- 16 year-old scientist and humanitarian Jack Andraka has already changed the world. At 15, he won the Intel ISEF Gorden E. Moore award, the $75,000 top prize, for his invention of an early stage Pancreatic Cancer diagnostic test. Being referred to "the 15 year-old who changed the course of medicine" was not enough for Jack.
Jack has put together a team of teenagers from across the country and entered the $10 million Qualcomm Tricorder X PRIZE competition that will be judged and decided in the end of 2015. The goal of the Tricorder X PRIZE competition is to create a device the size of a smart phone that can make reliable health diagnoses, which would be available directly to consumers at anytime, anywhere.
If you thought Jack's Pancreatic Cancer diagnostic test was a game changer, just wait until 2015 to see what his team unveils. It will change your mind!

less than 20 seconds in I had to pause it so I could catch my breath from laughter! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Greatest freak out ever! XD
I didn't know Fred was good at inventing things.
He looks like Hanna Montana's brother
This guy is going to radically change the world. FAST!
Amazing!
I hope Jack gets the money he and his team needs.
i lost some one that i know from pancreatic caner, when she get diagnose its already stage 4. now your invention will safe millions of live. thank you.
"Two years...that's like one-eighth of my entire life." HAHAHAHAHA Jack, you're awesome.
his fucking scream omg...
I love how he just jumped up before his name was even called! lol
Thank you so much to help save lives, could be our parents, brothers, friends
pharmaceutical and health-related companies exist to generate income. And cancer treatment drugs are the most expensive. Anything that prevents the sales of those drugs ( be it diagnostic tools or even innovative treatments ) is a threat.
By the way, I did my degree and masters 90% using Google and wikipedia and haven't attended almost any classes at all. It did take me longer than usual but that's because I didn't even study much. RUclips's tutorials are also VERY useful.
Seeing what these kids my age are doing makes me WANT to do my homework.
love this kid... a little genius... so sincere and inspiring... GREAT VIDEO!!!! and love what he said
"not to be offensive to adults, but most adults once you are over 30, you have those preconceived blinders on, so you can't really do as much innovative thinking as teenagers can"
great reflections
That scene of him stroking that electric ball thing & smiling was terrifying!
he's awesome don't get me wrong but that scream..... hahaha
The first 22sec are priceless
This young man needs to win! GOOD JOB Jack, we're rooting for you!
This is exactly why I don't donate to chareties, because I know my money isn't going any where other than big companies pockets
Jack is amazing and I would love to meet although I wouldn't have much to say to him because I am no where near his level of intelligence. I guess I would stand in front of him and stare at him in awe. Good luck to you Jack and your team.
Steve Jobs would've been alive had this kid invented this in the womb! Darn!
Way to go Jack! All of us at The Bunk Room are cheering for you!!
this guy is the one to find a cure for cancer
What a Badass! We need more Jack Andraka's
That's quite inspiring. What is impressive is that he has no complex about his age, and doesn't even try to do as well as the best things that already exist, he's aiming at improving the best things by a gigantic margin.
ridenrezer has it right! BEST REACTION EVER!! A truly awesome young man who has already made a huge contribution to humanity!
Notice most of these people on here have accents
I too am a primarily internet based learner, however don't underestimate the value of in person education. These are both important methods of learning.
Kind of stuck up.
But seems like a decent person
Lol yes. Do you think he was happy at winning? ;)
What an amazing kid! The only thing that surprised me was that he said he uses Wikipedia for so much of his information. I mean, anyone can change information written on Wikipedia. And it's not a credible source for citations. But I in no way mean to discredit his work or his brilliance! If only everyone could be a little more like him, this world would be a better place.
thinkr is the best and showcases the best people!!!!!!!
BEST REACTION EVER!! Awesome this kid is changing the world!
Wiki is actually becoming a credible source now a days. I attempted once in college to change information and they threatened to contact my school judiciaries.
God bless this young manI hope he and his young colleagues succeed in this endeavour.
Jack is a BADASS. I sent Thnkr a message about him a while back and was ensure they were already working on the video. I've been looking forward to this for a while. Awesome stuff guys.
The super large overlays are so annoying.Great site apart from the fact that you cant click them away.
I've often run into the problem of mistaking my drinks for bombs
Jack your awesome and when I have kids one day in the far far far future I hope they're as smart and interested in science as you are
Inspiring kid. Where can a person get his test?
It's narrow minded to say that everyone over 30 is narrow minded. Go for it, 10 million bucks is what you deserve if you pull this off.
This is your mind on science.
so will we see more about his team?
awwww we need more people like this in the world
From wiki 'The boys' father, Steve Andraka, is a civil engineer. Their mother, Jane Andraka, is an anesthetist. She told the Sun "... we're not a super-athletic family. We don't go to much football or baseball." "Instead we have a million [science] magazines [and] sit around the table and talk about how people came up with their ideas and what we would do differently' sounds allot more exiting then my dining table....
His mom is so adorable
Heck no. Imagine winning such a prestigious prize with what relatively is so much money. To actually be the best in the world (or america) at something. I am 22 years old and I would probably have a similar reaction
I hope he inspires other prodigies from all around the world to also do so. Also maybe if he wrote a short book on his method he could inspire those over 30 year old adults to be more open minded.
With government-controlled healthcare, these devices will likely be heavily regulated. I'm guessing they'll be nearly impossible for the average citizen to get, but it will make life easier for the "medics" working at the Quik-E-Lube-style medical centers of the future.
Wow! This boy is awesome! A pity this video doesn't have many views. It should have another title. Like this one: 16 year old boy creates on his own a device that can detect pancreatic cancer at early stages.
This kid is inspirational.
wow the only thing i made was a facebook acount
wikipedia?
These THNKR 'prodigy' videos make me want to cry.
3:30 the guy says "hardware team where they're going to make all the instruments to gather that data [for the software]"
So what does the graphic show? Data going in the opposite direction. While it's true that requirements and design choices may flow in that direction (and back), the most important part is product usage, and this is not how the product will be used.
In fact, while the software team does the "crunching", the graphic shows this happening on the hardware side. :(
Yes this is basically what you have to do with Wikipedia, regardless of whether you're looking to learn about something for a research paper or out of curiosity. Many Wikipedia pages are well researched and factual, while many others are falsified and very biased.
I like using Wikipedia as a reference to multiple sources. Whenever I find a part on a Wikipedia page I'd like to use, I always look for the original source and use the info from that source. If there's no source, I won't use the info
Steve Jobs knew he had Pancreatic Cancer though, he died because he refused to get treatment and believed he would be miraculously saved.
That was also my reaction.
What kind of reaction was this o my God !
Unfortunately people equate intelligence/genius/invention/innovation to the amount of money the pharmaceutical company has. While they do make a LOT of breakthroughs mostly innovation comes from a different perspective on the problem and or the will to look at it differently. This young man is one example another is the breakthrough with ulcers made by a man they thought crazy at the time. Companies need to make a profit so cheaper isn't always better for them.
Now our aim is to make sure everyone at least knows the difference between the're, there and their
dont feel bad- i did too. it was just really cute. it simply reminded us that even though he is genius, hes still a little kid! :)
You're almost there...
Finally, someone sees 2 years of our life as 1/8 of our lifespan. I'm not alone LOL
Ok, now be first at accomplishing something great for humanity!
Biting off more than you can chew is essential to getting anything done!
love kids like this!
huh...well damn i need to start doing something with my life !!
Woah,... respect to this dude... talks like most of the 30+ year old can't
you'd think all those medical dummies would have thought this up
i feel like a noob.
He is happy. he won 75 thousand dollars with his creative mind. >.
1:21 Super curious alright.. hahahaha...
So he's a professional?
Who is Jason Earles?
75k that's it?... why Indians sell phone app for 3 bil to google?
He sure loves plasma. :D
I have no clue what this kid is saying but he sounds smart atleast.
It's narrow minded to say that everyone over 30 is narrow minded.
ahhhhhhh I finally have hope for humanity
many of my teachers say to use wikipedia, just not to quote it and to make sure to fact check it
Inspiration!!
You don't need a RAMEN Spectrometer. You know what's in Ramen ?...
MSG
wow, nice... =) Kid you are awesome. Respect. from Singapore
Interpol "Hands Away"
All my teachers tell my classmates and I to never use Wikipedia. Well screw them look at this guy!
he looks so fucking happy hahahahaha
I congratulate these kids, but I want to know where are the prodigies who want to bring justice and peace to every man, woman, and child on the planet. Athletic feats, entertainment talent, and contributions to technology are great, but, c'mon, humanity needs a much bigger shift in thinking than these can do.
he join's with santiago X-prize won.
Buying.
best reaction EVER
Keep doing what you are doing dude. I wonder where I have been to let a kid surpass me by that much?
That guy is going to hold the title for craziest reaction and people might tease him but he would have creating things that would help others and not to mention the bank loads of cash he will be making
wait...you cant bring drinks on a plane? Because I did :)
right ON !
He should donate lots a monney to wikipedia.. he has reasons to thank them just like us. Only he has the money :P
Many articles are protected or at least semi protected and also they have moderators to moderate vandalism.
Good on the guy.
I...I don't know what to sah except now I feel stupid.
Wikipedia fail. Not a credible source.
FRED!!
