    I got to say the 1.4 t with a 6-speed manual is my preferred setup. I own a 2013 rally with the turbo and 6-speed. It does need some bolt ons however to really bring the engine to life. I have a short ram intake, a Madness go pedal which will outperform the 2.4 in acceleration, a go-fast bit diverter valve to replace the stock POS one, 2 mufflers aftermarket, and engine hot and cold pipe for the intercooler. It's fast in my opinion.

    I looked at the Dart when it first came out. I was hoping to replace my daily driver 2002 neon. The 2013 Dart was pure garbage. Bad suspension, under powered 2.0 engine across most trim models and the 1.4T and 2.4 being way overpriced. Even the 2.0 was pushing 24k for a decent trim package. When my 2.0 I4 neon was faster than a car ten years newer, I knew this wasn't the car for me.
    Fast forward to last month, I went into my usual Dodge dealership and was shocked to find out how many changes were made for 2014. The GT model was released and it looked like how the Dart SHOULD have been released. Blacked out front grill makes this car, without it, it is just another boring sedan. The 2.4 now standard on many trims AND at a reasonable price. My GT priced at 23k, and with chrysler discount, ended up at 21.5k. I bought a White, Automatic GT and couldn't be happier with it.
    So what's so good about it now?
    1) Suspension. Some say it is stiff, but that's the point of a GT trim. Handling is amazing for a FWD sedan. FIAT really helped this tune this.
    2) Brakes. My god these brakes are amazing.
    3) Transmission. The 6 speed auto trans is amazing. Fastest and hardest shifting auto I have seen, especially for a cheap sedan. The north/south "manual" shift works flawlessly. It won't downshift if you try to chug the motor at low rpms which most "manual" shifts do. It changes shift hardness depending on how much throttle you are using also.
    4) Looks. Blacked out grill, 18in rims, leather interior.
    5) Features. Backup camera, huge touchscreen, heated seats,
    6) 2.4 Tigershark. Most people are getting 35mpg after engine break-in. On top of that, it has tons of low end torque and doesn't need to be pushed above 3k rpms to move. This engine is also bulletproof by the description of the internals. Same engine going to be turboed for SRT model.
    So what does this go up against? Chevy Cruze, Honda Civic, maybe a few others. For the money, you will not find a better small sedan.

      ***** Almost a year of ownership and 13k miles later I am still loving this car. FYI, for $45 a K&N drop-inn filter helped quite a bit.

    Per Dodge tech center SXT has a 3.19 Final Drive Ratio, the GT has a 3.51 FDR. The GT is programed to upshift closer to redline & downshift sooner as well making it a somewhat livelier drive.

    • @brojynks
      @brojynks 10 лет назад

      the SXT has a 3.23 final drive and the GT has 3,51. but the manual GT has a 4.118 ratio.

    One of the nicest designs in the compact realm. I wonder if the 2.4 comes with the 6 speed manual.

    • @1guyin10
      @1guyin10 10 лет назад +3

      Yes, the 6 speed manual is available. It will save you about $1250 verses the automatic.

    Dart brochure says the GT has "Unique Engine Calibration", anyone know what that means? I see the SXT rated at 35 mpg, the GT 31 mpg.

      It's tuned to be a little higher revving, It is faster from 0-60, and with the sport suspension it's a lot more agile. It's not quite as big of a difference as between the focus and focus ST but it is a noticeable difference in the way it delivers those horses power.

    I think Chrysler has a Civic killer on it's hands. A few years of tweaking and this new Dart will sit firm in its class. Nice looking too.

    • @delafonsy
      @delafonsy 9 лет назад

      I drove both back to back. The dart was leaps and bounds ahead of the civic in every way in terms of driving dynamics, options, and interior quality. If they would just make an R/T version with a pentastar V6 it would destroy everything else in its class.

      Are you serious? Chrysler reliability is so sub par compared to Honda and Toyota. I could never buy another Chrysler. After all these years, they can't get their shit together.

      joe b its not 2002 anymore, there reliability is good ever since fiat bought it

    • @teambronski

      Xenios9 Even before that they started to get their stuff together which is why they were so attractive to Fiat. I have an 09 Dodge and over 70,000 miles with zero problems.

    Do like the look of this car, but I'm really considering a half ton pickup for the next purchase, maybe a grand cherokee or explorer. Need at least the 5000 lb towing but decent fuel mileage

    the Fiat engine is a 1.4 Turbo.
    i also got every option minus the sun and sound off the lot for 22000.

      LOL @ ghd bfb erasing posts that doesn't support his 1.4 and 3300lb pig being a performance car. Next thing you know they will try to erase reality that their cars are uncompetitive against better priced and higher performance turbo cars. "200WHP" is a big number when most cars are coming out the factory closer to 300... Get outta here with that ricer bullshit lol.
