I told my husband the other day that I had found your channel and was soo jealous. My son would never. You're doing a beautiful thing guys, memories and building a strong relationship❤
Thanks! Teddy and I love doing this every week- I assume at some point he might not want to keep digging through people's trash with me, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts!
I just stumbled across this awesome channel of yours. The connection you have with your son is beyond amazing and truly heartwarming. He's one super intelligent kid and he sure does love being with his dad! I'm in Central Florida and wish I had the opportunity to be a plant pirate like y'all, but we don't have anything like this in my neighborhood. Free plants are the best...plus you are rescuing them which is fantastic!! I'm so glad you got some good finds. I would love it if you would do a propagating video with before and after information. Most videos show how to do it but do not include the results. Keep bringing this great content.
Thanks so much for the encouragement and ideas for new videos! We just made a video planting some of our cuttings in pots and we plan to make more of these and show the previously planted ones in the next propagating video so everyone can see what they look like after they’ve rooted and become established!
I love plants, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. It's a joy watching you teach your son about plants, snd spending quality time together! I just subscribed! 👍
No, but after so many requests we are working on posting those videos soon! Thank you for the suggestion! We love hearing what you guys want to see more of-thank you for watching!
I found your plant pirate videos a few days ago. We've been binge-watching since. There are so many plants that I didn't know would take!!! Would you please make a video on how you propagate them? Greetings from Spain!! 🇪🇸🖖
Thank you! These adventures are so fun for us and we have learned so much from them! We have had so many people request a propagation video! We will get going on adding these videos for you guys! We made some planting pirates videos in the beginning and they didn’t get a lot of reception but we do have those to watch on the channel if you look under the plant pirates playlist:-) Thank you so much for watching! Our family loves making these videos!
I just came across your channel. Young man is knowledgeable in plants. What fun. I'm jealous too of him walking barefoot. I could when i was a kid, but not now.
This is awesome! My 4 year old son is so into plants he would absolutely love this. I can't wait to move back to Florida again one day... I miss being surrounded by tropical plants. It's not the same currently having them in pots inside my home
Your son is very intelligent! I taught third grade for 34 years and I certainly recognize bright children. He knows as much as his father and even notices the slight variations and knows that the sunlight or the lack of sunlight causes some of those variations. I was at a farmer's market and bought a hot poker plant and a variegated yucca. As I carried my plants to the car. I picked up a tradescantia stem all bruised up. There is no doubt that by the end of summer I will have made more than one plant from that stem/branch. I consider myself a propagation queen in New Jersey.
Thank you! He is a smart kid and he loves learning about plants. Our younger two are in step behind him and learning all the plant names too! It’s a joy doing these videos with them! Thanks so much for watching!
@@IslandsnHighlands My daughter had one in a pot in NJ and then took it to her new home in Palm Beach Gardens. It did super well--in ten years they had to remove it.
Rubber trees and ficus are the worst, shallow roots that blow up sidewalks and hardscapes that grow even bigger when trimmed. Invasive root systems into any drain system.
They can be, but if planted away from those things they are an awesome fast growing hedge! They also are great houseplants- I’ve seen some awesome plantings where they flank both sides of a driveway and make a covered entrance to!
I;ve been trying to root my variegated sheffelara and it never works, I get roots in water but can never get it to survive in pots. How are ya'll doing it? I'm over here in 9 b inland.
We have had success rooting button ginger and spiral ginger from cuttings. Shampoo, shell, and galangal gingers from our experience need to have some roots to grow

With the high cost of plants,I am so glad you can save all these plants
Yes! And it’s a fun hunt too!

Thanks! We are lucky to live here for sure, but no matter where you live there are cool plants and gardening that can be done! Thanks for watching!
Man, this is awesome. I wish I could find goodies like this where I live.
Thanks- we have fun looking every week!

Cómo me gustaría hacer ésto , recolectar plantas...me gusta cómo trabajan en equipo ..
Make sure you plant your rubber tree away from the house... its radicular system is on another level.
Good tip here! Thanks for adding the info! These are wonderful in pots too!

It’s a fast growing tree! We joke about how in Florida houseplants go wild lol
We don't get ti plants in the box stores in Nashville. I'd love to do some plants trades
Crazy-we have them up in the north Georgia mountains! I would think they would be in Tennessee too…thanks for watching!
@@IslandsnHighlands I don't know why. It might be a lot plants not being sold. They do orders based on what sells
nice 😃
Thanks 😄
Rubber trees and ficus are the worst, shallow roots that blow up sidewalks and hardscapes that grow even bigger when trimmed. Invasive root systems into any drain system.
Very true. They make great shade trees (away from structures) as well as potted plants!

動画楽しみにしてました。広大な街並みと広いお庭🌲日本は狭いです🇯🇵見るたびに行ってみたいと思ってます✈️日本語ですみません🙇
Hi there, how's it going? I like what you do. It's wonderful when you find very nice plants. Go ahead. Mohamed boutar....from Agadir Morocco 🇲🇦
Thanks for the nice comments - glad you enjoyed it! Morocco looks like a beautiful country!
Thank you very much. Yes, Morocco is a very nice country. People are very friendly and the weather is very worn, especially in Agadir.
Awesome- we will have to check it out one day!
Where in central Fl r u as I would love to get some of your plants u don’t want.
We're near Vero Beach- there are tons of plants people set out every week!
I;ve been trying to root my variegated sheffelara and it never works, I get roots in water but can never get it to survive in pots. How are ya'll doing it? I'm over here in 9 b inland.
We just stick them right in the dirt (in a pot) and keep it watered and in the shade until it roots.
Dumb question, can you root ginger from ginger bought in store?
Yes you can. Read up on how to care for it is my suggestion. I tried this once and it worked bUT it dId not have enough time to do what it do. Zone 7
@lucypearlmorgan3115 thank you. Trying to find a way to have more plants but so expensive
We have had success rooting button ginger and spiral ginger from cuttings. Shampoo, shell, and galangal gingers from our experience need to have some roots to grow
What do you do with all the plants?
Plant them! In the ground and as houseplants! We also share with neighbors!
He needs shoes on his feet !!!!!
We live at the beach and are shoe-less all the time- its almost unavoidable...
