Nice work. I learned a lot about my OTF and grinding like you did fixed the problem. I initially put a piece of felt at the bottom so the blade would have a cushion to hit because I was certain the blade was bouncing off the butt before it could lock shut. That worked BUT I wasn’t going to trust that so I decided to grind.
it could be bouncing off the glass breaker if its over tightened and going in too far? mine was doing that, causing the rear of the blade to bounce of the glass breaker screw.
The whole box full is the same model of knife. I think there are about 68 or more in there. Button on the side, not on top. DA-OTF but a different mechanism from this type with the button on the top like this one. They are "returns" I bought from a knife seller so yes they are all malfunctioning in one way or the other. I ended up paying a lot of money because I bought so many but I wanted to conduct some research, learn the mechanism real well, and have some fun! I don't thing you can own too many knives! I bought several other type models also and I eventually want to do some exploring into the functioning. But I think if you also know how they malfunction you get to know the mechanism a lot better. Ok, I admit it, I'm fascinated by knife mechanisms!
Lewis How much did I grind off? I estimate I only took only a few thousands off at a time. But I probably did a lot more since I was worried about moving the blade so far forward that the point would be sticking out the front. It could have been as much as 1/8 inch that I took off. Or more. There would be a risk in grinding off too much to get it to function. But the fix would be grinding back the blade point if the fix caused it to go out too far. That would make for a short knife but one that opened. These fixes are for junk knives. If you have a $400 factory knife try to call them and see what they suggest. But try to observe what the knife does wrong. These things are complex in their operation and construction. Not just this but many things can go wrong. This might not be the fix you need. Send me a picture or video or put it up on RUclips. We all can have have have some fun with if nothing else.
Devildust I guess they are all likely Tomb raiders but I have not gotten into these. They are all broken or work only intermittently. I want to see how they function when they function correctly, and then how they don't function. The concept is similar to the Microtech model. I'll post a full report with technical analysis, a little knife BS, when I can. Thanks
Andrew You could be a bit more helpful. If you don't like my shitty camera perspective what does it need to fix it? Yeah I had some focus issues and got out of the field of view a little too often but I made an effort to explain what needed to be explained. Come on man. Too many people spend too much time NOT discussing the subject. Could better? No doubt! I'm learning. We all are. But if I felt it was crap and a waste of peoples time, I would not have posted it. I would never have posted it. I bet a few knife nuts (like me) got something out it. I do hope you got some info from it. I'll try harder.
OK, I thought my tripod was set up OK. I'll work on it in the future. Sorry for the poor cinema. I did buy a Canon DSLR autofucus camera, so that the hand held shots at least will get better. Maybe I should just get a regular movie camera.

I hadn't thought of that. Thanks

How about re aligning your camera, you’re killing us trying to see the end of the knife where the malfunction is. Edit before you upload
