I just made this recipe. I forgot to weigh my water after 5 minutes🤯 daughters kept texting. 🤭 Oh well. It was thick so l had to boil more water to add so l gustomated a bit more optiphen🤷♀️ Still wasn't as liquidity as yours but it's not for sale so family will enjoy it to the bottom of the bottles😂😂😂 Will say after getting it in bottles and rubbing in the remnants on my hands and arms I'm SO sold on it. Love, love it. 💞💞💞 you're so appreciated l don't think you'll ever know the amount of us that need such an angel as you.😇
Ellen I hope you can understand that you just don’t make stuff not that that isn’t huge already because it Is. But what you are so beautifully gifted with is teaching and encouraging. You help those of us when we feel down or feel like we just want to throw in the towel so to speak. May God continue to bless and prosper you in this incredible ministry that you have. You are such an inspiration Ellen!! My ex husband passed away a few weeks ago , my kids are devastated, it's so hard.....you have made me feel that I can go forward and continue to use soap making as therapy and an artistic outlet.❤I appreciate you so much.

I am from Nigeria just ordered my Body Butter and Body Scrub materials to start my business using almost 80-90% of your recipe. Thanks for your time, energy, knowledge....... Love from Nigeria😍😍😍
I made this recipe, but I didn't have enough of the ewax so I combined...it turned out like a silicone glove lotion but without the stickiness and it soaked into the skin...the prrrroooobbbllem was that it was so thick, it wouldn't come out of the bottle...so it is in a straight-sided jar now. Today, I am going to follow the recipe to a 'T' today. Thank you, Ellen Ruth for the wonderful recipe...those guinea piglet customers that tried this love, love, loved it!
I had to stop and offer a note of gratitude. It hadn't even occured to me that it's already been a whole year since I last made anything new, something I don't already have the recipe memorized for. Then it dawned on me that the last thing I made was a recipe you shared. Now here I am, twelve months and 2,500 miles later (long story) and finally able to get creative again. It's been a long year. Just wanted to let you know how special your channel is, how gifted a teacher you really are, and how gracious it is of you to share your wisdom so freely with all of us. What a wonderful human being you are. Your channel has offered my weary heart a familiar place of refuge, of respite and comfort that I didn't even know I was looking for. Thank you sister. I'll keep you posted on the recipe but I'm sure it'll turn out great. May the Most High bless you and keep you, always.
Good afternoon from Tasmania Ellen I made a batch of your lotion using essential oil my combo Rose Geranium, Frankincense and Patchouli using recommended amounts. I started nice and early and when the postman came with a package he commented on the wonderful smell in my kitchen (where I work) I had just bottle/jar it. He went away very happily with some soaps as I have so many needing to be used. Anyway back to lotion mine seemed a little thicker not quite pourable but luscious creamy so popped into piping back as my small glass pump bottles had smallish neck this worked a treat and spooned into jars. Just tried and it does pump ok the lotion is gorgeous on the skin leaving a lovely silky feeling. So once again Ellen thank you one more Christmas gift ready for family/friends. I also made a face serum last night just enough for me to trial it’s good too.
You literally read my mind about a pump able body lotion! Last week, I looked through all your videos to see if you had a more liquid body lotion recipe and couldn't find anything. I have made your indulgent body butter last year and love the recipe!! This year, I am making gift boxes for my BFF's co workers, and want to make a body lotion they can pump. Just in time, you came out with this video and I truly appreciate it:) Thank you.

Hi Ellen! This lotion changed my life. It completely changed the texture of my aging hands. I made it once with the cocoa butter cashmere scent and loved it and then I made a batch to put in a large pump bottle like you did and used the Bramble Berry Cherry Blossom scent. Soooooo good. This scent rices in cp but so lovely and light even at the strongest usage rate for lotion. My husband loves this lotion as well because it soaks in so well. 10 star rating from us for the lotion and you!❤❤❤
O. MY. Just made this. I’ve been without this and living in Arizona where the dryness sucks all the moisture out of your skin. I thank you !! although late for me coming to your party , it’s better than never. 🎉
This is an amazing recipe. It more of cream to me. Mine was thick and whippy. Definitely absorbs quickly on the skin. I think I will reduce the emulsify wax and oils to 2 ounces each. I would like it to be more thinner 😊
I'm just on my way to making this lotion with my magnesium oil! My little bath company makes Epson & Dead Sea Salt based products! My customers absolutely love your thick and luxerious Lavender & Vanilla cream. I'm so excited to offer them a pumpable version!
Thank you so much for your time and educational knowledge of the product. I am a home based small business and trial and error has been my best friend. I tried this last night and I am amazed. I think i over poured the emulsifier because I am a little think but I did test the pumps and it finally came out.
I made this recipe yesterday and gave some to my mom and mother in law to give me their opinions. I made some changes to the oils used but they LOVED IT!!!!. Now I just have to try and find some bottles. Thanks so much for sharing your talent. You are definitely my favorite soaper and body care product source of inspiration. I can't wait to watch your videos for 2023.
Wow! 4% fragrance load seems high for a lotion. I have always used 1% and that is strong for my scents. I like the addition of hemp, I bet it's really luxurious.
I definitely need to try this recipe. Because just like you I love lotion. Or even a good whipped body butter as soon as I get out of the shower. Can’t wait to give it a try!!! 💙💙💙
Came right on time! Just this morning I was looking for a pumpable lotion recipe. My husband doesn't like thick lotions, or any lotion he has to twist open. He just wants to pump, apply any go. I'll get started tomorrow morning on this recipe. Thank you!

Hey beautiful Ellen...I just made your awesome lotion ❤️ There is some condensation in the top of the bottles. Should I wait for it all to evaporate before I put the pumps on? I used Water Lily Fresh Mint from Nature's Garden. I also have a soap in this scent. A great Christmas gift pairing. Thank you for all your awesomeness.😍
Hi! Thank you for sharing! This looks like an amazing recipe to try! I have heard good reviews about the fragrance, I’m gonna have to buy this fragrance!

Hi Ellen! How do you get fragrance smells out of your silicone liners? Thank you SO much for all you do and share! You have been an inspiration and mentor to me as I mature in my soaping journey ♥️
My stick blender has a whisk attachment. I don't use it for B&B, but yesterday, I was making a Chocolate Pie and a Lemon Pie and I used the whisk attachment to smooth the filling before pouring.

Hi i just love your bubbly energy, you're such a wonderful teacher i love watching and learning from you. I am now starting to do lotions and was wondering if i can incorporate seamoss into this recipe? If so how much is a safe amount and will the optiphen be the recommended preservative? I look forward to your response 😊 thank you very much.
Hi. Im new to all of this. Im about to make my first soapand just starting out with m and p soap first. I do want to make body lotions and butters as well. My question is what do you think is easier to make, soap or lotion? Im feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the videos Ive been watching and want to start off with something to ease myself into this so I dont get discouraged. I love all of your videos. You have such a calming and sweet demeanor and its wonderful of you to share all your tutorials with us.
I am going to try your recipe, Ellen! I've been making lotion (friends & fam) for many years and all my recipes incorporate the oils to water while both are still hot, and too many times, the oil and liquid separate, ruining my lotion. So, watching your video blew my mind.Really, I didn't know you could add the liquid ingredients after oils cooled and still get good incorporation. What temperature do you cool down to? Thank you thank you!!! I will let you know how it turns out. Will be making lotion for Christmas presents. Have you ever put beeswax in your lotion? I always do and love it but will leave it out first time trying your recipe.🧴🧴
It's separating because you use beeswax. Beeswax and emulsifing wax is 2 different things. Emulsifing wax holds oil and water together. Beeswax will eventually separate. Some people also add Cetyl alcohol or stearic acid as a co- emulsifier to help.
Thank you Ellen! I love your recipes and tutorials. Do you ever test the pH of your lotions? I've been reading about this,, especially for use with different preservatives. Would love your thoughts.
I know it’s really important to test ph when making shampoo 🧴! And hot process soap -test the ph to make sure it’s completely finished cooking. Just examples.
Hi Ellen, long time supporter of your channel, absolutely love your videos! I have made this lotion for myself several times and I try to adjust it a little each time and it just keeps getting better! I do have one question though, can I substitute the water for aloe Vera juice or do partial water/partial juice? Thank you!!
Thanks so much, I've been waiting for a liquid lotion recipe from you! I'm going to try it tomorrow. Is it okay to use essential oil instead of fragrance?
Hi Ellen- i love your channel. I have a question- I made this recipe with 5% FO (the IFRA 5a is unlimited). I can hardly smell it. Does it take a week or two to cure to get a good, scent? With body oils, for example, I do notice the scent gets stronger after 2 weeks. If that's not the case and I need more FO, what is the maximum fragrance load you would go with if you wanted a strong scent with a FO that allows for an unlimited amount? Thank you so much for your time. ❤
it would be awesome if you teach us a body mist / body spray recipe like the ones from VS! could you do this for us? loved your work. gained a subscriber. kisses from Brazil!
I tried your recipe. It is really wonderfull and the skin is silky after using it.Thanks allot for sharing your expertise. the lotion was a thick and fit in jar more than in a bottle. Any advise to make it more liquid and can be pumped easily? Thanks allot for your recommendation.
I made your oat water infused lotion for pump and the consistency was perfect. This one came out much thicker for me and I cannot even get it out of my flip top lids. I love it but next time a jar. My question... how can I thin this recipe out? Should we reduce the wax to 2 g? Do we need to change anything else? Thank you!!!
Thx for nice video, can you kindly tell me how you know the expiry date of the lip balm/ and other body products that you mad so you can put it on the product and how / where you keep all the ingredients safely like bee wax and oils butter etc from mold is it in the fridge or at room temperature + can you made liquid lip balms so we can press and squeeze it easily from container + can you make all natural save soup without chemicals or suda or whatever only natural ingredients
Each oil and butter that you buy to make with will have an expiration date and instructions on how to care for the product, like keep away from sun or refrigerate... When making a lip balm or other product, try to use fresh ingredients, then I recommend using within 1-2 years of making.
@@EllenRuthSoap Aww thx for replying, kindly don’t forget my request and also can you made blush stick that can we use for Cheeks, lips and eyelids and make tutorial for how you sanitizer ur lip balm and body butter containers if possible, I know I asking too much but u seems Someone who is caring and keen and knows what she is doing ❤️
Just made this recipe and even though it turned out a little thicker than I would have liked, it still pumps. This is a wonderful recipe and thank you so much for sharing it! I love your videos and enjoy watching you make things! I do have a question though... Is it possible to add color of some kind to it? My hemp seed oil is dark green and the lotion was not a pretty color (greenish). Any suggestions on adding color? (BTW, made a 2nd batch with different oils and color was much better but would still like to color it sometimes.). Thanks again!!
I want to try this soon. Do you need to sanitize the bottles/jars when selling the lotion? If so, how do you sanitize the bottles like you are using? Thank you!
Hi. I love watching your videos and have learnt a lot from them. I am a fan of the way you talk. So homely. I have a doubt to ask. I have just started making lotions and am on a learning spree. I hope you will help me with this. I used 40% oils, 30% each of fresh aloe and distilled water. 4% E-wax and all other components just as you mentioned. The lotion turned out really nice, the same consistency as you have shown. You have used 16% E-wax. Is it because your oil is comparatively lesser? Could you help me understand.
I tried this today as my first lotion. It ended up working and I really like the feel of it but I did have a panicked moment when I combined the phase one with the phase two. It might not have been at the correct cooled temp. The wax started to seize. Luckily I stuck it in a microwave a few seconds and was able to recover it by blending. What temperature do phase 1 and 2 need to be when combined? My batch ended up making 27 oz.
@@EllenRuthSoap I used Bramble Berry's Cocoa Butter Cashmere fragrance oil and only had to use .4 ounce for the batch so it yielded less product than in the video. It must be more concentrated than the Be Scented version.

Thank you so excited to try it, and what's crazy I have all the ingredients. I have been buying little by little for about 7 months🥰
Wonderful! Have fun making❣️
Hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Cheers & Blessings 💕
Thank you, we did have a wonderful day. Hope yours was good too❣️
Hi i just love your bubbly energy, you're such a wonderful teacher i love watching and learning from you. I am now starting to do lotions and was wondering if i can incorporate seamoss into this recipe? If so how much is a safe amount and will the optiphen be the recommended preservative? I look forward to your response 😊 thank you very much.
I know you can use sea moss in lotions, but I haven't worked with it yet so I'm not sure... Maybe a future video😉
Welcome to the world of making, you'll love it once you dive in. I think lotion is easier than CP soap😉
Absolutely amazing 🥰
Thank you 🥰
Ty for recipe. Loved the video. Question when you were pouring into jars were there little lumps of cream, I could be wrong.
The clumps were just bits of cooled lotion, I could have blended them out more..
I like to blend my oils and liquid portion while they are still very warm, but not boiling... I've not added beeswax to lotion, I do love it..
Thanks! I have done simple pH tests, but I do need to get a better tester... It's never a bad thing to check.
@@EllenRuthSoap thank you! I've tried your other lotions and body butters, and soaps, so this will be on my next project list too!
Thank you!!
Yes 👍 Aloe is wonderful in lotions
Thanks!
Thanks so much, I've been waiting for a liquid lotion recipe from you! I'm going to try it tomorrow. Is it okay to use essential oil instead of fragrance?
Great! Yes essential oil would be great in this, just double check the usage rate😉
Good day my friend God bless your heart ❤️ ❤❤ id only go with .5 percent fragrance i think a soft small if wonderful. 😉
I would. It scent past the recommended amounts. Some fragrances are strong than others, so I would just read all the reviews.
Please tell us how you sterilized the equipment and how long that took.
Excellent tutorial. Looking forward to trying myself.
I wash with hot soapy water, air dry, then spritz with isopropyl alcohol and air dry again. I do it the day before I'm going to use them.
it would be awesome if you teach us a body mist / body spray recipe like the ones from VS! could you do this for us? loved your work. gained a subscriber. kisses from Brazil!
That's a great suggestion❣️ I'm going to go do some research...
Love this! What do you use for facial lotion or moisturizer?
I use all of my lotion formula's on my face and body, so which ever one I have just made is the one I'm using😉
I tried your recipe. It is really wonderfull and the skin is silky after using it.Thanks allot for sharing your expertise. the lotion was a thick and fit in jar more than in a bottle. Any advise to make it more liquid and can be pumped easily? Thanks allot for your recommendation.
I find this works great in a pump. You could try increasing the oils a bit.
@@EllenRuthSoap thank you so much. Will try it for sure🙏🏻🙏🏻
You can increase the water/liquid portion and decrease the E-wax a tad...
@@EllenRuthSoap thank you!!
@@EllenRuthSoap
Aww thx for replying, kindly don’t forget my request and also can you made blush stick that can we use for Cheeks, lips and eyelids and make tutorial for how you sanitizer ur lip balm and body butter containers if possible, I know I asking too much but u seems Someone who is caring and keen and knows what she is doing ❤️
I love this recipe! But could you please tell me what I am doing wrong to make mine go so thick?
You can reduce the E-wax a bit, and increase the water phase to thin it out.
Thank you! I will try that! Does mixing it too much make a difference too?
Thank you dear Ellen! How do you sanitize the bottles inside?? Many thanks!
I wash with hot soapy water, let air dry, then spritz with isopropyl alcohol and let dry again.
@@EllenRuthSoap thank you!
You so gona jump to the sky ,I know this feeling 😊
Just made this recipe and even though it turned out a little thicker than I would have liked, it still pumps. This is a wonderful recipe and thank you so much for sharing it! I love your videos and enjoy watching you make things! I do have a question though... Is it possible to add color of some kind to it? My hemp seed oil is dark green and the lotion was not a pretty color (greenish). Any suggestions on adding color? (BTW, made a 2nd batch with different oils and color was much better but would still like to color it sometimes.). Thanks again!!
You can add skin safe mica to color your lotions👍
@@EllenRuthSoap Will that leave mica on your skin? Thank you, I’ll give it a try!! ❤️
Love it
I want to try this soon. Do you need to sanitize the bottles/jars when selling the lotion? If so, how do you sanitize the bottles like you are using? Thank you!
Yes, it's recommended to sanitize. I spritz with isopropyl alcohol and air dry.
Just loved it . Can i use it for commercial purpose ma'am?
Yes👍
Yes, you can reduce the E-wax if desired, I just like the finished feel of this formula.
I am going to try your recipe. Loved it.
I blend them while they are pretty warm, but not boiling hot..
@@EllenRuthSoap I used Bramble Berry's Cocoa Butter Cashmere fragrance oil and only had to use .4 ounce for the batch so it yielded less product than in the video. It must be more concentrated than the Be Scented version.
