    Just a note: the only thing I would have done differently is using wire nuts instead of crimps on the electrical wires.

    Great job on the video. Short and thorough without time wasting fluff.
    In regards to your sealant comments, I wanted to mention that I did have an internal leak in our RV coming from a bad A/C roof seal. I still wouldn't muck things up with sealant, but wanted to let others know that if they have an older RV, it might be a good idea to inspect or swap that seal out if its over (10 years?) Ours is a 2011 Navion

    Extending the ladder out reduces the angle, thus reducing pulling weight. Just a thought.

    Smart cookie, using the ladder as a ramp, would suggest using a pulley on a shackle on the top rung and pull the rope from the ground, easier on the back and you get the mechanical advantage of the pulley, used that way to hoist rooftop condensers and skylights with heavy curbs onto rooftop especially alone. Good video

    So my RecPro was sitting on the garage floor for a month before I saw your video and gave it a go. We followed your rigging technique and my wife and I had it on the roof in a few minutes. The mailman and a neighbor driving by both offered to help but we were good to go at that point. Thanks for an inspiring video. Got me off the couch and on the roof and now we have AC!
    Note: I didn't get the low-profile unit because it was $500 more and just got the AC unit without the heat pump because we have a great heater (radiant heat in the camper) but looking back I'd probably have gotten the heat pump just to heat things up really quickly in cold weather.

    Good video but have a couple of comments. I replaced a loud Colman a/c with Houghton 3400 from RecPro and it is much quieter and has heat pump but I also replaced a Onan generator that was gas carburetor with the new inverter style Onan QG2800i generator that is fuel injected. BOTH Houghton and Onan/Cummins say that a soft start is not required but I had the generator in Cummins shops 8 times being rebuilt/repaired and finally replaced since it would quit within 20 hours of run time. I ordered and installed a soft start from RecPro for the a/c unit and both have been working fine for the last 50 hours run time.

    Props for pulling that up on your own! My wife and I tried doing it together, thank God the neighbor came and helped us. No clue how you pulled that up on your own lol... Im about 230lbs and my wife is about 120. We pulled the 15k version of the recpro up on top of our Avalanche 390ds... about 14' up in the air. I about died 🤣🤣🤣

    I've got the low profile version of this air conditioner on my camper and overall I've been very happy with it. It is so much quieter than the stock Coleman Mach 3 style air conditioner that my camper came with. You can actually carry on a conversation with it running.

      @@fallenintocamping The camper that I have actually has a curved nose and when the compressor was on with the original one It would reverberate the entire front which is exactly where the bed is. It was pretty unpleasant.

    Don't use a crimp on a solid core wire (romex) it can either be used on fine stranded (only) or 2-3 wire romex termination which has been twisted with a half inch tail. Use wagos, wire nuts, etc.
    Manufacturers learned that the hard way when rv's started burning down starting at the a/c

    you rock love the video. I have a 2020 Apex Nano the AC Unit I believe is 13500 btu it only drops the temp by 10 degrees when it's 80 and gets less as it gets hotter. would putting in a RecPro RV Air Conditioner 15K Non-Ducted cool it any better or am I wasting my money.

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  Год назад +1

      Oh no…this one pumps out the cold air (and heat too, if you get the one with the heat pump). Sounds like something might be wrong with your original unit too…especially with it being a 2020 😵‍💫

    can it replace a MaxiiFan? Is the square the same size?

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes they usually are. The maxiifan runs off of 12v not 120v like the AC, so you’d have to figure out how to get power over to it. I just installed one on a horse trailer, so if you’re thinking of using it as an AC replacement, I don’t recommend. You will be hot. It moves air but when the air outside is hot, it doesn’t really help 😂
