Thank you so much! Finally find my answer to export seamlines uv maps to another 3d software! I had so much trouble trying to export obj from clo to keyshot. Couldn’t find out why the seamlines are not visible in keyshot! Thank you! I can’t wait to try this!
I'm so happy that it was useful for you! Btw, if you want to export Normal Map for fabric textures - export it separately from the seams and then merge these 2 maps in a program that you use after Clo.
I understood why video game industry like Square Enix use that middleware for the cloth on Final Fantasy VII, it was well design for the fashion industries but it's also simplify the cloth simulation working process, of course we can do cloth without that using Zbrush and Blender with substance designer it's a powerfull combo, but with this CLO or Marvelous designer , we can hired a trained fashion designer now that can make real cloth for us and apply there cloth knowledge to our virtual world , what impresse me is you can also print the patron on real cloth and paper to build the cloth for real.
When I select the model first time in shading any windows do not pop up in the editor like yours, can you help pls. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong
thanks for the tutorial! Have a question for the very last bit. When you applied the image texture for the "lace", how did it get the second UV map applied automatically as you said??
Would this still be possible to add textures in blender if you exported the clothes as an a alembic instead of an obj? I’m looking to render an animation simulated in CLO but can’t seem to bring any textures with me 🥲
Yes, you can export an alembic and texture it in Blender. If you want to bring textures with you you'll need to bake texture maps in the UV editor first and export with Unified UV Coordinates :)
I did each of the steps several times and my shirt appears without the print 😔😔😪😪. I would appreciate any advice to solve it, thanks, excellent tutorial!
Hi:) Do you meen you don't see the textures after export? If so, you need to bake texture maps in the UV Editor and plug them in the 3d software you use for rendering. Obj doesn't contain texture information. I think fbx as well. There is an option to export your model in gltf format and embed textures in a file. To do so, export in gltf, select all the texture maps in Unified UV Coordinates section and choose gltf-embedded in a file section.
@@MyDressPatterns okay! I'm going to try this option, since now I gave up and I'm trying to send it directly to After Effects, but the same thing happens to me, so I ask. Is the file prepared the same for After Effects? Sorry for the late reply, I appreciate your knowledge. If you want to leave me an email and I'll send you the file if you want to review it I would also be grateful. If not, there is not problem.
Very helpful video. How do you bake normal map when there are puckering on the edges? I tried here but the transition between the normal of the fabric and the normal of the puckering is very abrupt. Do you know a workaround to blend the two normals?
Hi. Thank you! I didn't bake puckering so far but I bake normal map of seams separately from the normal map of fabric textures. You can try to bake a third map, only puckering, and mix them all together in Blender after all. I usually use "mix rgb" node and choose "Overlay" blending mode.
FBX with UV UDIM work fine, but you probably Ask the 3D people to do a retopology of the cloth model before, they need to simplify for texturing, animation and cloth physics purpose.
Thank you for this was a very useful video. Quick question. Is there a way to set the material name that gets exported? all my material names have no meaning like 'material-8367438' this makes it tricky to pick out material names in game code when imported into a game development env. Any ideas?
Thank you for your excellent tutorials on Clo3D, I learned a lot. But I have a question: how do I make the surface appear smooth? Particularly in many wrinkles, such as the folds of cloth in the armpits when the hands are close to the body. I experimented with the simulation "Fitting (Accurate fabric)", particle distance 3 mm, triangles or quads, subdivide, different fabric material, collision, and so on. However, when we render it at a large size, such as 5000px, the edges still appear jagged and not smooth. One workflow that worked for me was export as OBJ (Thin, weld), then subdivide in Blender or use a smooth-brush, then re-unwrap there. I also tried Marvelous Designer, which has "sculpting" feature, smooth-brush with which I can achieve perfect results with less total face count. But I'm still curious about Clo3D and I've only been learning this software for 2 days.
Hi, actually subdivision works quite good for me. I usually set PD from 1 to 5 in CLO depending on the size of the detail and it looks smooth. If you need a smoother mesh I think it's better to do a retopology in Blender or in the other 3d software.
Good day. You don't know how to make the animation from clo in blender loop or increase its footage. My animation continues for 39 frames and I don't know how to make a long scene with it, because it doesn't appear in the animation field in blender. I will be very grateful
Hello, i have looking to export the clothes with animation and it does not seems to export the animation within the FBX files do you know how to fix it/ is there any other way to go from CLO to blender with detail and animation ? Thanks.
Actually, I don't have one because I don't know any great website with a big amount of different fabrics or fabric textures. I really like Poliigon. Recently they added new fabric textures, but usually, it's upholstery. Substance Source is great but it requires a subscription and you get a limited number of assets per month. Also, there are artists who sell quite good textures on Artstation. Sometimes I can find something good on CONNECT store. What about you? What is your favorite website?

Why go to the trouble of baking normal maps separately, when you can bake during Export?
Baking during export didn't work correctly in the previous versions of CLO. Seems like it's fixed now but it's better to check anyways.

How did you add thickness to the lace dress shoulder pieces, are they offset or is there a different setting? thanks
There is no additional thickness. The straps are from 2 parts, top and bottom, stitched together to imitate a real life strap.
