Thanks for enjoying this third video on my new spinoff channel for easier pop/mainstream piano arrangements. . Be sure to also see my hanellipsis channel - in striving for total musical accuracy, some of my arrangements end up being quite advanced - and those ones end up on my classical channel! And lastly, I've got a new Laufey cover up; check it out!
I like the heavy tone of the melody. It matches with her lamented voice. I also like how you maintain the register of her voice instead of using the higher octave, again it sounds grounded and heavy. Plus the arrangement is well thought ❤ and the playing is well executed.
Thank you! Yeah, I think register, tone, and voicing are such a big part of what gives each song its character, and most piano arrangements ignore that. And of course there's nothing wrong with really pianistic covers--many of them are creative and very good--but I've always liked to do very musically faithful arrangements. Somehow that's more satisfying for me.
I'll look into it! I'm still experimenting with what to put on this spin-off channel but it seems like everyone likes this singer the most so far, so more of her songs is a strong possibility.
This comment is very misinformed. For one, it's not the same instrumentation. Hers are piano-vocal sheets. Mine puts the entire song, melody and all, on the piano, and that completely changes how it's played. Only for her Nocturne (solo piano), it makes sense to just download her sheet (I had no idea she provided sheets when I did these by ear)--but even in that case there are parts where my rhythmic notation was more specific. Those free sheets are written by contracted arrangers, not herself. Secondly, the licensing setup for my sheet music actually pays most of the download fee to the original singers. Lastly, I've notated a lot more details from the recordings than what the free sheets offer. The intro of Bewitched, for example, emulates the orchestral textures in my sheet. I think if you had listened and compared, you'd see that.
The bridge 😍
Thanks!! I really wanted to make sure that sections like that were really accurate.
