on an extra +15hp and wrath to make her a beefy killing machine (veronica gives reprisal+). Could replace the hp with vantage++, but more HP for pvp for me since everyone has emblems there.
Was hoping to find a decent Dragon build for her. May try this out. Even if she is overall best in a generic class, I'd rather make use of her unique class.
@@MkOs_ OH LMAO. Well that's just stupid. So magic is useless on both of them. I mean the build is still useful, it just loses the extra damage you could've gotten from Mag.
@Ryodraco if you want a dragon build give her tiki and inherit weapon sync+ and any str buffing skill str 6 is the better for damage or boost her speed to double her dragonstones. Tiki's sync is special so weapon sync+ gives her stones +7 attack which is a good boost since they hit at half def/res and when you do engage all of tiki's attacks also get that +7 attack boost
i personally put hector on rafal and for some reason he is just unkillable and crits constantly (fell child class) tough that class does like him be put next to others i can just keep him somewhere on his own and he never dies
we are still missing the master class give aleear divine dragon monarch and give the fell children the fell dragon class pull the rest from three hopes
At the very least you can do it on easy if you want to just get the characters. You really need end game stuff if you're wanting to do the final map at all on maddening imo.
Im always gonna keep the unique classes cause like thats what theyre there for, if they dont use it then no one can. And also the dragon class gets perks on every emblem and theres only four units that can do that so dragon supremacy it is
Rafal & Hector are a top combo, on his personal class he gets the dragon bonuses theyre nice but not necessary. I just like his personal class' passive. Revanche(byleth), tomahawk(lyn), brave axe (hector), ruinstone, weightstone. Speedtaker, Axe Power 5. Can get effective damage on everything besides corrupted innately. Brave Axe has quad potential, and if it doesn't still 1 rounds many things. +13 damage on each attack (3 from heavy attack, build maxes at 13) is cracked.
forgot about the magic stone which uses str to deal pure mag damage, it's formed by refining either the slay stone or weight stone, i don't remember which.
Nel's personal skill is a little disappointing considering that rafal's personal changes after the xenologs Edit: apparently it's just a name change for Rafal, still wish nel got a better personal

Reprisal on Rafal could also be really good. Extreme damage when HP gets low (from Emblem Veronica). I'm working on getting Reprisal on him while dawning Emblem Leif for Vantage Damage shenanigans. Wrath would be good on this build, too...The grind would be real, tho.
@IcedCoffeeGaming Might actually be better than most team compositions tbh. Anti-flier weapons aren't really that much of a deterrent when you can swoop in with 6+ MOV or use Bonded Shield in the worst case scenario.
Extremly dependent on the enemy, I'd say. If you have a high DEF and low SPD unit, I think it does make a lot of sense to use them, but the faster the enemy gets and the lower the DEF bzw. In case of the Magic stone the RES goes the more ineffective they become where a stronger weapon would just be the better option.
I was thinking Tikis special guard passive on Rafal and some other tank passive like gentility to make him take little to no dmg with the special stones, and Nel a bruiser that can often crit thx to her passive, not sure how that would work tho
I wish the dragon stones could be upgraded or have passive skills that benefit them. By chapter 19 I realized Nel was hitting way harder with the lances. So why was I keeping her fell child? I switched to Wyvern rider and she is just way better
@@superape013 ah. I didn't think of that. Thanks. At least there is one skill that works. Issue is tiki is on another unit I cannot just change easily.

I loathe their shitty base stats from their class. It makes them far harder to use without ridiculous investment as you get further into the game. Forgot to note, its even more odd since Zel's Melusine class is basically an advanced class- if I'm not mistaken- despite the fell children being base.
