    So they made the 1 2 3 combo work like dragoon, basically. Cause before, you only needed to use "Dread fangs" to refresh "Noxious" when it was running out. Now you constantly alternate between both combo starters

    One thing I still do not understand to this day is why the "Vipersight" gauge is always red inside, blue outside, instead of alternating it between whether you are on red or green debuff. so eg red: first action sets first bar to blue, second to red, you know to hit red/hind. then the next first action sets inside to red, second outside to blue, you know it is the green/side. That would make it so all info you need is always just visible on the gauge instead of having to check both it and your hotbar... (well if you cannot recall to simply switch every combo like dragoon that is).

      This☝️ I would have much preferred this implementation of color coating the gauge in this fashion. ngl, I feel like we're not done getting Viper Revisions - just intuitively I feel like more feedback and testing will prompt changes down pipe but we'll see.

    Fantastic video dude! I was looking for something on viper while at work and you were the only one that actually showed gameplay and tested out the changes.

      Thank you! Yeah I was up at 5:30am... I don't normally make videos like these but I wanted to get this out as quickly as possible. I really should have gone through a proper rotation but I already made a video on Viper Rotation plus I was hella tired after editing, recording etc at that hour lol

    I think the Dread names were renamed because the word Dread was linked to Noxious Gnash inflicting skills. Since the debuff was removed the name was likely changed so there would be no connection to the old debuff anymoore.

    The debuff being removed along with only rotating between your starting combo makes the class a lot more simple. You can get your buffs up one single time and likely land reawakening 3x in a row if you wanted to. Doing it even twice in a row before was extremely tight.
    No 20 second debuff to worry about on top of 20 second longer buffs means you can essentially press reawaken mindlessly everytime it's up.

      Agreed - right after I was done editing and uploading I hit up the dailies to test in real time and this tiny change of one timer made this feel smoother. On paper it didn't seem like it was that big of a deal but it actually is. Slither also feels so much better now as well.

      @@celphalonred1999 I honestly thought they would extend the NG timer to 40 or 60 seconds and remove 2 positionals.

    Since the changes are pretty small, the rotation shouldn't really change: you would open up with dreaded fangs > red button (doesn't matter which) > Vicewinder combo. Reason being is that you'll get all the buffs (Honed steel + Swiftscale + Hunter's sting) you want before you pop awakening. If you do your full 1,2,3 into vicewinder combo you'll miss a few bigger potency GCDs in buff window most likely 1 or 2 of the 3 uncoiled fury that does 680 potency +120 potency follow-up OCDs x2.

      @lushen952 lm not a fan of the change either. It removes managing the debuff and finding windows to use steel fang over dread fang which was fun to optimize for me in fights. But I'm strictly referring to the opener here I should have been more clear. Sorry

    I like your video; can I ask how did you come to this conclusion for the rotation? It is different from Icy veins rotation.

      I thought the same exact thing! It was this weird awkward pause before we could execute our next action. This is smooth as butter now.

    Halp… partially colorblind hard af to tell when to rear/flank. Was just going off if 2nd skill in combo was 1 rear or 2 flank.. now I can’t because the combo doesn’t restart….

      it still works very similarly, i had to play around with it but then I just understood, whatever you use in the second part of the combo is still what determines what the combo ender positional will be

      One thing that "may" help you is the Sword Job Gauge, which I hardly use, but I did notice when the Right Side lights up its a Rear Positional and the Left Side Lit up is a Flank.

    Never should've touched it at all. Despite the mixed feedback on slighly less dps, i really dislike them removing the debuff. Let us have a debuff or give us a damn poision dot or something

    10:13 they did, the patch before last included range updates for a few classes and VPR's Legacy abilities were included.

      Interesting - it feels the same to me after testing but I'm glad you commented on this. Hopefully some others see this and can share the same. Curious to hear if anyone else feels the same way.

    Yeah I'm pretty content with the changes made. My problem wasn't the positionals really, I did not like noxious gnash though, and glad it's gone.

      Yeah Im about to hit up some dailies to test this all out in real time after this 6AM recording (I'm so tired!) Feels good to get back on Viper though.

      @oxfordking I'm very much looking forward to testing it out later, I think it'll be much better not having the debuff to worry about. Also the ranges were Indeed increased in 7.01!

      I really preferred that I could choose how I would start my combo
      Though I feel like this change was planned before the expansion even launched

      @BranBal I get that, a lot of it is also personal preference. I agree it feels like Viper wasn't fully cooked on launch and they always planned on making changes.

    They fixed one problem and made other problems. It is now not as intuitive to use the vicewinder and other ogcds that dont highlight since the highlighting encourages the use of death rattle and the mainline endless combo. The changes feel rushed and untested.

      Yeah I hear ya - I was honestly hoping for 2 things to happen with this change:
      1). Get rid of 2 of the 4 Positionals
      2). Make the Combo Actions light up one at a time rather than all at once

    It does significantly less damage now. I was able to sustain about 1-2k more damage on a striking dummy with old viper.

      Striking dummy doesn't move our of range/summon adds/make you move out of range. Stuff like that should also be taken into consideration in my opinion. Plus that can be adjusted in future patches.

    After 1 duty it feels much better. Not having to worry about the debuff uptime when enemies move out of range is wonderful.

      Agreed - I just did a few dailies and even though it "feels the same" it just feels smoother with the removal of Noxious Gnash.

      Agreed - that's why I went over this in my Original Viper Rotation Video at launch on what I do to remove the confusion. I too hated that when I unlocked VPR and almost gave up on it; even at level 80. Now I have a better understanding of it and block out the "noise" of the marching ants.

      I was doing stone, sky, sea for M1S have both Sam and Viper lvl 100 il710 and my clear times around around the same maybe 1 or 2 seconds faster ether way. Was a Sam main for the last couple years

      Oh really? I never pay attention to the forums at all. The Final Fantasy crowd, both single player and MMO, complain the most in any franchise I've covered, unfortunately.

    With noxious gnash they removed any reason for me to play this job. I'm not joking. I'm done with this job. I loved noxious gnash. Now it's gone. Why should I play it now?
    I wish they just removed the positionals and left NG.

      Hey at least we still have our positionals. Anyone can hit shiny button but to actually land every positional take skill while dodging things. And yes there are more positionals even outside of the main combo if you read all the tooltips

    Bad job,done poorly I don’t like it at all. Weird buffs debuffs,positional on very fast combos,not understandable job gauge and overall not inspired at all

      Yeah I don't even look at the job gauge at all. I could probably get away with removing the Job Gauge entirely and still perform the same. First Job that I feel the Gauge doesn't help at all.

      Not once did I say "YOU MUST DO THIS BECAUSE I SAID SO" It's a preference of mine regarding that part of the rotation. I like to wait for the Diamonds. You do you though my guy.
