I love how different and yet fundamentally the same their relationship is in both the show and in the books. Their happiness in the midst of all the chaos going on around them is so beautiful in every version. ❤

I’m respected how they aged up these characters and even added the adult backstory of a one night stand being their first meeting. They are nearly 30, the actors, and having a intimate relationship for that age group is far more appropriate and therefore enjoyable to watch. We can laugh at Wylan literally being like “nah I want sex not breakfast” because we aren’t watching TEENS.
Kit and Jack, Jack being openly gay, really touched something that I feel we need more of, ESPECIALLY Jack.
He is pretty. Let’s face it. Jack is a Tim Burton animation. He is the epitome of ethereal. Jack looks like an anime character, and he has sweet and cute moments, but he also is not a prude or void of desire. It removes the infantilization of gay men who do have more delicate features.
Love these thoughts so much. Agree 100%. He portrays a character who is so...himself and it comes across beautifully. I'm a new fan of his for sure 💕
I don't know why so many YA novels, with teens as protagonists, are filmed with 30-somethings playing the parts. Why are we OK with teen sexuality in print but not filmed. Nothing these guys do is in the least pornographic. Oh, wait, GUYS. I answered my own question. We can have boys and girls smooch endlessly, but when it's two guys, they'd better be candidates for Social Security.
@@Yowza78 because if its in the books it’s all a made up story only existing in our imagination but if it’s filmed with young actors then you have actual teens play the role and be sexualized not some made up characters. it really is so simple smh

As a book reader I'm happy they didn't go the slow burn route. I could not have handled waiting another season for them to just kiss, we got fed so much more.

Especially when there is a risk that there might not be another season with Netflix canceling shows left and right.

I loved the slow burn in the books, but I liked what they did with their relationship in the serie ! it's like watching their story with a different view, I think it's cool !

Their relationship is more adult because they’re older in the show, that’s why it feels “rushed”. And it’s still in character for them . People forget it’s implied Wylan hooked up with one of his tutors in the book, he’s not some innocent little virginal kid.
Wait what page did it imply that he hooked up with one of his tutors before? I honestly don’t remember it
@@sad_sapphic_ It wasn’t actually "implied". Inej and Jesper were just talking and wondering why he left his fathers house and among other things one of them was along the lines of "What, did he make out with a tutor or something?"
And they are not the main characters so they can't afford to develop things as much as if it was a SOC adaptation. I'm Reading the book just now. I love the slow burn but I still enjoy/understand the story here.
I think maybe dicrector will show and build this relationships more in season 3.
Season wil focus the crow.
And. I very happy when see them kiss, and hug. 😂😂😂 but, this relationships in season 2 make me feel lack of depth.

I just realized the first from Wylan was genuine shock and relief because he recognized Jesper. And right after he says "We've..." but then stopped because he didn't think it was worth bringing up old memories.

There is something about this show and the way it works with the characters and the details about them... something that just hits me every time. It's excellent, how the show is so different from the books but you feel it's just right and it fits so well! I spent too much time just getting stunned by the atmosphere it creates. I'm so happy with how the show turned out.

I was initially put off by changing how they met, but I really like their arc this season. It makes sense that the characters are aged up that things change with the romance. It’s a good story with good development, but it still leaves room to grow if it gets another season or it’s own show. Also, like others have said, I’m glad it’s not a slow burn and we get right to the sweet and caring moments.
Plus there is the terrible possibility Netflix will cancel it as they do with many great shows. They haven’t even put a green light for season 3 yet.
How'd they meet in the books? I haven't read them (yet) and am so curious now
@@lis7063 in the books, Wylan is working in tannery and Jesper is sent to pick him up for the heist and bring him to Kaz. Unfortunately we don’t see their first meeting in the books either but they will think back on their first impressions of each other

I'm not gonna lie, they are the first on screen gay couple I actually loved. The chemistry was absolutely perfect. Nothing seemed forced. The actors are REALLY skilled.

This video was randomly recommended to me a few months ago. I had never even heard of Netflix' Shadow & Bone, nor the books. But a thumbnail with a cute queer couple is an instant click.
Boy am I glad I clicked.
Since then, I've watched the show. I've read Six Of Crows and Crooked Kingdom. I've traveled to the UK to see Next To Normal, twice. And I met Jack Wolfe and now have a copy of Crooked Kingdom signed by him.
It's a much needed distraction during rough times. So.... thank you for making this. And thank you to the YT algorithm for knowing me scarily well (ya creep)...

Directly to Wylan in particular (but this is a big spoiler, so my mouth is sealed🤐), but also to Jesper, since he'll develop a little crush for him.
So overall it's gonna be an intriguing plot for sure (especially because in the #ShadowAndBone tv version they already are together, whereas in the books there's a long slow-burn before getting to that point: therefore also the Kuwei's subplot will hit differently I guess)! I'm really curious to discover who shall be cast as Kuwei, and clearly I'm keeping everything crossed for a #SixOfCrowsSpinoff with the focus on them next!🙏🐦⬛🩵😋 #SOCspinoff #grishaverse
@1666v Kuwei was taken from the Ice Court Heist in the book Crooked Kingdom, wylan was tailored to look like Kuwei and later on in the book Jesper accidentally kisses Kuwei thinking it was Wylan and Wylan sees this happen and tells jesper something kaz told him to say and walks away. Jesper then realizes he kissed Kuwei not Wylan and jesper is mad/ feels tricked because kuwei didn't tell jesper he wasn't wylan. jesper and wylan do talk things out and get together. (this is a rushed version not entirely accurate i do reccomend to read the book to understand who Kuwei is and what actually happened. )
