My great grandfather was into machining and building complex tools (he even build gears with helical gearing). After the GI's took over Germany, he repaired Jeeps and constructed machines for them. Still I have so much stuff around, he worked with and what he created (even hand drawn construction plans!). Now seeing how beautiful it is to be able to use this and build your own tools and machinery - I want to get into it! Please show more!

The milling vise is beautifully made, it's clean and what I like the most is that when you squeeze a plate to make it square or make a hole, there is a gap and you don't need a parallel block to set up or level if it's level because it already has a guide. Salute to you sir, you are a legendary machinist ♥️💯

Proof that there are “young” old school craftsman still out there. How about you make a short biography video, showing your town, job and neighborhood, as well as where you learned such fine skills? Precision knows no geographical boundaries. Your videography is on par with your machining as well.

When you work with zero tolerance, there is absolutely no room for error. It was good practice though. :)

To be real, there are commercial vises out there with pull down jaws, and to the same standard of excellence. eg. Image-Google Gerardi. But this is made in a (admittedly well-equipped) home workshop, by a young enthusiast of excellence.
Saying "I could also do that, if I had these machines" is like saying "Now that I've got my diving licence, I could win races like Schumacher, if I had the Ferrari.."
And who cares how long it took him to complete it?
Not everything should be measured by a clock ticking off Dollars. If Michelangelo worked for Wall Street money grubbers, we'd never have had the priceless art that he's left us with.
