  • Hey guys! This video covers the final 3 plants of my birthday wishlist plant shopping spree! I am finally expanding my Anthurium collection and I am so excited to show you what I got!
    These plants are from an Etsy shop that I came across. They specialize in carnivorous plants, so check them out if that's your thing! They also have a good collection of aroids.

    Nice haul Ron! The Melanochrysum and Clarinervium are so perfect!!! I always want to get a Clarinervium, but too lazy to provide a humid environment. 😂
    Looking at them especially the Queen Anthurium reminds me of the botanical garden in Hilo!!! 😆
    I am actually heading to Hawaii tomorrow and staying in Kona for 4 days. Probably should drive to Hilo to visit all the beautiful plants. ❤

    I'm not ready to invest in the super expensive aroids. I am house hunting so almost all my money goes there. Then I want to be sure I can properly care for them. I think a Florida Room is my major need in my house 😂
    The Queen is supposed to be very picky. I love the long foliage though. Of course my dream plant is the spiritus sancti. Not unreasonable really, because their in tissue culture . I'm content with my small collection though. I think most of my plants are actually aroids.
    Oh ! The clarinervium ( butchered the spelling) doesn't ship well. It may take some time to recover. Kaylee Ellen says she loses them pretty regularly.
    Anthuriums get big ! There's one at Fairchild that's massive. Summer Rayne Oakes does great tours of Fairchild and others. Very interesting and fun to watch.

    Yay! I love the queen 👑 They don’t travel well. I have ordered three different queen plants and all the leaves died. But I saved the chonk and regrew them. Take that leaf and do the skeleton leaf diy. It’s pretty easy. I took a few of my dying leaves and spray painted them gold after the process and put them into a black frame and hung it in my plant room. You can spray paint it any color or not spray paint it at all. Just an idea 😄 I also did that with one of my monstera leaves 🌿
    I just got a tall milsbo. That makes 5 cabinets for me 😂 Just get another one 😆 Great haul! 🪴

      Aww the skeleton leaf would’ve been cool! But I already tossed the leaf lol. Yes another cabinet is on the agenda haha

    Beautiful haul! Is the Anthurium Warocqueanum a cutting?? I am going to check out the Etsy Store you bought yours! Wonderful video! ❤👍🏾

      Thank you! I showed the thick stem that it is attached to, so I’m guessing that was the original leafless node propagation, and then it grew the new leaves from that node.

    Yay! I can't wait for when I get myself into the "rarer" plants. Also missed the pulled-back hair look lol We need an updated tour on your collection soon! 🖤

      Lots of growth already in the Milsbo cabinet! I could do an update on that for sure! 😄

    I personally would be horrified by the last one! A couple leaves that are there are all scarred and spotty. And then the others are like wilted lettuce? I would imagine you paid quite a bit for this. They would not tolerate you paying in the fashion that you received your plant. I would be absolutely horrified. I hope with the caring love that it turns into a great plant. And it has a big growth spurt because it's happy to be with you. Happy birthday! PS you are far more tolerant than I am.

      Thanks! 😆 I guess the key is to be patient and in no time the plant will thrive and look flawless again. No leaf is permanent 😉

      @@SuchPlants I understand that part. I admire you for that. I get the patients with the Queen! I have many that went though a car cooking ! It was so sad! But to order and pay top prices? I would expect more!
      I can hardly wait to see them in a month or two! Still unless free for the show I hope they address what they sent you!
      I think I also have a bit of sticker shock! I was here in the sixties and seventies when they were cool!
      I could go to my local muti purpose store and get just crazy amazing plants ,giant! $9.99 Then a 4 inch pot $1.00 Then .69 cents. lol It is all a fad again. I am glad to see it . I just think they are so much money they should be perfect!

    These plants look great! Queen anthuriums don't ship well, so yours actually looks really good! I'm excited to see how you acclimate it, as I have one coming to me in about a month or so :) Also for the clarinervium, the petioles will shorten significantly if you give it more light. I did that and mine is now a compact bush!

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the tips on the clarinervium. Right now they’re in the cabinet doing well. I’m out of town for 1.5 weeks so I hope I don’t come home to dead plants! 😅 I think they should be fine tho; the humidity level should be enough for the time being. Did you order yours from Ecuagenera? 🧐

    • @LucasEY
      @LucasEY 2 года назад

      @@SuchPlants humidity seems to be the most important thing when it comes to acclimation so I'm sure they'll do great! My clarinervium is from a local plant store in Toronto, and my waroq is coming from Tropicals-Equaflor-A. But I have a philo el choco red and an anthurium draconopterum camaniense coming from Ecuagenera in May 😂

    Hello, NO ! its not alright. Definitely ask for a replacement of the last plant. I can tell ur not pleased & totally understandable. The other 2 r beautiful.

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  2 года назад +2

      They actually offered a refund for the plant. But I politely refused. I’m fine with giving it some TLC. It allows me to figure out what it likes or dislikes. I understand that the unique leaf shape will undoubtedly pose problems during shipping, so it’s all good! I couldn’t stand the thought of shipping an otherwise healthy plant back to them all because of a snapped petiole. I might’ve retuned it if it was the only leaf, but a new leaf will grow in time. 😊
