    Excellent idea because range is king especially in very cold areas where battery power diminishes. When comparing two EVs for purchase, range dominates over acceleration for most people.

    I would expect extra range in the US would help demand quite a bit. I’m sure someone out there has done the survey/math to figure out how much more interest there is for a vehicle per 10 miles of EV range, but I haven’t seen it.
    Also, aptera has a great vehicle but comparing it to a 5-7 seating vehicle isn’t really fair.

    I also had ordered that version years ago before they canceled it. I’m guessing they’re doing this to increase demand. Who wouldn’t want the most efficient, long range version at the best price, which is what the rear wheel drive single motor is. It is still my favorite version of the model three, which I would love to see them bring back as well. The silver color is probably my favorite also.

    I think this fits in nicely with you recent video regarding the drop in EV demand. Maybe once someone actually owns an EV they will realise that having that much range is more of a waste than an asset, but for that first electric car they buy, for many people, if it doesn't match their previous average gas car, they. will. not. budge. If Tesla wants to sell not millions but tens of millions of cars, they have no choice in the matter: for many if not most people to make the plunge, an affordable car (sub-50k imo) with 400 miles of real-world range MUST be on offer, like it or not, end of story.
    NowYouKnow said that I don't know how many years ago, and for a while I was doubting them, but the recent lower gas prices (yes americans they're way lower than they have any right to be, pretty please try to not be spoiled rotten for once) has basically killed the economics argument for now, meaning that those with gas cars are not willing to buck ANY sacrifices to switch over, however reasonable or unreasonable we all think that is.
    Personally I think that if tesla can make sure that both the truth and the popular narrative is that all their vehicles hit 400 miles in good conditions (meaning 300 to 350 in winter or rain or at 80% SOC) with a decent charging curve they will receive a MASSIVE boost in demand, way higher than such a small improvement from their current cars would seem to warrant, because if they did (and they can) there really will no longer be any psychological barriers to switching, which at this point is imo the last major barrier that they need to crack. And this news gives me pretty good hope that they are starting to move towards that.

    Amazing prices, overall if you wonder the price Elon shown on the unveiling event of the MY for the RWD Long Range (47,000 US dollars) and now we can get it in Europe for just 48,990 € (in Spain), it means that probably in the US u will afford it for probably 47,000 US dollars. So once more Elon was right and the rest ...well..... But this is not everything because in Spain for instance, MY RWD Long Range applies for 4,500 or 7,000 € the gob gives u if you buy an EV without or with scrapping your old gas car, so you can get it for at least 44.500 € or less. And yes! we have free health care and we are not living in a communist country.

      I feel 400 miles needs to be the norm. Especially if they want to get ICE drivers to go electric. Range IS everything because if you have to charge more frequently that costs you more money, especially on trips with how much more expensive Supercharger stations have gotten.

    • @wlucero2009

    • @Resist4
      @Resist4 2 месяца назад

      @@wlucero2009 It's not less expensive to charge an EV in some areas that have inexpensive gas. And yes I know "most" people don't need 400 miles of range but with less range you have to charge more often, which means your charging bill gets more expensive, especially on long trips. And if you're driving a Cybertruck it's even more expensive.

    • @wlucero2009
      @wlucero2009 2 месяца назад

      @@Resist4 you are wrong. I looked for the cheapest gas in the country. It’s around $2.90/gallon. Usually when there is cheap gas, there is cheap electricity. In this case I used Texas for cheapest gas and electricity. The electric rate is around 10.8c/kwh. When you do the math it’s cheaper to charge a car than to fuel with gas.

    Its all about the range, F the added performance. Most of us aren't racing our cars. Been saying this a for a long time now people are finally figuring it out. Until Tesla can compete with gas vehicles on range most people who live outside the ev bubble aren't going to feel there is enough benefit to replacing their gas or hybrid with a Tesla. Stopping every 250 miles to recharge your car is BS

    • @RAH_Holdings
      @RAH_Holdings 2 месяца назад

      Agree with you 100% not to mention the millions of people living in apartment buildings with no charging infrastructure and are not willing to stop every other day to charge for 20 minutes at a station. Before I got my home, I had that problem. And the sun roof is horrendous, some of the hottest thing I have ever touched. Not once have I driven to a location with a physical set of miles and my battery distance mile ever been that physical amount. Even in sweating conditions with the AC I would at best spend the 1.25x the physical distance in mileage battery meter. In my city at least where it’s sunny year round. In reality the vehicles are doing way less than advertised for mileage.
      I think we are still in version 1 of EV. Tesla stating that distance isn’t very thing is just corporate talk to admit the cost of battery and how the energy density is still not on par with gas.

Even as empty nesters with kids moved out using just one car as wife is legally blind and can’t drive Aptera wouldn’t work. While true most of time it’s just us, but several weekends a month we have 2 to 3 grandkids riding with us. Aptera could never carry the grandkids, so it could never be a single car for us. Aptera only works in multi-car families, which we are not.
