So cpu max 130 + gpu max 75 + 2xram 10 + ssd 10 plus hdd 10 = 235 watts. But you also never reach this limit, because games are writen to use more cpu, or more gpu, so your system will never run on cpu and gpu at max at the same time. So in normal gaming my cpu takes 80watts, gpu 75watts so I still have plenty of space with 240 psu

Not sure why you went to all that trouble to change the PSU. Mine is an HP EliteDesk 800-G1 SFF unit that was a 4th gen i5 system. It's now a Core i7 4790, 24GB DDR3 RAM at 1600MHz, 128GB SSD drive and a 1 TB storage drive, 1300GBs internal WIFI card running at 5G, it also has a GeForce GTX 1050ti low profile GPU all using the stock 240 watt proprietary PSU and the stock CPU cooler. The system is quiet, stable and is very fast. Passmark system score of 4790 and over 100fps playing Diablo III all on high setting. This thing is pushing a 44" 1080p smart TV for a monitor without breaking a sweat. I've got about $385 total in the whole system (minus the TV, of course) I got that free from my brother.

Before i bought HP 8300 SFF i knew almost nothing about computers. I would never look inside even to clean dust. When bought HP i needed to put another RAM into it. That was the whole new level project for me and beginning of new hobby. For the last week i learned about computers more then i did for my whole life. Last night i learned that i can install I7 - 3770K in my motherboard(second hand of course). I have a question. What would you think- Will my motherboard allow me to have my I7-3770K overclocked? I checked it is compatible but i read even if there is compatibility, sometimes older motherboards are not able to have processor overclocked. I already have my 450W PSU arriving soon. Will 450W of power be enough to run - overclocked I7-3770K, GTX1050Ti Low profile, 1SSD, 1 HDD, 4 sticks of RAM, Audio Interface with connected condenser microphone, Wi Fi stick, managing 3 screens and do 4-6 hours a day of video editing(beginner and medium lever of complication) at the same time? I bought this PC to learn video editing. I really liked how you did yours in this video.
I am sorry for not answering to you earlier, because I was on vacations. I have four computers and I have never used overclocked on them. My suggestion is procced with the upgrades for the 8300 and use overclock if you really need it. You must be very careful with overclocking because if something goes wrong, maybe you want be able to use the computer any more. For my video editing I use Dell laptop I5 5th generation, 4gb RAM, 1TB HDD, GPU with shared memory from the computers RAM. Nothing special and I am ok. For the PSU, the more watt the PSU has the better. The computer will start with 450watt PSU but if it goes to it's limits restarts or shutdown will occur. That's why before buying something for the PC you must first take a look with compatibilities and then buying them.
Well what I did was mute this music & played GRAVEYARD TRAIN by CCR on a different video for the background music. Made this video more enjoyable for me. 3x of GRAVEYARD TRAIN is pretty much satisfactory for my taste's

I keep reading your comments about why I have used 500 Watt PSU and not leaving the original 240 Watt PSU. People think. You are using a device that needs, in my case Gigabyte 1050ti LP OC, 300 WATT RECOMMENDED PSU (this is not from my head but I HAVE READ IT IN GIGABYTE SPECIFICATIONS), and some of you are still thinking leaving the original PSU and not buying a new one. 1. The original PSU is only 240 WATT. My GPU needs 300 WATT to work properly. What will happen when things get tough. You will burn it down. It's that simple. It needs POWER and you are not giving it to it. 2. You are buying a device that it's price is almost 300€, or 300$ and you are using a PSU that it's price is almost nothing, less WATT that you need and working hours are huge. You must protect your NEW GPU. 3. Yes the difference between the ORIGINAL PSU and the GPU WATT is only 60. Who cares my GPU NEEDS 300 WATT PSU not 240. 4. Yes it's a LOW PROFILE CARD why change the ORIGINAL PSU. Because GIGABYTE RECOMMENDS 300 WATT PSU NOT 240. 5. We always read the manual. We don't do jobs in computers without taking advice. We don't do things from our head. the result will be burning down the system and spend more money buying a new one. 6. I have used 500 WATT PSU because I had it spare and it is working fine until now.
Dude , i have an HP 6200 mt with a 240W PSU same as yours ,and i upgraded to the very GPU u have and its running exactly as it should . This new PSU you've upgraded to is only needed for higher end gaming GPUs that require a PCIE cable , like the gtx 1060 and above , come on man!
HAHAHAHA LMAO, OLD PSU = 240 watts GPU RECOMMENDS = 300 watts But the thing is the motherboard can output 75watts max for the pcie slot. They should be worried now where to put that PSU haha
You don’t need a 500w psu the 240w psu in the hp is enough for the upgrades you throw at it note that do not get a gpu that requires you to plug-in the 6pin only use a lp card like the gt 1030 or the gtx 1650 low profile
I 've watched thousands of videos on RUclips. This one is, to say the less, the most ridiculous one Ive seen so far! It should be called: "Incredible set-up with full air access for PSU!" Can't believe you stole 30 minutes of my life! ... Made a set-up on day where my PSU was outside the house with a 50 feet cable to my PC... Great....

HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE INTERESTED IN UPGRADING THEIR PC. So this is the upgrades ive done and the results. 2 hard drives 1 of 300GB and the other of 1TB ( i recomend a ssd for your operating system and 4TB harddrive for games/other) 16 gb of ram 1650 MSI low profile graphics card. 3, 92 MM fans (Artic F9 PMW , 1800 RPM for CPU cooler, Arctic F9 Silent 1000 RPM for Power supply and Arctic F9 1800 RPM for zip tie fan, ) elite display E231 1080P 60HRZ arctic 5 thermal paste. Personal modifications. the 3rd fan is in the middle of the Graphics card and the power supply. i hooked it up using zip ties. haha its just a work around for that proprietary shit. I leave the case open. Results. since ive build this for emulation ive only tried it for that. i can run 1080p 60 fps on anything up to the Nintendo switch if the Emulator supports it). so xbox 360 ps3, gamcube ps2, dreamcast ect. run just fine. The downsides: 1. Heat. when playing ps3 games, the CPU temperatures are higher than any other. all others are max 50 to 65 C but with PS3 emulation it goes up to 70-75 C dont get me wrong 75 is still a "okay" temperature anything above 80 is a red flag. 2. Old Tech Its a proprietary BTX motherboard. so you cant switch Cases for better airflow. you cannot add a new gen CPU's, A full sized GPU, any other PSU, DDR4 RAM, A Actual CPU Cooler. My recommendations. If you want a real PC Gaming experience. save your money for it dont spend on this. nothing like playing 4K games at 60 FPS with a monitor with the Hz to support it. If you do go with this dont upgrade to 32 GB ram. 16 and even 8 is enough. get a SSD for you operating systems and a 4 TB hard drive for games/other. replace the thermal paste (something better than the arctic 5 ) Upgrade to the i7-2600 Upgrade to windows 10 and upgrade your bios replace the fans, 92 mm fans for the power supply and cpu cooler get a 1650 MSI low profile graphics card for 1080P 60 fps gaming.
just adding this comment because i ran into this issue. you might have to repin the 4pin connector on the adapter. still workes just have to move the wires around.
What the point replacing your PSU for GPU which is not require an additional 6/8pin power directly from psu. Also u put gpu in the wrong socket, in HP's motherboard white socket having a PCIe x4 and have less power from motherboard, u need to put in black socket which is PCIe x16, and it have max 75watt from motherboard. But anyways thanks for 24pin to 6pin cable reference.
Jasper John Cinatad I changed the order on the white 4 pin cable connector on the 24 pin to 6 pin cable adapter. Take a look at the original PSU white 4 pin connector and do the same order in the adapter.
im wondering about possible overheating issues, if that cpu cooler is exhausting or in-taking, theory is if it is in-taking and pushing hot from the cpu to the graphics card area then the GPU could be runner hotter than normal, just a thought
I bounced thru it to the end waiting to see how he fit the big PSU into such a small case! So i must have gone at 20x and it still turned out to be a waste of time!

Am un 2023 and u save life for my pc elite I was get a gaming pc and relieving card mère of my hp pc and I was cringe PCU SO I BOUGHT ONE ANOTHER AND IS WORK TY U BEST
You set video card in 4x slot 😂 16x is black
Alex B it doesn’t really matter tbh. Only a 1fps difference!
The 4 has more power in it , if u put it in the black one it will kill the gpu
@@exe7936 That's completely false.

I was wondering why you had the SATA cables plugged into the two slower sockets at 3.0 GB a sec, rather than the 6 GB a sec blue sockets?
Great video!the steps were really easy to follow!
How does the psu fit in the case
XSGOD Gaming It doesn’t without case modification!
I watched this entire video to see how he replaced the PSU and he didn't. Wasted time, Watched all this to see nothing new.
@@Animalwon Same here. I'd love to see if someone found a 400+W PSU that actually fits. I can't risk having it sitting around with wires all over the place.
I have a micro ATX cheap case i fixed a 550w psu no problem...
The stock psu will handle that gpu without any problems.
Thank you I’m find this video where have you been!!!
Just gone through a similar process.. but not knowing what I was doing.. The video was clear and well lit, if you do this often though, invest in a mic.. and ditch the jolly pixie music :)
I did get the same graphics card but the 10 series only support UEFI bios so I had to change it for the 750 TI.. Wish people would tell you this if they are re-building older systems|
This was great videonexcept ypu put videp card into pci x4 instead of the black x16. also the psu does no lt fit into case?
Well what I did was mute this music & played GRAVEYARD TRAIN by CCR on a different video for the background music.
Made this video more enjoyable for me. 3x of GRAVEYARD TRAIN is pretty much satisfactory for my taste's
Some low profile GPU cards don't fit inside the case, like the GT 710. Hacksaw mutilation later it fit - the VGA DVI HDMI part was too high. Not sure about the 500w PSU - did it fit inside the case? Who knows. This guy loves his GPU i think.
Hey, do you have any case recommendations?
I watched this video to see how a bigger PSU will look in the case. And I thought I was crazy like where the PSU lmao
Keemborghini me too but never showed how!!
He never did put it inside, he left it hanging outside by its wires.
Me:mom, i want a heater for my bedroom because i poop for the cold that is,
Mom:we already have a heater in our house, is even in your bedroom, the pc!
Me:whaattt?
My pc running at 80°Celsius with the fan at 900 rpm and sounding like a plane, leaving it tonight, my bedroom's temperature before: 19°celsius, after the change: 40°celsius on my bedroom, just a joke, but excluding that with the fan and the gpu integrated in the cpu, that is really true, sounds like a plane when close to pc
I have just replaced my HP 8300's dead power supply for another 230 watt one. I didn't even know I could get 500w version.
I keep reading your comments about why I have used 500 Watt PSU and not leaving the original 240 Watt PSU.
People think. You are using a device that needs, in my case Gigabyte 1050ti LP OC, 300 WATT RECOMMENDED PSU
(this is not from my head but I HAVE READ IT IN GIGABYTE SPECIFICATIONS), and some of you are still thinking leaving the original PSU and not buying a new one.
The PCI-e slot can only output 75 watts. That card is not using external power.
"PSU is only 240 WATT. My GPU needs 300 WATT" never touch a pc again, if you clearly have no idea.
Ρε ψηλε τι λες;
HAHAHAHA LMAO,
OLD PSU = 240 watts
GPU RECOMMENDS = 300 watts
But the thing is the motherboard can output 75watts max for the pcie slot. They should be worried now where to put that PSU haha
Thank you. Very helpful.
Great....
What do I do if my gpu does not fit in my computer? It has the right number of pins and is compatible but it doesnt fit in the case I am using. Could I cut the bracket in order to allow for a larger gpu?
you can
where did that psu go
Thegamerkeemo56 the original PSU I am not using it anymore.
@@PcLaptopUpgrades He wanted to know how you mounted the new psu...I suspect you just connected it and left it outside the case since you showed no video of it's whereabouts.
@@PcLaptopUpgrades
But how do you change the new PSU in the old case? did you use that case? thnx
@@PcLaptopUpgrades so the psu is not in the case? Its outside the case or what? Im planning to change psu sooner if I need..
@@ilhambarlian1853 he left it outsite the case since it doesn't fit in the case lol
So where did you place the PSU ? Outside of the case ? I gave a thumbs up because i found out about the 24-to-6 pin adapter. But dude... you spent half of the video tightening the VGA plate.
Where is PSU. I didn't see on the video. It's realy nice. i just wanna plan to upgrade my pc HP compact elite 8200 same on this video..
watched to see you install the ps in the case ....and you don't what a waste of time
That PCIe 6 pin connector you plugged into the custom 6 pin HP connector is wired differently. Don't use it you'll end up frying the motherboard
You didn't show installing new PSU. How did you mount it? Did top fit back on? How did you get away from the TMP 2.0 requirement??
It's kinda ghetto because you have to keep the new power supply outside of the computer case....should have got a atx hp tower.
Cool Guide : did you make that splitter : 24 to 6 for motherboard - I need it 🤔
Order online
this works if its only 20 look for the other 4 pin and connect it :)
Add an SSD as your boot drive and load games on HHD. Or add additional SSD for storing games.
HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE INTERESTED IN UPGRADING THEIR PC.
So this is the upgrades ive done
and the results.
2 hard drives 1 of 300GB and the other of 1TB
( i recomend a ssd for your operating system and 4TB harddrive for games/other)
16 gb of ram
1650 MSI low profile graphics card.
3, 92 MM fans (Artic F9 PMW , 1800 RPM for CPU cooler, Arctic F9 Silent 1000 RPM for Power supply and Arctic F9 1800 RPM for zip tie fan, )
elite display E231 1080P 60HRZ
arctic 5 thermal paste.
The downsides:
1. Heat.
when playing ps3 games, the CPU temperatures are higher than any other. all others are max 50 to 65 C but with PS3 emulation it goes up to 70-75 C
dont get me wrong 75 is still a "okay" temperature anything above 80 is a red flag.
2. Old Tech
Its a proprietary BTX motherboard. so you cant switch Cases for better airflow. you cannot add a new gen CPU's, A full sized GPU, any other PSU, DDR4 RAM, A Actual CPU Cooler.
My recommendations.
If you want a real PC Gaming experience. save your money for it dont spend on this. nothing like playing 4K games at 60 FPS with a monitor with the Hz to support it.
If you do go with this
dont upgrade to 32 GB ram. 16 and even 8 is enough.
get a SSD for you operating systems and a 4 TB hard drive for games/other.
replace the thermal paste
(something better than the arctic 5 )
Upgrade to the i7-2600
Upgrade to windows 10 and upgrade your bios
replace the fans, 92 mm fans for the power supply and cpu cooler
get a 1650 MSI low profile graphics card for 1080P 60 fps gaming.
just adding this comment because i ran into this issue. you might have to repin the 4pin connector on the adapter. still workes just have to move the wires around.
i installed the gold 550 watt one :)
Should've just swapped into a mATX case so is doesn't look like a turd. The conversion cables are a good idea though, haven't seen them before.
24:51 - it's not OK you put it into PCIe x4 not x16. The black one is x16;) you need to install it again.
I am yet to get one of those PSU conversion cables to work.
You don’t need a new psu only if you’re getting a gtx 1660
NICE VIDEO THANKS !!!
AHHH THE MUSIC
This "music" makes me want to put my head into a Woodchipper... well played Satan, you win this round..!
Did you change the pins on the power supply cable before plugging it in the motherboard?
Jasper John Cinatad I changed the order on the white 4 pin cable connector on the 24 pin to 6 pin cable adapter. Take a look at the original PSU white 4 pin connector and do the same order in the adapter.
@@PcLaptopUpgrades Thanks!!
Can it be the ram that came with the PC?
Where did you put the psu?
He left it outside, it wasn't listening when he wanted it to be in the case, so it went for a time-out...
im wondering about possible overheating issues, if that cpu cooler is exhausting or in-taking, theory is if it is in-taking and pushing hot from the cpu to the graphics card area then the GPU could be runner hotter than normal, just a thought
Reply after 2 years yes but it won't drop performance just try to not over clock it and It will be perfectly fine
Bridge the last 2 pins on the small white connector of the adapter to bypass the fan error
Even with 2x Speed, this video is so slow....you had the potential of making a great video instead of showing us how a screwdriver works.
I bounced thru it to the end waiting to see how he fit the big PSU into such a small case! So i must have gone at 20x and it still turned out to be a waste of time!
Chaotic Evil, pclaptop is clearly a sociopath

Hey man, could you tell me please, what is the form factor of this motherboard? Atx? Mini itx? And can I transpose it to another computer case?
Good evening. It's an ATX MB but you can't transfer it to another case because the backplate connectors are in completely different positions than the usual motherboards.
@@PcLaptopUpgrades ok, thanx a lot

Tell us why you show the Cooler Master 500w; you can't have it mounted. missing a piece of video, how did you put it? I have an HP 8300 Elite. It's impossible.
I asked for it. Do you need to modify the HP Compaq 8300 Elite sff
Can't we just use the gfx card 6 pin connector?
What about the power supply...how did it fit!!??
this motherboard is HP 3396?
Why would you bother replacing the psu if you bought a low profile graphics card? And you put the graphics card in the wrong slot.
A lot going on here. empty ram slots, gpu plugged into the wrong slot, no pic of the power supply actually in the machine, or the cover closed. I think i'll be moving along now.
Can u do the same for prodesk 400 g5 sff?
you can not install the normal psu becouse its bigger than the original
where did you put the new psu
he didnt put inside as it wouldnt fit in the case and most people are saying that that graphics card doesn't require a stronger psu
La gran pregunta... donde queda la fuente de poder (Power Supply)
Pardon my french, but I nearly shit myself seeing this the exact same as my build, even the GTX 1050 is the one I'm getting that's crazy
WTF is this music man lol You don't to need to upgrade power supply as the comsumption is less than 120 Watts while playing games. The power supply is very efficient. HP has done a good Job on this computer.
And if we want to close the cabinet?
Bro installing on the other black slot gives you more speed that white slot speed is slower I saw the explanation on another video you should change
Graphics card - in downgraded slot?
Sorry but default HP PSU has pins 1 and 2 for PSU fan control. You plugged them as ground (COM). Does it really work?
@pc laptop , can I transfer the new parts and the motherboard into a different case
You will need a BTX case. The easiest way is going get any series of the MT (Micro Tower) case from HP as well.
I installed a GTX 750 Ti in an Elitedesk 8200 SFF and think I saw a max power draw at the wall at around 150 watt. So a bigger PSU than the one included is time and money wasted.
Did you fit that PSU in there?
