I get why some people label this as woke. The term gets tossed around a lot, but Naughty Dog is really into inclusion and empowering women. We first saw this in Uncharted 4 when Nadine, a black woman, takes down Nathan and Sam in a 2v1. Some might argue she had more experience, but Nathan has faced tougher and smarter opponents. It feels like Neil wanted to showcase his ideals by having her take on both Nathan, a seasoned treasure hunter, and his brother, who can hold his own too. If that doesn’t convince you, just look at Abby in The Last of Us or any of the other female characters. It’s clear Neil was pushing his agenda, even killing off Joel in a pretty rough way just to shift the focus to Abby, a character who wasn’t even in the original story. He even changed a character’s skin color to fit her in. Plus, Abby looks more masculine than a lot of the guys in the game. With Neil being the head honcho at Naughty Dog, his influence on the characters is huge. As for this new game, all we have is the trailer, and the main character gives off that "girlboss, I don’t need a man" vibe. We’ll see how it goes, but honestly, it’s not really on my radar since I’m more excited for Mafia, Elden Ring, and GTA 6.
I am gonna be honest the character looks bad yea but gotta wait till we get more gameplay and trailers but i have my hopes low considering the recent ghost of yotei controversy and Concord failure but i still think naughty dog can make good games
i disagree that is the most beautiful woman i have ever seen. and i KNOW that lesbians are gonna love her just as much if not more than they loved ellie.
@mustardsauce5201 I am not gonna hate your opinion if you like her that's good I don't like her that's not the end of the world and after all there hasn't been anything gameplay wise i know naughty dog can cook
@@mustardsauce5201 I envy the fact that you like her but you can't ignore the fact that the majority of players already don't. people might not like the story of tlou2 but its not an inherently bad story and from a gameplay standpoint its there best game. I personally loved tlou2 and not everyone HAS to love it, but its not enough to loose faith in the whole studio.

@@PortugueseBadman "but I can use previous controversies to predict future ones." You actually can't when there is not a big history of controversies regarding the entity in question. When it comes to controversies with games, ND barely has any other than TLOU2 controversy which divided the community into 2 groups. The controversy about studio management is a different issue and has more to do with studio management which they have rectified. ND has released excellent games so far. It's just that a lot of people dont like tlou2 and that's it. So no, in this case you can't actually predict.
@budgie9006 Mainly, it's TLOU 2 that is the reason why I'm not looking forward to this game. You're right. I can't really predict the future. But how TLOU 2 went down and its divisiveness and how Neil Druckman gave fans the finger is enough for me.
I’m not interested in the game, nor am I too fond of the anti-woke crowd using it as a scapegoat for their usual propaganda, but at least the comments for the trailer are funny.

False equivalence. The aspect of ppl caring abt how they look in an sp game is vastly different from online games. The target audiences are different. Bringing up fortnite does not prove anything here at all. This is an sp game telling a story about a specific character. If we went with the fornite logic, then there wont be any point in even having characters to play sp games. The mc is modeled after Tati Gabrielle. Tati shaved her hair off once for a few months and she looked exactly like the mc without makeup. They both look great. In the trailer, there is a shot showing pics of the mc with hair, and the mc looks beautiful.
@@Shane_111 I know that. but i am specifically trying to tackle the fortnite point you mentioned. The youtuber said it best. With a single player story driven game, depending on the genre, you are walking in the shoes of someone else. Comfort should not be the number 1 priority here. You will be surprised how many excellent games there are and how much you will be able to enjoy them if you just open up a bit more. MB not you specifically since idk your thought process. But you get the point.
@@budgie9006 fortnites obviously not the best example but the point I'm making is that people do care about what a character looks like. Spider-Man 2 is a single player game yet they somehow thought it was necessary to change Mary Jane's face to look less like the voice actor for no logical reason. Same thing with Star wars outlaws, they randomly decided to make the protagonist look completely different to the voice actor. The whole point of a trailer is to build hype around something, and if the first look you get is of a forgettable protagonist who's only defining characteristic that we see in the trailer is that she doesn't conform to "SOcIeTy" which is something the majority of players aren't really interested in (especially because of how lots of people see where naughty dog/Neil druckmans priorities lie in the characters they've created recently). I have a love hate relationship with the last of us 2, I will never experience the emotions I felt playing that game in any other media but I also hate that they made the game so divisive to the point that giving actual criticism for the flaws in the story means you're a "terrible person". I do try to play games that are from different perspectives than I'm used to it's just that so many games recently feel like they are made with an agenda to lecture people or as some fake attempt to seem virtuous. Id love some good game recommendations, the hate this game is receiving is very extreme and people should wait for more to come out before having such strong opinions. Same goes for the witcher 4, geralts story ended in the third game and it's literally the obvious next step for ciri to be the protagonist moving forward.
