I acctully waaaay perfer season 2. As someone who is strongly against war and violence the first season made me really sick because I knew all the action and fighting was so pointless. So I really like the message and the direction the second season is taking.
As someone who loves Vinland Saga to death; I can understand people having issues with season 2 for not having action like in season 1. From their perspective, it can seem too odd of a tonal shift. Personally, I feel that the direction season 2 and onwards was going to take tonally was heavily foreshadowed back in season 1.
Tears to in my eyes. One of greatest anime openings ever. Went from badass Rock music in season 1 that represents the rage, pain, and anger inside thorfinn to a somber pop song in season 2 that represents thorfinn drowning in his tears, sadness, pain, regret, and sorrow. His rise will be beautiful.
True that's why I like about season 2 because of Thorfinn trying to confront his past sins but tbh it kinda dragged but still I thought it was a good season I know I wasn't that gore like season 1 but storywise was great.

If you guys didn’t notice, the credits in the op were in English. You can tell they were making this show with people from overseas in mind. If I remember correctly, Vinland Saga was more successful overseas than in Japan.

The opening is an artistic masterpiece, it tells all the concepts of the first half of the story, the music and the beautiful visuals are a masterpiece. VINLAND SAGA IS THE BEST ANIME OF THE YEAR.
Well, there's still AoT Part 3, but i guess it won't be as much loved because of the ending. So yes, Vinland Saga is probably the best anime this year.
From everything releasing this year, the only two that I can think of that might come close to VS are Mushoku Tensei S2 (depending on how much they adapt) and Insomniacs After School (which is probably only because of my specific taste) so yeah VS already IS the best of the year

I love how there's so much attention to detail and inner meanings in the visuals. Like the crown, covered in blood and soaking into Canute and changes him from what was a cowardly man with empathy, to a ruthless man who will do anything to achieve his goals.

Yo something about when Thorfinn and Einars reflections smash the Ice at the end, almost symbolic of them smashing throught their traumas and becoming the men they become at the end of the season.

I might be late to the game on this one, but I just noticed during the sequence where it shows Canute, the literal scar open his face opens up signifying the old wounds being opened up from season 1. Season 2 shows a more calm and pacifist Thorfinn whereas in the previous season he was bloodthirsty and animal like, but Thorfinn is still haunted from these past scars and they constantly come to terrorize him. Truly great imagery and writing

Genuinely one of the best openings I've seen in the last 10 years. Fits so well with the themes of this arc and was meticulously crafted by the song artist and the animation team.
0:44 I love how here they show that power comes with tragity and tough decisions that will lead to some blood shed. And he takes a moment to think before he puts the crown on, as the blood changes him. Showing all the burdens of the crown transferring to him.

I can't express how grateful I am for the creative effort of the team behind this anime. After watching the first episode I can already tell they understand the depth of the story and what Yukimura is trying to convey through his art. Magnificent opening 10/10

The people who are saying this season is bad because “there is no action” or “Thorfinn isn’t a badass” are missing the entire point of this story arc
So far it’s one of the best arcs I’ve seen in anime so far. So many good characters it’s breathtaking.

I love how there's so much attention to detail and inner meanings in the visuals. Like the crown, covered in blood and soaking into Canute and changes him from what was a cowardly man with empathy, to a ruthless man who will do anything to achieve his goals.

I might be late to the game on this one, but I just noticed during the sequence where it shows Canute, the literal scar open his face opens up signifying the old wounds being opened up from season 1. Season 2 shows a more calm and pacifist Thorfinn whereas in the previous season he was bloodthirsty and animal like, but Thorfinn is still haunted from these past scars and they constantly come to terrorize him. Truly great imagery and writing

Genuinely one of the best openings I've seen in the last 10 years. Fits so well with the themes of this arc and was meticulously crafted by the song artist and the animation team.
0:44 I love how here they show that power comes with tragity and tough decisions that will lead to some blood shed. And he takes a moment to think before he puts the crown on, as the blood changes him. Showing all the burdens of the crown transferring to him.

I don’t like how often the term “masterpiece” is thrown around but Vinland Saga deserves it. When this opening started playing I started welling up with tears just cause I can feel how much love, time, and effort went into just the opening much less the entire season. Words can’t describe how excited I am for this show!

ill say it again, this opening is a masterpiece that perfectly captures the theme of the season, both metaphorically in the inner battle inside thorfin, and literally regarding the actual physical direction of the story. Simply brilliant.

I find Aot's writing immature and shallow, nothing to compare with something like Vinland Saga, Mob Psycho (or Full Metal Alchemist).

Even after finishing the anime I’ve watched this an UNHEALTHY amount of times, its so good and represents the season so well

This is my favorite opening, having now seen all four. Mukanjyo is a very close second, but the animation and music fits the tone so incredibly well.

I love it when the music and visuals are so intricate, well made and matching, that they invoke other senses. Whenever I hear this song, I feel like I can feel the smell of melting snow, soap and yarn and something else I cannot quite find the words to describe.

Its been a long, long time since I've enjoyed an opening this much. Its unskippable, I love it.
I can't express how grateful I am for the creative effort of the team behind this anime. After watching the first episode I can already tell they understand the depth of the story and what Yukimura is trying to convey through his art.

I just thought river was amazing the way it tied into the show, “might river release my soul unto the open gold” plus canutes scar turning into king sweyns eye was cool as hell
