Hi all, We usually like to let people discuss our music without interference so as to not dampen criticism or appreciation, but there are a couple questions about this song that have been asked repeatedly with genuine interest so I will try to answer them. The singer's name is Chantalle. We think she is is a fantastic vocalist and she frequently lends her talents to our projects when we need her. We have a few other songs featuring her that will be coming out eventually. She is not a singer by profession, but is (we think obviously), pretty well practiced. The song was written for the cinematic for a RPG video game release that got killed by the game publisher. It was indeed about pirates and revenge and a hero's journey, which we think is one of the best kinds of stories. The "Blood Red Rose" is allusion to the nature of the main character in the RPG. The form of the lyrics were constrained by the requirement for an illustrative explanation of the narrative of the game coinciding with the visuals of the cinematic, along with a desire to be evocative of a mythical age in history, and as such we felt that employing free verse instead of a strict modern rhyming convention was the most effective choice. The extensive use of specific metaphorical references using words that have dropped out of modern vernacular (brigand for example), allowed us to reinforce the feeling of mythology rather than history. As a happy accident, we also quite liked the feeling that the lyrics seemed to have been translated from an anachronistic form of Olde English that couldn't quite have a direct rhyming equivalent in modern English. We create all our music in our studio in Southern California with both actual and virtual instruments. Lots of things that have real strings and get hit with real sticks usually. We create music and design sound effects for movie studios and game companies in order to pay our bills, but eventually we might be releasing the songs we create onto itunes as well. 5 years later. So I think this is kind of neat, because I'm an aspiring writer and I feel like this song fits really well with a story arc I did. Which dealt with a character who's last name is rose, who ends up almost drowning. She ends up fighting pirates, using their own blood as a weapon, and serves as a source of future danger for a dark forboding evil that threatens the world. Just brought a smile to my face hearing the lyrics and thinking of my own story. Love you guys~~
What I think: There is a girl and her father at sea. Pirates take over the ship, but a storm sweeps in, but only she survives,("The depths they would not claim her.") Now, she seeks revenge on those that have taken whom she loves, masquerading as "the blood red rose." It's weird, but it's just a thought. :\

Her kingdom of roses withered and all that was left was thorns and her insanity. She became obsessed with rats and blood magic.. and her unholy crusade of plague and pestilence on the world began.
