Vanguard is actually a thing in high mmr for carry am. It lets you stay in lane, and you can disassemble it to ring of health for battlefury. So now you basically either won the lane or had some farm which normal am wouldnt have and a free vitality booster for your future abyssal
The "Dota 2 is a lot harder than League" is a myth. And I played Dota 2 for roughly ~6 years and I've played League for ~2 years... From what I can safely say is that League has way more "skillshot" types of spells/abilities that have to be manually aimed, the movement speed is faster so it's harder to hit the aforementioned spells. The "time to kill" (TTK) is also shorter so you'll die more easily if you make mistakes and there are less "get out of jail cards" in the game like spell immunity or blinking to trees and teleporting home with only 3,5sec time to hard disable/CC whilst in League Recalling takes 8 seconds and can be disabled with regular autoattacks and it's not a guessing game in the jungle maze... Both games have different things that are hard to master. In Dota 2, for example you have more active items and a few heroes that require a very certain skillset like Meepo or Invoker, but in League there are champions like Akali, Lee Sin and Qiyana that can pull of insane combos that need fast execution times and accuracy. I've seen a chain of like 6-7 abilities in a specific order etc. pulled off with those champs... It's not exactly "riding a bicycle" whilst in Dota most abilities are unit targets for example Lion has ~4 unit targets so it requires zero skills to just click on the enemy hero... Not bashing on Dota but just saying the "Haha Dota is harder" is a myth that is used just to boost egos :)
100% this. The problem is that everyone is an elitist for the game they play themselves, claiming it to be the hardest and purest of them all... They're vastly different games that require vastly different skill sets. For some, Dota 2 will be a bit easier to get into. For some, League will be a bit easier to get into. Mastering any of them will always be really hard, no matter who you are.
I play both and LoL is way easier. LoL is more about knowing your champion and DotA is more understanding the state of the game and using the map space.
@@pepperoni1002 basilius is for supports, it's 175 mask +250 recipe for 1.5 regen, it's cheaper to get 2 masks. Also basilius doesn't build into anything usefull for an offlane antimage (vladmirs lol). Falcon is a viable option BUT it costs same as vanguard and doesn't make u as tanky. It delays your battle-ready timings up to +7+8 minutes - so not an option. You need to get treads and vg by min 10 and start ganking/pushing or this build isn't going to work.
I love your eagerness to try out AM offlane but there's a good reason as to why people warned you not to. Wether you play AM in either lane he is still a deceptively hard to use hero despite his rather simplistic spells and gameplan. Either way I'm gonna root for you and that you're gonna pull it off well the next time 👍 The blink explanation may be a bit confusing but the idea is that since you have a 6sec cd blink,(5 if you take talent) you're encouraged to utilize it more and the better you are moving around the map, the less you need to tp compared to other carry heroes.
Well practice makes perfect. I used to have 0-10 as Invoker per games. After 1k games Invoker now it is very much my main hero. You always learn something new when you try to master a hero.

Your team has to play without an offlaner/initiator and teamfights become nearly impossible. 5. If you once in a blue moon win, that won't have anything to do with your own impact, you'll just get carried by your team who wins 4v5 (for more information on this subject, read the article: 'Safelane Antimate'). I can give you a rough assessment of his viewpoint: LoL lacks the nuance Dota 2 has. You don’t have a playstyle with characters in LoL, the character has a playstyle that you do well or you die. There are no items to counter specific builds or playstyles. If you get counterpicked in LoL you have to rely on outside interference to win that lane. Additionally, Grubby comes from a long history with WC3. Those mechanics make sense to him, and Dota 2 kept most them. The stats, item effects, etc. LoL abandoned all of that in the sake of simplicity. Grubby might enjoy LoL for a while, but I doubt he would keep playing for any serious legnth of time. Dota 2 checks all the right boxes for this man.
I'm sorry I don't think diffusal is the way to go, I think it's way to aggressive, I would totally go for full tank build with crimson guard and also I feel pipe is really a must at the offlane right now, I don't think it's okay to go after supports too that is way too over the top christmas land "I'm going to do damage", I mean life is not that easy. Also the lv 4 shield has almost zero cooldown, as an offlaner which could be tanking spells you could benefit having mana regen items and arguably in that thought malevolence is better as you can escalate into bloodthorn with additional magic resistance, as an offlaner your job is to shutdown the enemy offlaner during fights, I mean what are you going to do against a bkb nightstalker? The opposing magnus is going to stun your whole team, what are you going to do ? jump in with a vanguard and a difusal you're going to be dead. If you're a tank antimage during a fight you have the amazing benefit to jump in aggressive the enemy offlaner and shut down his blink, that's the realistic scenario, unless you wanna hide yourself and bait until you see the supports(that's not helpful as an offlaner). Can you Jump their pit lord with a vanguard and call it a go? their pudge? Not happening.
It's situation like all items builds in dota 2. You should only build pipe if the enemy has very high magic dmg heroes, or a very high combination of spell damage in general. Otherwise it's complete overkill combined with your E. Crimson guard is sorta the same deal except a worse trade for your money, since building your vanguard into that means that you're giving up your most valuable disable in abyssal blade, and a 3 kinda needs disable of some sort. The idea isn't to literally jump into the middle of a Magnus about to charge your team, to get stunned with him. The idea is you jump him and very quickly drain his mana before he can get into position with his blink dagger. He will either lose all his mana in an instant, or be forced to waste his abilities on only you, which won't do much besides stun you since you get a ton of magic res, and reduce spell damage with your E. By the time Nightstalker gets bkb you should ideally be picking up basher which pierces bkb, and f you're a bit ahead possibly even recipe to finish abyssal which will let you lock him down completely. His slow dot is dispelled by manta, vanguard protects you from his physical. Even if he gets silence aura off before you've stun locked him and drained all his mana, manta and abyssal alone lets you survive anything he can dish out. And if enemy team wants to jump you that's fine since the more time they are wasting on you the more free space and time your team has to kill them all. Tf is pitlord gonna do, his Q is gonna do barely anything due to your E, his roots are easily dispelled with manta, rod is reflected. Dmg reducing aura is pointless since you're not building for attack damage, his mana is gonna be drained regardless, and abyssal does fixed dmg. Pudge really? You press spell shield and boom he can't touch you. By the time he can his mana will be drained. Simple bash stun is enough time to reset your spell shield due to it's short cd. He literally can't touch u

To be fair to the chatter, SK 4 used to be a thing. It was a first pick hero at ti7 for example. Kaka played Sk 4 vs Liquid in the grand finals
