    If your wires fall behind the wall, you're not going to have a good time. PRO TIP: After you remove the old thermostat, make a hook on one of the wires and attach a fishing line or anything to that can help you pull back the wires, incase they fall behind the wall.

    Thanks for the video is excellent. We, my son and I , install one of those today but there were some problems, the ac was going on and off so he decided to turn it off. We change a Honeywell to the Nest same that you show in the video. we mess up on one wire didn't where to connect it. We had W on E, Yellow on Y, Green on G, Red on R, Blue on B, and Brown on C, on the Honeywell. Move to the Nest and connect Yellow to Y1, Green to G, Brown to OB, White to W1, Blue to C, Red to RH. Can you please verified the connections and see if you see something wrong to fix. Thank you so much

    Hi there,
    I just installed my nest learning thermostat. The old thermostat had 1 red wire that was connected to Rc. In addition, there was a very short red wire connecting from Rc to Rh. Because there is technically only 1 red wire coming from the wall, I plugged it into Rh in the nest thermostat. The a/c is on but when I go to turn it on the breaker, it keeps tripping. Any help please? Thank you so much

    • @ApartmentMaintenancePro
      @ApartmentMaintenancePro  2 года назад

      The RC and RH should have a jumper wire UNLESS you have a system that uses two transformers. If your breaker is tripping you have a high voltage short to ground somewhere.

    So I have a Honeywell system but it doesn’t use the blue C wire or it isn’t connected on it but I want to install the nest, so my question is will it matter if I use it or not?

    • @ApartmentMaintenancePro
      @ApartmentMaintenancePro  2 года назад

      Nest says that you can use this without the common wire. But, from my experience you will have issues with it. If possible, try and hook up the common wire. I can make a video on different ways to do this or there are also alot of them online as well

    • @ApartmentMaintenancePro

      Some may charge without the C wire but it depends which model you have. Nest sells a power connector that’s pretty reasonable as well that works like a common wire

    Hi There, I have one Lennox AC unit which is controlled by two Lennox M30 thermostats. One of the thermostats installed in my Bed Room has 5 wires only i.e. R, Y1, W1, G and C, the living room thermostat has all these wires with additional Orange wire connected to ACC2. I assume I can connect the R wire either to Rc or Rh, however where shall I connect the Orange wire which is connected to the ACC2 on M30 thermostat?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a carrier infinity system and my HVAC guy told me it would be a “downgrade” to install the nest thermostat. He ordered a new Wi-Fi thermostat made by carrier and it will cost me about $900. Am I being ripped off?

    • @ApartmentMaintenancePro
      @ApartmentMaintenancePro  2 года назад

      I don't know. While Nest thermostats are awesome, there are definitely better and (pricier) thermostats on the marker. I would do your own research as I have no idea which carrier infinitiy thermostat or series you have is :)

  • @chelin7023

    Very Important (left out) the identification of the wires for a heat pump system. Which set of letters are the ones choosing to later match with the Nest lettering system. It is important since there are two sets in the old thermostat ( for conventional and for heat pump) using the conventional set of letters on a heat pump will not produce the desired results or could even damage the thermostat.

    • @ApartmentMaintenancePro
      @ApartmentMaintenancePro  Год назад +1

      There is no identification for the wires unless you use a meter and OHM out the wires from the wall (thermostat) to the heat pump or furnace. Everytime I mention wire colors its general (but do at your own risk) they can be different

    My system only has 2 wires (red & white) connected to the existing thermostat. There is anantenna box controller connected to the system which, is believed to have been installed because the other wires aren't working, due them being damaged etc? My heat and AC currently work. If I install a Nest thermostat, could I continue to just connect only the red & white wires?
