The detail and realism is remarkable, particularly the rock faces and water features. Getting foliage right is probably the hardest thing of all but is quite well done here.
Thank you for your comment. I can understand how you might feel, but I wouldn't look at it that way. The CMRM doesn't see itself as intimidating model railroaders who have home layouts. The museum's Mission statement is: "To provide a model railroading experience that educates, inspires and brings joy to all ages." Their Vision statement is: "To share and expand the model railroading experience as an avenue for human creativity." My personal opinion (and hope) is that watching these videos and visiting the CMRM should inspire model railroaders rather than discourage them. Oh, and by the way, we have a lot of fun making the videos!
@@billr991 they dont need to worry, I was sort of joking it mostly inspires, its just the time estimate for all those trees that is intimidating! I find everyones trees intimidating! But I found a fine branch detail shrub of some kind growing 4 blocks from my apartment today, so I am good to start cutting down those hours from my own project.
The sound level in each clip has been considerably decreased from the original recorded level. I realize that the levels are still a bit higher than some people would like, but left them there in the expectation that those viewers would simply turn down the playback level on their computer. I will consider a further reduction in future videos. Reactions? Opinions?
One question, I noticed that a majority, if not all of the sound decoders are Soundtraxx. Is this due to preference, or have you "outlawed" other decoder brands on your layout? I myself am I Loksound guy
First, an answer to a question not asked. It's not my layout. The layout was designed and built by Dave Trussell and large group of dedicated volunteers. I just shoot and edit the videos. The layout belongs to the Colorado Model Railroad Museum. www.cmrm.org/ As to the sound decoders: the CMRM has no official preference for a particular brand.
Someone's got to make a dummy engine with a single stretched oval speaker that can create the lower base notes of a diesel engine. These tiny speakers are terrible!

Outstanding doesn’t even begin to describe this
Simply Amazing. I miss my model railroad. Though a small H-O set up and was a table top set. I still loved it.
Stunning! Lifelike and beautiful. The scenery is amazing.
Amazing depth to the video. Those bridge scenes are almost 3D!
Thank you Philip.
Thanks for the up-to-the-minute upload. This is the best stuff on RUclips. Love the "scale speed." Nov. 27, 2018.
This is so cool, the attention to detail is amazing. Beautiful!!!
Inspiring me to get back to work on mine
At the 1:57 point, as the engines go by, you can't tell if they are HO, O or even actual size. They could be! Nice work on scaling.
Beautiful .
Very nice layout and consists .

Another magnificent video :-)
Great video! Keep up this excellent work!
this is amazing!
gotta love it
I love this layout, but man does it intimidate me as well. Makes my half done layout in N scale seem... like a half done layout in N scale :P
