the nest is garbage, its temp sensors are out of wack and google refuses to replace or warranty them, yet most of my neighbors have them and have the same issues, house has been at 78 degrees or more for the last few weeks, this is outrageous, and i spent the last 6 hours on hold attempting to speak to google nest team about this and they will not answer and when you press the number to leave a callback number it says the mailbox is full and hangs up, DO NOT BUY NEST PEOPLE, save your money and spend it on something better

I had the Ecobee (older version) for a couple years in my old house with zero issues. When I moved my new house already had a new gen 3 Nest installed. Worked great for two months then it stopped connecting to my wifi. Contacted Nest and they sent a refurbished replacement. It connected to my wifi and worked for a day and then it stopped connecting. I will ask for another replacement then if still does the same thing I will go back to Ecobee. I read this is a known issue with the Nest.

We’ve recently installed a modulating furnace and a 2-stage heat pump Rheem HVAC system…. The Nest has been unable to accommodate the switch from gas furnace to electric heat pump and we’re being told the Nest technology is not compatible with these newest HVAC systems. Has anyone else experienced problems with Rheem HVAC systems and the Nest?

I have been using nest for many years with a 15 year old Rheem AC. Just replaced it with a new trane heat pump and the nest would run the indoor fan all the time and could not turn it off. They HVAC guys put on a Honeywell standard thermostat and that problem was solved. Very disappointing. Think I will try the Honeywell smart thermostat.

The most basic setting which my family want doesn’t work. We want to set the heating to turn on early morning before we wake up. I have set a schedule and it just won’t turn itself on! I’ve even tried it with the Nest not turned off but at lower temperature and it still won’t activate at the time I’ve set. I’ve turned off all smart learning features and that doesn’t help either. So annoying because other than that, it’s a good bit of kit. If anyone has successfully done this please tell me how you did it. Thanks for the video.

I prefer the Nest E compared to all of them never had a single issue with it, but they don't sell it in stores anymore had it 4 years until lightning hit our house and destroyed it, it's by far the superior version. Nest learning was absolutely garbage always had issues with it as it would change the temperature by itself, tried adding a common wire since this version has a common known issue where it loses power in cold weather but the common wire didn't fix it and turns out after 1 year (bought brand new from Walmart in October 2023) the Rc terminal went bad during the coldest time of the winter causing our furnace to short cycle $230 down the drain. I can't stand the Nest 2020 model (current install now) it's ugly, basic and don't get me started on the crappy thermostat UI for Google home since this is the first thermostat that DOES NOT allow the useage of the Nest App but it was the only option we had.

I am looking for a smart thermostat for an airbnb property. I need it to have the function where it can be nearly 100% operated from the App so that the ONLY function that the guests can access is turning it off or boosting it incrementally for up to say 6 hours maximum. I need it so that guests are also unable to change this setting.
Do you know if any thermostats have this available in the settings ?
